What type of suspenders do you use I have the same prob and thought about suspenders but thought it would really hurt after a while.

Best thing is to take measurements. I've just started running after being a retired athlete for 5 years :) and I haven't lost a single pound in 2 weeks BUT i can tell my jeans fit better my shirts aren't tight...so I know it's muscle gain. It probably is the same thing happening to you.
