Start with the Dr. but be prepared to hear that it may just be what it is. If you and your Dr. decide to try anything to 'fix' it have a real frank discussion regarding the side effects of each option. I think I was about that age when mine went from every 3 month to monthly (28 days) then around 40 or so it decided it…

7/11 - 11.96 7/12 - 8.28 7/13 - 11.94 Total - 129.30 I would like to reach at least goal over the weekend but maybe not ;)

No I don't wash mine but I do go through it for the little personally deemed inedible pieces :) My friend caught me doing this once and thought I was crazy but Oh-Well!

Just to add my two cents, for some of us doing cardio is beneficial for not just the reasons noted above but it can really help with ones mental state. So maybe you could actually benefit from doing some and by the way I haven't done in a while :|

Basically no! But I would suggest some other types of things that may work on the sly! I think we generally don't like being left out so if you start doing something for the betterment of something this may nudge him in the right direction. I mean doing anything not having to do with food or exercise but that has a result…

Lilymay you are so right about setting goals for our exercise as well as other areas of our lives. I used to do that but now I just seem to have problems focusing on much of anything worthwhile :) I keep telling myself no more FitBit Challenges and then along comes on and I reason I will just use it to keep moving . . . I…

Congrats on your success!! It is so much easier for some people to seek out that magic leprechaun with that very special potion than to actually except that is takes some knowledge, self control and responsibility to lose weight. Congratulations again, you have found the secret.

You don't really need to exercise to get to a healthy weight but I do understand how you feel. You can look to be more active as opposed to actual exercise. Supposedly fidgety people burn more calories than those that don't fidget :) When I started, though I was going to the gym for a short period I also tried to stretch…

My motivations change. Generally I just want to be as healthy as possible. Today, after being pissed off royally by a lazy co worker my thought was I want to just make sure I look better than her, but that's a given and subjective so my motivation is to be stronger - and the motivation behind that is strong in mind and…

Welcome to MFP, this is my before and after if sorts. I started at 244 at 43 and now I'm still pretty close to that but about 166 currently. My goal was 144 but at 146 I didn't look like I was healthy. I started just by trying to make changes that I could really live with and getting active. Now I will be the first one to…

What was my plan . . . well I guess I had several. I started with just taking a real look at what I was eating and looked to make changes I felt I could live with forever - like no cheese on sandwiches/burgers, no mayo, I did cut out pasta and rice (1/2 serving was never going to work) things I would put over rice I put…

The balancing of the scales for being a women ;) I am entering that phase at 48 (49 in August) so after losing 84 pounds in my early-mid 40's I know just trying to lose the next 15 and maintain at a happy place has started to become more challenging. I think it may take some redirecting of goals. While we tend to focus a…

I think the key points to get from above are, listen to your body, LOG everything regardless, that info can become priceless :) For me, I started at 44, lost weight (not sure if is was hard or not, though I did have some days when I cried, etc) and gained some back. Now at 48 (49 in August) I have learned that the body…

I'm still here! This group is a little quiet :) I have been consistent with my logging for 1475 days, haven't lost any weight in a while. I have been thinking about resetting my start weight, maybe that will motivate me to get focused. SW - 244 GW - 144/154 made it to 148, didn't like how I looked so I hoped to be around…

Sorry to hear about your bad day, but you seem to have gotten past it and found a way to overcome it. One of the greatest comments that someone shared with me was that you would have days when no matter how excited you were and how ready you might be it just won't work out. This is was reference to running but applies to…

Still at it . . . I am actually liking this because it makes me stop and do more strength workouts because I am not so focused on steps. :) 6/19 - 12.13 6/20 - 12.60 6/21 - 12.64 6/22 - 12.67 6/23 - 12.59 . . oh, how I tried to get in those steps. 6/24 - 7.61 6/25 - 7.14 Week total - 77.38 Total to date 258.92

I agree with this, it's the 'forbidden fruit' syndrome :) just try and work it in to your calorie goal and if you set aside not only the calories but the food it won't be so tempting and at times easier to resist.

I started at 244 5'2" doing 15 minutes of cardio via a PT with the goal of working up to 30 minutes. It really didn't take that long. It doesn't have to be continuous just regular. At that time I could just make it the 15-18 minute walk to the bus stop when someone suggested maybe I would start walking to work (3 miles) -…

Wow, this is really frustrating me, the reality is that even though this past week I started slow I still missed a day :/ 6/12 - 5.88 6/13 - 8.36 6/14 - 8.64 6/15 - 7.27* 6/16 - 9.66 6/17 - 10.51 6/18 - 10.69 Week total - 61.01 Total to date 181.54

Everything good :) I think I was more surprised by serving sizes than calories, at the point where you really try and work with the numbers it can be so frustrating balancing the serving sizes. Tortilla Chips (all chips, why come in such large bags when I'm only supposed to eat 12), Candy, Nuts, Beef :o Somethings we have…

For some reason, I healthy or not just pretty much cooked two meals for as long as I can remember - my baby will be 26 on 6/20 :) Even now, for my office husband, I cook two meals most of the time. I just tend to be more concerned with what I am eating and don't really want to hear any comments - like how many days in a…

I seem to do well with Body Weight Strength Training, I have been using the FitStar App and the Runtastic apps. You can also lookup some of the fitness websites like Shape and PopSugar for other workouts. Since I am so competitive even with myself when I do something that I don't really care for I try and keep at it until…

I made through my first full week, learned a lesson: Do not start of week with 12 miles :) 6/5 - 12.73 6/6 - 13.46 6/7 - 13.04 - slight hiccup :# 6/8 - 14.56 6/9 - 15.37 6/10 - 6.82 6/11 - 11.43 Total to date 120.51
-
06/05 - 12.73 06/06 - 13.46 Total - 59.29 I am off Thursday and Friday and rain is on the forecast for Thursday but I am going to try and keep up with step goal.

It's okay to shed a few, at 46 I cried at some points. Give yourself some time to learn about nutrition and also learn to listen to your body. Nothing really works well without fuel, even if for a time its not optimal fuel :) Whatever you would have eaten before MFP, eat less. You can lose weight eating what works for you…

Thanks, Lilymay :) 06/01 - 9.72 06/02 - 9.82 - I made but barely! 06/03 - 6.17 06/04 - 7.39
-
06/01 - 9.72 . . . it's almost 5:30 and I only have 5.82 miles so far, but I am going to really try and meet my goal of at least 9.73 miles today!! I will be really upset with myself if I don't really try.
-
Oh Yeah! My initial goal was 144, at 148 I looked about 148 years old :) I agree it is very unfair, but after stopping the weight loss and starting weight training I was able to lose some inches while gaining some weight also not fair, but liking what I saw. Once you stop losing your body will collect some fact back in…

I understand what you are saying and I've been there to some extent. When I started the process of getting healthy, while there was no discussion I knew my SO was attracted to larger women but I didn't see that ending things. But I was able to get through it (of course since then he has tried several times to get back in…
