  • I've logged everyday for 100+ days. Feel free to add me.
  • From livestrong.com: http://www.livestrong.com/article/297072-my-feet-go-numb-on-the-elliptical-trainer/ Looks like it is the form while on the machine. I have the same problem and will try these suggestions tonight!
  • I have 3 - 24, 20 and 16. All boys and all live at home. Thow the husband in to the mix and that is 4 to 1. Tough being the only woman surrounded by these men!!! I have my 2 female furbabies, so at least that evens the scale a bit (sort of). :)
  • Your hard work and dedication is definitely showing!!! Keep up the hard work. You will reach your goals before you know it. Congrats!!!
  • Those are amazing results!!! Congratulations! You can be very proud or your accomplishments. You have worked hard and it shows!
  • Welcome to MFP and to this support group. Like Robert mentions, educating yourself is a very important step and a class or a visit with a diabetic nutritionist would be invaluable. You can get better control of your diabetes by watching what you eat, tracking everything you put in your mouth and exercising. I was diagnosed…
  • Welcome!!! I would love to support you along the way. I am 47 and have about 64 more lbs to lose. I joined awile ago, but only got serious since the first of the year. Work hard and you will start to see results! Send me a friend request if you'd like.
  • Midge, thank you for reaching out to us here on this discussion group. It is very scary and a lot to take in. Like others have said, a course or a session with a nutritionist will help you better understand what you should eat. A lot of it will also be trial and error. You will eat something and it will spike your blood…
  • Hi Heather!!! Welcome to MFP! I wish I could say that I forget to eat. I have quite the opposite issue. Before starting with MFP I would eat and eat and eat and seemed to never fill up. I knew that the foods I put in my mouth were not good for me, but it tasted so good. I live in WI and we have a lot of fried foods,…

  • Hi Cathy, welcome to MFP! I too am 47 years young. I have about 65 lbs yet to lose (lost 24 since 1/3/13). MFP is a great tool, but it only works if you make the effort. Log everything you eat and all the exercise you get and you will begin to see results. Send me a friend request if you'd like.
  • I have had that when I use my phone. If it doesn't synchronize, then I just don't add the food. I just add later when I get a signal. Welcome to MFP!
  • Congratulations on taking the first step by finding MFP. You have already done the hard part by introducing yourself on the forums. If you accurately and honestly track your food each and every day (good and bad), you will begin to see results. I have been on MFP since 1/3/13 and have dropped 24 lbs. It has not been easy,…
  • Welcome to MFP! I have been tracking since the first of the year and have dropped 24 lbs. I have a long way to go, but it is really making sense to me. Using the app is a lot easier if you weight and measure all your food. I pull out my food scale and measuring cups/spoons at every meal. My kids (who are adults/nearly an…
  • Welcome to MFP! You have definitely found a great place to meet supportive people who have similar goals as you - to get healthy! You have taken the first step by introducing yourself. That is always hard. Send me a friend request if you'd like. I've been tracking since the first of the year and have dropped 24 lbs. I…

  • There will be a lot of discussion around the 1200 calorie diet. May will say that you should not go below 1200 calories and you should eat back your exercise calories. I agree with this. Others will argue that they always stay at 1200 calories and continue to lose weight. Since you said you would like to lose the remaining…
  • Hi Seth, I am a 47 year old woman that has had Type 2 diabetes for almost 7 years. My doctors kept telling me to watch what I eat, lose weight and exercise and I would be able to control my diabetes. But, for 7 years, I didn't really believe them. Since January 3, 2013, I have started tracking my food in MFP. I have also…
  • Welcome to MFP! I have never heard that before. I would think that if you want it bad enough and work really hard, you can achieve any success you want. I used to tell people that my body was most comfortable at about 220 - 230 lbs because I had been that weight for about 20 years. I am down below that now (212) and I want…

  • 5565+24=5589 Love this idea!
  • I would lower your calories, slightly. I went to fitwatch.com and used their calorie deficit calculator to figure out what your daily calorie needs are. You don't list your age, so I am just taking a guess based on the information you provided. If you are 25 your daily calorie needs are 2381, if you are 30, then 2353. Eat…
  • I agree the TDEE data gets very confusing, so many numbers. I like to use fitwatch calorie deficit calculator (http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php) to help understand what I should eat. It takes into account your age, height, current weight and activitiy level. You eat a deficit of your daily…
  • PB2 is good, but don't expect it to be just like peanut butter. It comes in powder form, so you would add water to make it spreadable. If you like the sweetness of peanut butter, then add a little splenda. Add less water to make it thicker and more water to thin it out more. People use it in their protein shakes. I never…
  • I can tell that you have great motivation and have worked hard for this!!! Keep it up! Before you know it, you'll be getting those new knees!!!
  • Cocoa, Brownie, Blackie or Twix. :) Just realized 3 of those names are foods. Am I hungry?? So adorable!
  • I use lean ground beef (or lean ground turkey) mini meatloaves, meatballs and burgers using the same recipe. Chop up whatever veggies you like (I have done all of these red, green, yellow bell peppers, zuchini, onions, mushrooms, carrotts, and spinach). Add a squirt or two of ketchup and some salt and pepper (to taste).…
  • - You should not eat below 1200 calories. You should try to hit that as close as you can. - If you eat 1200 calories and exercise, then you should be eating those exercise calories. Your body needs fuel to function and food is the fuel. Don't deprive your body of what it needs. - To bulk up your meals, eat lean meats (fish…

  • Very nicely put. I thought you were much older as I was reading and then looked at your profile and realized you were 20 years old. Very insightful!!! Keep up your good work and positive attitude. It is catchy!
  • Congratulations for starting your journey on MFP. You have already taken a big step by introducing yourself. I don't have all the answers, but am really good at support. Please add me if you'd like. You can do this. You know the steps and have had success in the past.
  • You are doing incredibly well!!! You should be very proud of your achievement. Keep up the good work!
  • I love what MistressAella quoted. That is so perfect!!! You can do this. Don't give up. Look at all the progress you have already made. 48 lbs is nothing to sneeze at!!! you know how to do this, now do it!!!
  • Welcome back! Feel free to add me. I am a 47 year old female and need to lose another 60+ lbs. :)
