Yes, this too! Heel-ball-toe works great for me, my dad (who wears Vibram Five Fingers and loves them) runs ball-toe-heel. Your arms play such an important role in your running, too...you don't want them too tight, but you don't want to flop them at your sides, either. Relax your fists, don't clench. Forward and back, let…

Proper running shoes are key. Get a gait analysis; any store that specializes in running/walking should be able to do this properly. Avoid Sports Authority, Dunhams, etc. They won't know what they're doing. Now that that's out of the way, there isn't necessarily a "proper" way to run as our bodies are built differently. I…

As far as tops go, FILA has a great selection of long-sleeve and short-sleeve crew neck, sweat-wicking tops. They aren't too form fitting, and still fit well if you feel the desire to go up a size if you want a little more room (I'm smaller-chested, so I'm not sure how they are for other women). As far as bottoms, what are…

http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/walk_breaks.html My dad is a marathoner/ultra-marathoner and has trained for his runs using this technique. I started running in April and have completed 2 races so far this year using this method. I'm convinced I couldn't have finished nearly as well if I didn't incorporate short (but…

Ah. I appreciate the input. I trust their method as tried and true, and they've helped fix issues and enhanced my running experience, injury free :) OP, good luck to you! I hope you're able to work through things and reach your goal!

You're right about the importance of shoes, but if your running store tested your running gait while you were wearing only socks, they don't know what they are doing. Unless, that is, they were testing you for minimalist shoes (which I doubt from your description of your gait). Recent research on minimalist shoes shows…

Did you get properly fitted for shoes? The wrong shoes can screw up everything and sideline you for months. Make sure you go to a specialty running shop. If they know what they're doing, they will watch you walk (wearing only socks) and find shoes tailored to your particular gait. You might try on 10 pairs of shoes before…

I lift heavy, in that I lift essentially to exhaustion on the last set. I wear the same size as I did when I hit my UGW (and even a few pounds under) but I definitely weigh more (due to the lifting, I think). It hasn't made me bulky at all...just well toned. In saying that, I'll echo what a few have said and wager it's…

I took a cheat day once a week when I was losing. Didn't track anything, ate fast food, ice cream, went out to the bar. Still lost 40 pounds. You'll be fine. And don't go overboard on the cardio, you're not doing your body any favors...in fact, you're more likely to hurt yourself if you go overboard

Squats, lunges...do exercises that target your lower body. I picked up running at the beginning of April to train for a few races I'm doing in the next few months and those exercises helped make the transition from treadmill to road ridiculously easy. Next big thing is getting my mileage up. Also helped enhance my butt :)

I lost 40 pounds in 5 or 6 months. That amount of weight loss in 2.5 years is not drastic. That being said, at 5'4", 110 pounds does seem a bit low. You're a college student...did you see a doctor at school or did you go to one in your hometown? Do you have a GP at home that you know and trust? Second opinions can't hurt…

blue. when i look at the pink, i'm focusing more on the outfit than the progress. you want the outfit to showcase you, not upstage you

I take a day off every week. If i didn't have a day off, I'd go nuts. I work out 6 days a week, alternating lifting and running (I'm training for a 10 mile race at the end of August and am considering a half-marathon in October). Without that day off, my muscles would be in pain constantly.

my face and my hands. i was excited when i could once again wear my ring on the finger i got it sized for. and that darn extra chin disappeared for good!

I think it's wonderful that you're looking to start anew! Be careful with ordering running shoes online. My recommendation is to go to a specialty running/walking shop and have them watch you walk. They are trained and know what to look for and what shoes will best benefit your particular gait. It should almost feel like…

throughout my weight loss, i didnt avoid alcohol. i had an entire cheat day and still lost the weight, and i'm in the best shape of my life! if you're gonna have a beer, make it worthwhile. a good, high quality beer. savor it. enjoy it. and i do encourage having that beer! or 2 or 3, but drink responsibly and give your…

Willing to bet it's an arc trainer. Gives you a great burn! Hardest cardio workout the gym's ever given me

Tricep kickbacks are a decent one that, to start out with, you don't need a lot of weight for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrAaKp8r1AU I agree with using body weight for a lot of exercises, especially if you don't want to spend the money on weight sets or a gym. Tricep dips are another one…

my boyfriend and i take turns. when he picks the date, he pays, and when i pick, i pay. it works

i quit counting calories several months ago after i hit my goal weight. i've since added 5-10 pounds even though i'm working out (weights and cardio) 5-6 times a week. idk how much of it is muscle and how much of it is the fluffy stuff. i did get tired of tracking every bite, but since i stopped tracking my diet has…

Watching a starting pitcher make it through 8 (hopefully 9!) innings, walking off to a standing O Watching the opposing team strike out swinging Watching a reliever come in and do exactly what he's in there to do Watching Prince Fielder try to turn an extra base

I have been drunk. On multiple occasions. Edit: I live in Michigan, snow is a way of life :) Never have I ever licked a frozen metal pole.

I have naturally curly hair and don't even own a hair dryer. Nor do I own a comb. I have a straightener somewhere but haven't seen it in a few years. I love my curls and wouldn't trade them for anything! My boyfriend keeps asking me to straighten my hair, just once...he wants to see what I'd look like with straight locks.…

I've been a Planet Fitness member since April. I love it, it's everything I need. As some have already said, it depends on where you go as they're all independently owned and operated. The one I go to is pretty laid-back, the staff is amazing, the members are awesome. There are guys who go there and bulk, some get away…

Thanks very much! No specific program. I got a gym membership and learned how to use the weights properly. I alternate cardio days and resistance days, and change up the resistance workouts once a month (both the exercises and the number of sets/reps). I'm at the gym 5 or 6 days a week, when I was losing I'd be there for…

I'm debating going for a jog. We'll see if that actually happens. If not, it's only 1 day so no harm done :)

I have 2 so far and I'm planning on getting another one within the next few weeks...my goal weight tat :) My first 2 have meaning from the stages of life i was in at the time, the next one is gonna be a celebration of what I've accomplished and a reminder that it didn't come easy. Everyone is beautiful, ink or no ink :)
