  • Why are you ruining your coffee??? The only thing ACV will do is make you eat less of whatever food you add it to because it's no longer delicious. It's supposed to help with heartburn and sore throats but I have found the opposite to be true. I've lost 80 lbs this year at age 49/50. No ACV. No chia. No hard workouts. Just…
  • I am 50. I have a mirena (this is my second one) and have lost 76 lbs this year. It never caused me to gain.
  • I'm 50 now, but I'm down 75 pounds since April (7 months ago). Currently 180lbs. I have a desk job and a long commute, so I'm lucky if I walk more than 5000 steps a day. I lost the weight from diet alone. 1200 calories.
  • I agree. When she first said that her weight loss had stopped, she said she didn't understand it because she was getting in all of her protein and water. As if that's all that someone would need.
  • Besides the great advice that everyone else gave, my advice would be to tell yourself, every day, just to get through that ONE day. that's your goal. get through that one day sticking to whatever plan you've laid out for yourself. and if you don't stick to it exactly (like if you go over your calorie goal or you give in to…
  • I'm in a very similar situation. I started this year at 254 and today I'm 180. I wear anywhere from a 10-14 pants. I feel great, but I still have areas of excess weight. I'd like to lose more, but I don't really know how much. My doctor said 140, but really, whatever I can get down to will be fine with me. Do what makes…
  • You're lifting weights and running and probably retaining some water in your muscles because of that (if you're sore, then you're definitely retaining fluid). But eating great does not necessarily mean you're not over eating. Are you counting calories? If you're trying to lose weight, then you have to eat less, not just…
  • I'm 50 and lost 75lbs so far in the last 6 months (my losses have drastically slowed down now). I do eat meat, but I also eat very healthy. I can tell you that even without meat, its easy to consume more calories than you think. oils, dressings, and sauces can all be deceiving if you don't measure. also, beans are high in…
  • Thank you so much! I'm in a 12/14 and if nothing changed, I'd feel ok about this too. It's a whole lot better than size 20! I know plenty of people would feel terrible about weighing 180, but I'm SUPER proud of it. lol
  • I think one problem is you need to strengthen your communication skills. It's not really a "wow" though. That calorie burn sounds suspiciously high btw.
  • I've lost 75 at age 50. In 6 months (which is super fast and not recommended). If you're not losing after a week or two, you're probably eating too much, but you also have to give it time... sometimes the scale won't move even though you've lost fat. If you just started working out, you may be retaining water. Watch for…
  • yes, I know... I've lifted before. :) (I was just eating much more when I did)
  • Oh, awesome! thanks for the advice. I used to lift (a lot) and now I feel very weak. I'm sure it's a combination of low calorie eating and actual muscle loss. I've started doing some ab work at home to strengthen my core and it's tough, but I feel better for doing it.
  • I'm sorry that happened to you. My grandmother used to talk about my weight to my mom and her siblings all the time. How worried she was about me. She took my husband aside one time and asked of there was anything he could do. I was 250lbs. I lost 100 lbs and saw her again. She didn't say a word about how I looked so I…
  • You got it! I sent you a friend request
  • Thank You! I started in April of this year (6 months ago). High protein, low cal, low sugar (almost none other than fruit).
  • what weight can someone gain by not eating? you mean water weight? that comes off eventually along with fat, so the solution is to not weigh every day. To the original poster: If you're working out that hard, I'm guessing that you're retaining some water from some sore muscles. additionally, you do need to drink a lot more…
  • I'm 50 and have lost a lot of weight in the last 6 months. The only exercise I do is walking, and it's not a LOT... I've only hit 10,000 steps a few times. It all comes down to calories. I often have a few days where I don't lose anything. I went 2 weeks with hardly any loss recently, but then the loss started back up…
  • if you work at hooters. or you're a flight attendant. or you need to fit into a costume or uniform.
  • I have yo-yo'd my entire life. I seem to be an "all or nothing" kind of gal, so I'm either super strict about what I eat, or... I eat anything I want. keeping track of what I eat is the only thing that helps. Obviously, eating in a calorie deficit is what makes me lose, but I don't go as completely off track if I'm…
  • neither one of those will help. moisturized skin isn't any more elastic than dry skin, and strength training adds muscle... It doesn't effect the skin. The only thing that strength training will do is fill you out with muscle, but unless you're putting on a decent amount of muscle, it's not likely to make much of a…
  • A dragon, a unicorn, and a ghost walk into a bar. Nobody eats anything and they all gain weight. The end.
  • Either you're eating more than you think (make sure you count creamer, oil, butter, dressing, sauces, juices and soda) or you're retaining water from sore muscles. Most likely it's the food.
  • your lunch has no protein, which you need more of.... add some beans to your salad and you'll get more protein, you'll feel full longer, and it's good for you. that's all supposing that you're already logging accurately.
  • You'll hear a click first and you'll know you're in starvation mode. Jump around to see if you can click it off again. Sorry. I'm being a wiseass. There's no such thing as starvation mode. Show me an Anorexic who isn't losing.... Nothing will happen to you if you only eat 800 calories for a week. People with the flu, or a…
  • Great job! You look younger and fantastic!
  • I think that on the surface, that sounds like an easy plan, but how many of us make a simple change like that and find themselves thinner at the end of the year without trying anything else. Most of us will make other, not-so-great changes as well that completely counter-act the slight deficit ("oh look, a frozen yogurt…
  • There's no such thing as starvation mode. Show me someone who is starving themselves and not losing weight. lol... To the original poster, if you're eating back your exercise calories, you may be drastically over estimating how much that is. additionally, if you're lifting weights, your body will retain some water as your…
  • You're only a year older than my daughter. I'm going to share something with you about a conversation I had with her (she is tall, gorgeous, active, curvy, and a perfect weight). She was showing me pics of an old friend of hers. A girl who is quite heavy. My daughter said, "omg, she's the CUTEST! I love her". No mention of…
