  • As others have said, make sure this is what your doctor wants and consult a nutritionist. What i would do is eat very low carb, low calorie. So no more than 1200 calories a day (if you're eating good food, this will not harm you for this amount of time) and stick to mostly low fat proteins and vegetables. So lots of eggs…
  • Great job! You look fantastic!
  • Congrats on the loss! If you read back your own post, you said no more fad diets or yo yo dieting, which is great. No more depriving yourself either, so you are really adapting to a much healthier and sustainable way of eating. With that, you can really eat like this, long term, right? But with that smart way of eating,…
  • You didn't gain 4 lbs of fat. Could be water weight and some waste still in your system. Drink a lot of water today.
  • I was your exact weight a few months ago. I'm down to 218 today and even though that's still overweight... I have to tell you... It feels a WHOLE lot better. I have a few bits of advice. 1. You may have heard that weight loss is not linear. that means that the scale isn't always going to go down. sometimes for days or…
  • This is completely not true. JennyF - you were used to eating more than you should have. Whether you were used to it mentally, physically, or both, it will take some time to adjust to eating less, and some of that adjustment may come in the form of hunger (which may be partially mental as well). One thing I've done is save…
  • I've lost 34 pounds in around 9 weeks. I feel great and have more energy. Before i started losing, I ate a lot of junk food and sugar. Now i eat mostly lean protein, fruits and veggies. My hair is thicker than it's ever been and my nails are growing fast. I may be an exception, and I'm sure it's because I didn't just…
  • i eat really low calorie and my weight fluctuates. I know it's not actual weight gain, because I'm not eating enough to gain weight. This week, I'm up a pound. It will come off though - it could be anything. give yourself more time.
  • Are you exercising? Lifting weights? did you just start doing either of these? Have you had a lot of sodium? Have you ever noticed if you retain water during certain times of the month? Are you drinking a lot of water?
  • Unsweetened almond milk on its own or with protein powder. Greek yogurt with jam or Greek yogurt with olive oil and salt and pepper Cottage cheese Genepro makes a fairly flavorless protein you can mix into soups. Vital protein makes one that mixes well in coffee or anything. Low fat cheese Egg whites
  • Is this why people with anorexia and are all skin and bones eat 1200 calories? Oh wait, no they don't. They often hardly eat at all and get thinner and thinner. Crazy.
  • I didn't recommend it. Nobody did. The "follow up" care that you're referring to usually happens before surgery. Nobody I know who has had WLS has had a meeting with a dietician afterwards. And honestly, your definition of "intensive follow-up care" is not really "intensive" at all. In fact, I know a few people who went to…
  • is this why there were so many fat people in concentration camps? their bodies weren't letting go of all the fat?
  • what kind of medical care do you think post weight loss surgery patients get? Yes, he'd be under medical care and probably see a doctor 1 week, 1 month and maybe 3 or 6 months after surgery to check his incisions and get weighed and make sure he feels ok. None of that changes the amount he's eating. What WOULD be…
  • If you had had weight loss surgery, you would be eating a similar amount of calories, so I don't believe that the amount of calories will cause you to hurt yourself. BUT, you would also be required to have a fair amount of protein, which you may not be getting with the small amount of chicken you're eating. Additionally,…
  • 2 more: when people use absolutes because they lost 20 lbs and they are now a weight loss expert. "You need to eat more." "You're eating too much carbs." "That's not sustainable." As if they KNOW. Also, I know a few people who think their weight is effected by silly things. Like if they drink a glass of water before bed,…
  • Starvation mode? Please explain what that is. Is that the reason why starving people in concentration camps are so fat? Also, how you think your body gained fat from the little bit of remaining calories you hadn't burned off from running?
  • ha. same here. as someone who eats below 1200 calories, seeing someone talk about 'starvation mode' (what IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE?) or tell me I'm going to die or gain weight is a just funny.
  • OP...i may be one if the few who isn't going to suggest that you're eating more than you think. For medical reasons, I eat about 700 calories a day. Even if I am off, I'm not off by hundreds. In the last week I've had no loss. I've been walking and drinking plenty of water. It's happened before...within a week or 2 the…
  • Please explain how losing weight slowly will make someone's skin more elastic. Or provide a medically proven link. Skin elasticity is genetic, and is not determined by how quickly or slowly someone loses. This is a myth.
  • What she said. ^ The heart is a muscular organ. Anorexics, who experience long term, severe calorie and protein restriction can eventually experience heart failure, but consuming 1200 calories for a few months, especially if it's protein rich, nutritious food, is not a problem. And certainly not anything to instill fear of…
  • Don't worry about one week. For medical reasons, I eat very little and have around 50 lbs to lose. Sometimes for days at a time I don't lose a thing. A few times, my weight even went up slightly. I dont eat enough to gain weight so it could have been any number of reasons, but...it eventually moved again. Yours will too.
  • Eating more is not the answer. There's no "slow down mode" or anyone with anorexia, anyone who survived a concentration camp, anyone who lost their appetite from cancer treatment, or anyone who had weight loss surgery would not lose weight.
  • When I was 20 lbs heavier, (a month ago), I snored. Now I don't. I'm sure the weight had something to do with it.
  • It's a typo. Scrutinize.
  • I appreciate the concern from people here, since you can see my diary (unlike my coworker), and this is the appropriate place to comment. I don't have an eating disorder. I had surgery a month ago on my esophagus. Just saw my doc yesterday and I'm doing great.
  • How about... don't assume anything. :) The woman who wouldn't let up has never seen me eat before. I work at a HUGE company and we've never crossed paths. The coworker who told her to drop it knows why I was eating so little. it's probably best not to assess my weightloss habits without knowing anything else, no? I found…
  • I'm glad you're amused LOL I don't think I claimed to be so hungry. I just agreed with someone else who said they were hungry. A few people in the room were not eating at all so there was no reason to go on and on about what I was eating and calling attention to it. There could have been any number of reasons why I was…
  • Well yeah. I would too. :)
