  • Bump for later. I'm 10 lbs away from my goal weight, at which point I want to make the switch to maintenance, but I have many of the same concerns. Congrats on your success!
  • I'm 5'1" and looked great at 125. I got up to about 160 and have gotten back down to 135 or so (I weigh myself once a week, at the most). Everyone's body is different. You have to go with what works for you, not what works for someone else. Be honest with yourself, and don't compare your bodyweight to someone else's. If…
  • 25 pounds in 4 months is really pushing it, but it's possible (as long as you're healthy about it). If you can, try to extend your deadline by a few weeks, even a month, if possible. By "healthy", I mean make sure you're eating throughout the day, and make healthy choices. I looked at your food diary and noticed you've…
  • 1) I love to lift and push myself to the next level. 2) I'd rather watch a baseball game than a chick flick. 3) I only buy shoes when I have to (special occasion or my old ones are worn through) 4) I love beer and Buffalo wings (give me a good microbrew over a girly cocktail any day!) There are probably more, those are…
  • I have access to a trainer at my gym (included in my monthly fee), so that's how I got started. I do the same stuff as the men, just lighter weights. I would recommend meeting with a trainer once a month, if you can manage it, even if it's only for the accountability. It also helps to make sure you're getting your forms…
  • Whether or not you eat back your exercise cals back is entirely your choice, although I would recommend eating at least some of them. I eat back a portion of mine, but not all, and my current settings are for 1lb/wk weight loss. Eating back the exercise cals hasn't hurt me at all.
  • I'm gonna echo a few others on here and say go to a store that specializes in running/walking. Bring your current pair of running shoes with you, they like to know what you're working with at the moment. They will watch your gait and sit with you, bringing you pair after pair, until you find one that suits you. It may be a…
  • Feel free to add me! 5'1", SW approx 160 (didn't weigh myself), CW 140, GW 125ish (or whenever I look at my body and say "cool")
  • Saturdays. There have been a few times where I've used Saturday as my make-up, but it's rare.
  • I'm 5'1", SW around 160 (I didn't weigh myself), CW 141, GW 126ish (I'm being flexible...if I look at my body and decide I'm happy, I'll go to maintenance). It is very difficult to work with such a low calorie budget, but I work out a lot and eat back some of my exercise calories, so I get a bit more at the end of the day.
  • my hair. and my butt (it's getting smaller but keeping its shape (i hope)!
  • I weigh in once a month or so. I don't own a scale, so that makes it easier. I feel like I'm able to focus better on my workouts rather than the result I may want to see every week/day. I've only been lifting for a little over 2 months, but I'm already stronger and jeans that I couldn't zip 3 months ago now require a belt.…
  • thighs, butt, then belly. i'm hoping my butt keeps its shape as i continue my workouts...
  • Move on. I might do an extra 10 minutes at the gym the next day or 2, but that's it. Don't dwell on it, just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be alright.
  • I'm 5'1", currently 141, wanting to get down to 125ish. The important thing is to be flexible...the last time I weighed that much, I was 19. Our bodies change over time. If I look at my body and am happy with what I see, then I'll go to maintenance, regardless of my weight. I do a lot of cardio, plus weights for 45ish…
  • When you're so many hours behind the live action, you gotta expect spoilers. I pick and choose my events based on what I've read already happened (if I've gotten updates on it :P) That being said, definitely watching tonight's coverage! :D Jordyn Wieber reppin' the Mitten State!
  • Hoping to be at my goal weight by then, 18 or so more pounds.
  • It is possible to drink too much water, and when you sweat your body loses some essential minerals. It's important to replenish what you lose...I try to get in a protein drink within half an hour after I finish my workout, but the sooner the better. I also drink fitness water while I'm working out to help replenish what is…
  • 6 days of cardio, 4-5 days of abs, 3 days of strength training (target muscle groups). I'm working on cutting fat, so on days with no strength training (save for abs), I do an extra half hour of cardio. We'll see how that changes once I hit my goal.
  • I'm all for restricting cell phone use at the gym. My gym has a policy but people break it all the time; just last week, a woman climbed on the machine next to me, started her workout, then dialed her phone and talked for the next 10 minutes. I wanted to take her phone and chuck it across the room. Luckily, I have self…
  • A few friends of mine like to do impressions of me from my college days. Not my proudest moments, but they make for a good laugh later on :P Just be careful in the future...alcohol has a ton of calories, that's how I started putting on weight! And the hangover until late the next day is so not worth it
  • When I hit my UGW I'm getting a tattoo. I know what I want, I just need to get the design. I've been working out for 3 months and the difference is awesome! So this week, I'm gonna go out and buy myself a new belly ring...I've been wearing the same one for years because I had no incentive to change it
  • That's pretty much normal for almost all women. If you really wanna work to get rid of it, lift weights. Chest exercises, I think, would be your best bet, but why not go all out and add weight training to your workout regimen. I've been doing weights for almost 3 months now and the difference I'm seeing is amazing :)

  • I'm from Michigan so apparently I have a mid-western accent. I'm not sure, though...I don't hear it :P I think Mexican accents are incredibly sexy. Also, British. And Australian. And Irish. Scottish. Spanish. You know what, just throw in almost every country in western Europe and Central/South America. Yeah, that'll about…
  • I have yet to buy into minimalist running, but my dad (an avid runner, runs trails regularly, has done a few ultras) loves his Vibrams. He owns several pairs. According to him, the trick is getting your stride right. He used to run heel-ball-toe, now he runs ball-toe-heel. He's nearly 60 and he claims they helped fix his…
  • The question isn't really "Does myfitnesspal work?" It's more "Are you willing to commit yourself to the change you've set forth to accomplish?" If the answer is "yes", then yes, MFP works. You have to be diligent, realize that the change you're making isn't going to be a quick fix, and it will be almost impossible to go…
  • I consider a "cheat" as a day where I don't count calories at all...every Saturday. I still try to eat healthy (up until dinner), but I'll let myself have a bit more, something sweet that I don't let myself have the rest of the week...ice cream, chocolate, some food that's good for the soul. I also might order out for…
  • 2 slices of pizza and some salad from Jets. and some pad gai (thai food) earlier that day. i was visiting friends, it was a special day, so i feel zero guilt! ...except for that second slice of pizza...
  • A lot of the complaints stem from their weight-lifting policies (already stated above), the "Lunk Alarm" (which goes off after anyone drops weights if the staff care), stuff like that. I've been going for about 2 months now and I love it. My location is wonderful, I've been to another location that wasn't quite as good,…
