I suspect whether this could be considered an addiction will vary between people depending on why they do it. For me it wasn't an addiction - I was a chunky teenager and I was ashamed for anyone to see me eating junk food. I didn't want to feel judged/humiliated any more than I already was.

Rarely eat cereal anymore, but when I did, I always had a glass of milk on the side. Never on the cereal.

Don't know of any studies proving that GMOs are harmful to health. I do know that there is a lot of concern over harm to the environment, reduced genetic variability of crops, etc.

You could try using quinoa flour. Still plenty of carbs, but more protein than you get from traditional wheat flour.

You say you lost 66 pounds in a little over a year. I believe the suggested rate for reasonable, sustainable weight loss is 1 pound per week. You seem to be losing faster than that, so I don't think you have anything to worry about.
