  • If you've only been logging your food for 5 days, then it's likely you've only been eating at a calorie deficit for those five days. Eating healthier won't drop pounds - eating fewer calories than you expend will. You said you've been watching what you eat for 4 weeks. That's awesome. Keep up the good work, keep logging,…
  • Let it be stated firmly and clearly that I no longer believe in personality traits being determined by the placement of stars. That said, I used to. Here. For funsies. http://www.lunarium.co.uk/moonsign/calculator.jsp
  • If all else fails, just have her or you delete your account (at least if you just got it set up) and start again. Sometimes computers are glitchy. (Can do so under "Settings", which you get to by clicking the "My Home" button and then it's on the right hand side on the second blue bar)
  • Yeesh man, project much? The poor guy just couldn't find his wife's profile, not that he suddenly stumbled upon AshleyMadison or anything.
  • This sounds juicier than the blood diet...
  • This is all I can think of when I hear about eating for blood types.
  • Do what works for your schedule and your body. No plan is a one size fits all. I, personally, get sick if I go too long without eating, so fasting is out. I also never felt full and satisfied by eating several smaller meals, so I eat 2 or 3 a day, with maybe a snack. Think about the times you have available to eat. Think…
  • My thoughts exactly. If anything, I think the show is cruel - both to contestants and to those watching.
  • At the top of your page, click "My Home". Then click "Check In" on the second blue bar from the top. (Third one from the left). Record your new weight on the "Enter Today's Weight" box. Scroll down, click "Save Changes." Viola! Your weight will be recorded. And congrats on the three pounds!
  • I love you so hard for that!
  • I agree that finding professional help could be very beneficial. Even circumstantial depression can be nearly impossible to drag ourselves out of alone, especially if it is one that is prompted by loss. I, too, suffer from mental health disorders that make leaving the house extremely difficult, sometimes for weeks at a…
  • Tortilla's. It wasn't intentional, but thanks to MFP, I just sort of stopped buying bread and now haven't bought a loaf in over a year. Tortilla's, however, we go through like crazy.
  • This. If you're just starting off, start slowly. Walk on the treadmill for 20 or 30 minutes a day a few days a week. Do a Pilates routine a couple of times a week. In the beginning, it's so easy to focus on exercise while our eating habits just run rampant. "It's hard to out-exercise a bad diet." Small changes, both diet…
  • Losing medication related weight is hell and a half. I, too, struggled with weight gain from various meds. It does come off eventually, it's just a pain in the *kitten* in the meantime. Slow and steady wins the race.
  • We remember what works for us. :) And that worked for me! It helped me not take the damn issue so seriously, seeing as I wasn't speeding through dark countrysides fighting for the freedom of Europe or anything, just struggling not to eat the damn cake my boyfriend would bring home!
  • You should definitely eat back exercise calories. Too much of a calorie deficit can give you headaches and make recovery from workouts more painful. You def don't want that with fibro! I'm not sure what exercises would be good with fibro to tone up. I do a have a friend of mine who does Pilates and she said that actually…
  • To quote an old user "This is not WW2, you are not a munitions loaded train." You're not being sabotaged. That implies someone is actively trying, with mean and malicious spirit, to MAKE you fat. You've already pinned the likely problem - your husband and you used to use food as points of connection with each other. That's…
  • This thread is cracking me up! Makes me happy I'm a cat person, though!
  • Totally off topic, but for a second, I swear I read that as "Peeing garlic." I should go to bed now.
  • In general longer sessions are better for building endurance and strengthening your heart. That said, if you can only do ten minutes at a shot before you feel like your lungs are going to burst through your ribcage and onto the treadmill...then just do 10 minutes, rest, than another 10, etc.
  • That way lies danger....and pooped stained pants. I would steer far away from Alli.
  • I also do my nail whiles watching long bouts of tv. I'll set up a small workspace in front of me of nail colors and brushes and whatnot and go to town. Very helpful!
  • There is danger in restricting yourself so much that you feel GUILTY or SCARED of going over. After all, this is for life - are you really going to refuse a day's worth of ice cream, cake, and steak on your birthday for the rest of your life? Are you never going to have a drunken night with beer and hot wings ever again?…
  • Be very careful. Having extreme calorie deficits won't "balance out" later, it will simply train your body to have a screwed up metabolism.
  • You cannot "jump start" weight loss, it will come off as it comes off. Do the right things and wait. Results will follow. What DVD do you have? Between that and the elliptical, that sounds like a good start.
  • Truth, yo. I've been an MFP revolving door the last year, as I hadn't quite built up the habits to keep me going through the unmotivated times. Build habits and discipline.
  • Maybe instead of thinking "addicted", think "I eat in unhealthy ways." The word addiction brings to mind the ideas that you have to cut out whatever it is you are addicted to - and you can't do that with food. But if you think "I use food in unhealthy ways, how can I relearn to eat healthily, both physically and mentally",…
  • I say "totes" ALL THE TIME. Drives my boyfriend insane!
  • Your goals will factor into this. If you're just looking to lose weight and (dreaded word, though I don't know why) tone up, IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) will work just fine. Lots of us do that. If you're specifically looking to build muscle, you may want to pay more attention to the details. Other members will be able…
