Welcome Judi! As long as you are eating within your calories, then there is nothing wrong with it, unless it is an obsession or you eat over your calories. I tend to be a "night-time" eater...and I save calories for just that! I like to have a snack when I am watching tv at the end of the day, so buy the 100 calorie…

Although I can completely understand what you are saying, I agree with another poster that these girls have worked up to that. If you are uncomfortable at this gym, is there another option that may work for you? Maybe go at a different time or find a different gym. Where I live, there is only one near by, so I just have to…

I think you are more honest than most of us. You did make me laugh with the cat food/litter story!!! Been there, done that! Just last night (not with cat food, but with laundry). I didn't quite have as many flights to go up/down, but definitely got more exercise in! It sounds like you have a lot of excuses and are owning…

There are a number of factors that could be at play. How many calories a day are you eating? If you are going with the MFP suggested, you may not be eating enough, especially if you are not eating back your exercise calories. Remember, food is fuel and your body needs fuel to function. You may want to use a calorie deficit…

Welcome and glad you have ventured out of the shadows!!! It is good to finally see you! It sounds like you are already making the steps to a healthier life. I too work an office job and spend way too much time sitting on my butt. I have been on MFP since the first of this year and have already dropped 25 lbs. I have…

Welcome to My Fitness Pal (MFP)! If you honestly and accurately track your food and exercise, you will see the results. Add me as a friend, if you want. I have been on since 1/3/13 and have dropped nearly 25 lbs. It is not easy, but it becomes more of a habit every day.

You are braver then me!!! I have not yet been willing to do a Zumba class. Good luck and have fun!

Welcome to My Fitness Pal (MFP)!!! I have Type 2 diabetes also, been dealing with it for about 7 years. However, just finally taking care of myself since the first of the year. Glad to have you join us. With exercise (and I can't stress this enough) and a healthier diet, you will begin to see better control in your blood…

To Amira and all the new people on MFP! Welcome!!! This is a great place to help you in your weight loss goals. As you know, there are no miracle drugs or magic pills and you have to put in a lot of work to lose this weight. But, if you do the work, the results will start to show! I would start by looking at this weight…

Welcome to MFP! It is a great place for support. I love the great food in WI...the custard, bratwurst and pastries. No wonder I need to lose weight!!! You can do this. Just eat in moderation.

My dad was born and raised in Oshkosh and we spent a lot of time there growing up. My grandparents lived there until they passed away. My grandpa worked at Golden Gurnsey back in the 70's. I have very fond memories of times spent on Lake Winnebago and our time visiting family in Poysippi. :) Gotta love the city names in…

If you are only set to eat 1200 calories, then you should most definitely eat back the calories you have burned from your exercise. You should never go below that amount. I had been at just over 1200 calories when I first started MFP on 1/3, and was always so hungry. I upped my calories to 1560 and am so much happier - and…

Welcome to MFP! First things first, don't try to change too many things at once. I am a Type2 Diabetic and have been for about 7 years. My A1C back in January, as I was starting this journey was 8.2. I had my A1C taken a couple of weeks ago and it is already at 6. I am so excited by that!!! That is the best number I have…

You may want to check out a calorie deficit calculator like http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php. It takes into account your age, height, weight and activity level. It will help you learn what you need on a daily basis. If you are trying to lose weight, then you would take a deficit of this (15 -…

Hi Rae and welcome to MFP! You will find so many wonderful people that have similar goals as you. I have type2 diabetes and am trying to get that under control. I have been on MFP since January 3 and have lost almost 25 lbs. It is amazing to get healthy again...I've been unhealthy for so long! With honest and faithful…

Hi, Lisa, and welcome to MFP! It is a great place to meet people who are in a similar boat as you. You have already accomplished so much and I applaud you for that! Keep up the hard work!!! I am on every day, less on the weekends, and would love to support you along the way! Nancy

It all can be very confusing. I like to use a calorie deficit calculator like the one at http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php. It takes into account your height, weight, age and activity level. Eat a deficit (15 - 30%) of your daily calorie needs. It is really that simple. Good luck!

Welcome Cheryl! It already sounds like you are ready to make the changes you need for your health. My doctor has said that even just 15 minutes a day is good. The imprtant thing is just to get moving. You can find exercise videos on youtube or just a short walk. If you make it a priority, you will find the time.
-
Hi and eelcome to MFP! Not sure what changes you have already started. Measure and weigh your food and track it in the tool Get moving and track that as well. You can do this! Add me if you wish. Nancy

Hi Linda! Welcome to MFP! You can do this. You just need to faithfully and honestly entr your food and exercise. It will happen. It's not easy but it is doable. Feel freeto add me as a friend and I will support you!

Most of us here have been or are still in the same boat as you. Eat healthier and become more aware of your portions. Log in all your food and exercise and you will begin to see results. You can do this!!! I've been at it since Jan. 3 and have dropped 25 lbs. It isn't easy but it is possible!!!!

You may want to use a calorie deficit calculator to figure out how many calories you need to eat based on your height, weight, age, & activity level. I like to use http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php. After you figure that out, then you would begin eating a deficit of this to lose weight. If you…

Amazing!!! Congrats. Your hard work has paid off!!!

It happens to me a lot, especially on the right side of my stomach for some reason. The bruising goes away quickly. I have had no adverse reactions however.

Thank you for the support, everyone! I have had Type2 for almost 7 years and they said it could be controlled with diet and exercise. But, this stubbourn woman didn't hear it. She just got more lazy. NO MORE! I am determined to get it under control and (HOPEFULLY) off my insulin.
-
Don't be nervous. Face this head on and you will have success. I have a husband, kids, 2 jobs and quite a bit older than you. I've been on this journey since the first of the year and have already dropped 24 lbs. It is slow, but steady. You can do it too!!!
-
First of all, welcome to MFP! You will find that the community on here is very supportive. The first thing I would say is never go under 1200 calories. Remember, food is fuel. Your body needs fuel to function. You may want to look at a calorie deficit calculator (I like this one:…

Good for you that you are taking proactive action of your health. I wish I had been more proactive when I was first diagnosed 7 years ago. My A1C in August, 2012 - 8.4 A1C in January, 2013 - 8.1 A1C yesterday - 6 It can be done!!! Diet, exercise, testing and (for me) insulin have greatly reduced these numbers!!!

Hi Tami, Welcome to MFP! I just sent you a friend request. I am a type 2 diabetic, trying to get things under control. I've had success in the 3 months I've been on MFP. I don't have all the answers, but will coach and offer advice along the way. You have a lot of good reasons to start taking control of yourself. One thing…
