I tried low-fat, lasted less than 24 hours! All I could see was my cat and I siting outside collecting change after I lost job and became homeless. Fat helps keep your moods balanced. I think my diet is generally less fat so my low fat was probably too much of a shock to my system. I recently tried with a friend 60 days of…

I hope they pay! I recently joined and had to weigh out the odds. If I'm successful I'll guess it was worth it :)

I came to the conclusion that I get up to go to work and give them all the best of myself and then try and take what's leftover to work on myself. That is what motivated me to get up early and use that time for me, I come first and get the best of what I can give and they can have the rest ;) Also, I am going to be tired…

I just looked up Healthywage since I recently changed from my Fitbit to an Apple Watch so I am looking for some accountability / competition. Fitbit was great but I would get to caught up with getting steps and not working out as much as needed to. Initially I lost 84 lbs here and gained back some and now I am looking to…

I feel your pain, here in the San Francisco Bay Area there are so many fires that it makes me wonder what to do. Should I go for it (it doesn't seem to be bother other people :) ) or do what I think makes sense . . . I weighed myself this morning and came to the conclusion that I have to find a happy/healthy balance.

I guess you could work around responding without lying ;) You are doing what you need to do for yourself and if and when you choose to have that conversation that is what you can share with them. During the process you did what you needed for your sake and well being, no apologies necessary. All of us have had to figure…

Nuts, cheese and potatoes. They can be worked into your calorie goals.

Not sure if this will help but as I went down, I either took up my clothes or got rid of clothing that was replaced by smaller sizes so there was no real option to lose focus and gain back any weight. It might also be useful if you are exercising to challenge yourself, when you can find something other than food/diet to…

First suggestion, keep weighing yourself, you will learn your fluctuations and that they are annoying - but important to know. As for the TOM cravings, they will be with you while losing weight and beyond so my suggestion is to keep track so you will absolutely know what is going on and manage the cravings but don't try…

As something to motivate or acknowledge body movements - I’m all for it. When I see young adults, riding electric scooters or electric bikes along with Uber type availability, I think teaching young ones the importantance of being active with a gadget is where we are headed.

Go to the Apps tab and select the Fitbit App . . .

I did Nutrisystem years ago and there were a few things that just didn't work for me. But, I can say that I did learn some things that probably have helped with MFP. - You will learn portion size - You will expand your eating preferences - I remember a meal with peppers, something that would never have eaten in the past,…

Not sure what your goal is or why you feel you need to reach this everyday when it doesn't seem to fit your lifestyle. Maybe you should try changing your diet on the weekends so that you have less pressure feeling like you need to reach your N.E.A.T. Just offering an option that might be easier for the long term :)

I had someone give me a fragrance . . . then asked how I liked it and mentioned that his mother really liked it :|

I think you have a good idea about the healthy benefits of losing weight but there are so many little things that we gain back that we didn't realize we lost. Things like tying your shoes or even bending down to pickup something without a second thought, saying yes to that invite to go on a hike or an amusement park or a…

Sorry, this would be an issue for me as well so I am willing to get up at 4:30 to get to the gym then back home with time to cook and get ready for work. It takes some planning and organizing but for me it really helps get my day started on a good note!

I have a love - hate relationship with jumping rope (hate from usually when is slaps me someplace) ;) It is a really good workout, one of those that makes you feel like you're a BOSS when you finish. I have an interval timer that I use to do a 10 minute workout, start slow and build it up - enjoy!!!

Hello and welcome to MFP! Where to start, try logging what you are eating now, then take a look at where you can realistically start cutting calories. The snacking is for lack of a better term a learned habit that can be re-learned or managed better. Learning what serving sizes are are and what your triggers are is sort of…

I like my 40's in fact so much - I'm doing them over! When I turned 40, it was no big deal, especially since my 30's basically sucked. Your 40's seem to be filled with so much growth and potential and from where I am today what I see with my 50's are changes beyond my control . . . grey hairs, body changes, changes in life…

Congratulations! Weight loss is definitely about more than just managing to lose weight, for some of us its about have a better quality of life, taking some responsibility for our health and learning to eat-to-live and not living-to-eat! Great job!

I agree with the other suggestions. Getting a really nice wine glass thats smaller might not seem like a real solution but the mind is easily tricked at times. I will help you knowing you can't fill it to the rim for each glass but you will still have the feeling on having the one glass and maybe that second one just to…

. . . binge is so subjective here. Some of the things I do to help with this is 1) Never eat straight from the package, which means using a bowl or saucer (the smaller the better). 2)If I am really together, I will pre-log the second helping and usually seeing the numbers will bring me back to reality. 3) If is it…

Yes, Overall Health is really the best way to look at things. I know we get numbers stuck in our heads about what we should weigh but then all the other stuff gets lost. Do we have any stamina, do we love the way we look, lots of other numbers our doctors can help us understand ;) Keep up the good work and keep looking for…

From personal experience 1) I would not share my goal weight with anyone, I did with someone I thought would be super supported by and it didn't work out that way! 2) You may find yourself incredibly happy at a number you never imagined you could be happy with. I had a real heart to heart with my doctor and we came up with…

I will second the suggestion for exercise. Now I am not necessarily talking about an all out workout plan with equipment. etc.., But something as simple as Arm Circles or Wall Push Ups. Let me share, I initially started the gym with a trainer and told him I would not do anything that required me to get on the floor ;) I…

Currently, I want my clothes to fit better - I am not willing to start a new wardrobe and I never kept any of my larger clothes. Initially I wanted to get off High Blood Pressure meds and basically just not turn into my mother. I saw her supersized pill caddie and a glimpse of my future :)
-
At times I have thrown away junk food because for me the process was twofold - 1) I would see the waste of my money and 2) seeing items I like but don't need going to waste helped me make better choices in the future. If donating works for you then that is a great option. My option to help manage this was to eat better…

Numbers suck . . . age, weight, height, we get caught up with the numbers and lose sight of other things that are just as important. I say this because we sort of all have our own version of your story and just about with the same results - a lot of frustration not being what we think we should be. At 49, I just realized I…

I get where you are coming from and for several reasons went through some of the same anxiety. It's more than just looking hot ;) it's also coming to terms with your new body. I believe it will pass, some of the suggestions are good. At the absolute minimum try working out doing things you never thought you could. Even…

I'm lost . . . you wake up at noon, break your fast at 4:00 pm?? . . . last snack is at 4:00 pm??? That means you are eating for 12 hours from I believe 4:00 pm to 4:00 am with a 12 hour fast. I would not call that fasting. My eating schedule is 11:00 am - 8:00 pm.
