  • I bought the Padermo World Cuisine brand tabletop version from Amazon for about $25 and use it quite frequently. Don't waste your time on the handheld kind. Although it is much cheaper, it is harder to use. It comes with 3 blades - a ribbon style and 2 different thickness for spaghetti-like noodles. I believe Padermo World…
  • You look amazing! I too live in WI and would love to be friends. I'll send a friend request to you.
  • Nice transformation! Yeah, I'd say you made some progress. :)
  • Welcome to the journey of your lifetime. Glad you are here and making the first steps towards a healthier you. Please, feel free to add me as a friend. As background, I was really good about watching what I eat and getting in exercise back in early 2013 and I dropped nearly 35 lbs. Life got in the way (or you could say I…
  • I'm sorry that your roommates treat you this way. Don't even begin to listen to them or let it get you down. You are doing what you need to do to get yourself to a healthier you. No one should ever make you feel less of a person or judge you for what you are doing. We all need to make our own decisions and do what is…
  • Hi! I was fascinated by your story. I would love to follow your progress and support you any way I can. If you want, you can add me as a friend. My diary is open and always willing to help out. I have a mini goal of reaching Onderland (under 200 lbs) by 12/24/14. That is about 28 lbs for me.
  • Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!
  • Now that I am recommitting myself to my own healthy, I will be active in inspiring you. IN 2013, I was very supportive, but then life got in the way and I became lazy and then was horrible about commenting and showing support. I lost many "friends" during that time. But, so many people stuck by my side. Although, it can be…
  • I was very active in the early part of 2013 and then became lazy and all but went away. I have now recommitted myself to my health and have been deligently logging everything since a week ago. I have a mini goal of about 32 lbs to get me to under 200 lbs by Christmas, 2014. That is just my mini goal, ultimately, I would…
  • Target sells it. In my store, it is on the top shelf, above the regular peanut butter.
  • I am finally back on the site after "falling off the wagon" for the last several months. I am type 2 diabetic and struggle with my weight loss. However, I am back and stronger than ever. I live and work in SE Wisconsin and also love the Packers!!! :) I have sent you a friend request and would like to support you along your…
  • My diary is open and you are welcome to send me a friend request. I have been a diabetic since right before I turned 40 (8 years ago). I am on Lantus (50 units in morning and 50 units in evening - if no exercise is planned) and on Novolog (sliding scale based on my BG). I was really good about logging my food and activity…
  • Hi and welcome to MFP. I have been on the site for over a year. Did really well the 1st half of 2013 and then got lazy. But I am back it full-force again! I am 48 years old and have had type-2 diabetes since about age 40, and am on Novolog and Lantus. I find that when I start eating healthier and exercise my numbers are in…
  • I had a similar experience as Crochetluvr. I was doing so well in the first half of 2013 and lost just over 30 lbs. My blood sugar levels were in control and was taking hardly any insulin. Then, life got in the way and the excuses came back. I gained back nearly all of the weight I had lost and my blood sugars were…
  • I agree with the others...getting to a diabetic educator is probably the first step. And getting the referral or recommendation from your endo is important, because they would have worked together in the past and the educator can work as a communicator with the doctor. It really can be overwhelming, but it will eventually…
  • Welcome to MFP Type 2 Diabietes Support Group. You have found a great place to get answers. Just keep at doing what you are doing...eating according to what your doctor suggests and getting in excerise are two of the things that will help with those numbers. I have been living with diabetes for 8 years now. They started me…
  • I would agree, it would be a nice feature, but doubtful it would ever be a feature added. I track mine in glucosebuddy, but I don't also want to track food and exercise in there, since I track food and exercise here. I suppose the best we can do is add our our BG's into the notes section in our food diaries.
  • I understand your fear and hope that you don't need to start using insulin. However, going on insulin does not mean you will have to stay on insulin forever. Insulin will help you get your BG's under control while you are losing weight. It is far worse to have your BG levels out of control just so you can stay off the…

  • Like so many of the others, I too was in denial. For nearly 8 years! The doctor started by putting me on Metformin, but I really didn't control my eating. So, the doctor put me on Insulin. The amount of insulin I took was increased every time I went to the doctor. My doctor kept telling me that if I lost the weight and…
  • Your hard work has paid off. That is FANTASTIC!!! Keep it up!
  • Welcome to MFP and to this Forum. Congrats on making a healthier lifestyle and for your weight loss so far. That is the first step. You will find that by eating healthier and exercising (as soon as you are able), that your blood sugar levels will get better and your A1C will go down. I have had Type 2 for 8 years now and…

  • Don't Cry by Asia (totally 1980's song) Hard times you had before you I knew when I first saw you You girl you've always been mistreated, cheated So leave it all behind you It took so long to find you I know that we can last forever, ever and more, more, oh Don't Cry now that I've found you Don' Cry take a look around you…

  • Happy for you! It is good to know that you have found a support group that is working for you! Keep up the great work!!! You're worth it! Nancy
  • You have already gotten a lot of great advice. I agree that it is really by trial and error that you will find what will work for you. To start with, just be very good about tracking everything. There is a great site that I have found that helps me track what spikes my sugars. You can track your food, exercise, blood…
  • Your hard work is definitely paying off! Keep up the great work and you will achieve your goals before you know it.

  • You aren't eating enough. It is fine to have your goal at 1200 calories, but you then need to eat back the calories you burned from exercise. Remember that food is fuel and your body needs fuel to function.
