These thing are going to be a part of everyday life. There's no use in avoiding every social occasion for fear of what food might be there. Eat in moderation and try to make it fit within your daily goals.

As far as it concerns the vast majority of MPF users, YES it is.

Not mine but pretty damn hilarious.

^ Yagisama....do you see what we are talking about now? These special snowflakes? If you have a caloric deficit, you WILL lose weight NO EXCEPTIONS. The metabolism may slow down but never to the point where you stop losing or even gain. Thank you amwbox and mrm27....great info there.

I read somewhere muscle loss (or being skinnyfat) has more to do with not eating enough protein rather than excessive exercise. Some please clarify preferable with a source. Seriously. Someone put it best when they said most "why am I not losing weight" topics end up like this: OP: Im not losing weight help. Reply1: Are…

in...for people who think they can defy the energy balance equation.

A very concise tl;dr for all the good advice you're ignoring. Maybe you should start weighing in daily and watch the trend.

Seems like you've passed the benchmark for every "why am I not losing" thread, so I'm not sure what could be happening. If you truly are not losing at 1300 you definitely wont lose by increasing your calories. You mentioned high cortisol which may be causing water retention but its unlikely that would last for months. This…

The OP is logging 2 slices of pizza 208 cals. He doesn't need to eat more. Even so to gain six pounds of fat, he would have to been eating an excess of 10.5k calories over maintenance for two weeks.
-
You're missing the point, but whatever.
-
Seriously. Weight loss is not linear. Jjust because water weight gain didn't happen THAT time doesn't mean it won't happen under similar circumstances. The body doesn't work as neat and tidily as you would like to think.

LOL nice....... I stand corrected.

Less than 1% of the global population is not rare?

So all the posts telling you they were a waste of money and do absolutely nothing were rude and unsupportive while the one post that condones their usage is like the most helpful response ever?

QFT. In any case, I think "cyber-bullying" :indifferent: is much more productive than white knighting.

Listen lady, plenty of people have answered the question. How you chose to interpret it is a different matter.

That's insane O_o very well done

No they can't starve to death because starvation mode makes them hold on to all their fat
-
what "different resources"? What is the point of even having fat if it is just going to sit there like a dumbass while you're supposedly starving to death? Your body wont begin to burn muscle as its primary fuel source unless under extremely dire circumstances; the likes of which the majority of people on MFP will never…

Yes, weight loss is not linear. You can easily be holding to water weight (which will eventually give way) because exercise and caloric limitation stresses the body. Eat more, not because of some stupid idea that you magically hold on to all your fat if you don't eat enough but because A) it will help preserve muscle mass…

If you're not losing, you aren't at a calorie deficit. PERIOD. Stop telling her to eat more. It's either water retention or there's something amiss with the tracking. Worst case scenario there is a thyroid issue going on. It's nearly impossible to be 287, eat at 1300 cals and not lose. This too.
-
This. We can't give you much info because we don't have much to go by, but if you aren't losing at 1200 then you damn sure wont be losing at 1300. And if you do, then you weren't really eating at 1200. How much weight do you have to lose?

Yeah your metabolism does slow down, but the extent is over-exaggerated. Going back to the MN Experiment, their BMR went down 40%. HOWEVER, this was after six months of eating at half of their recommended calories AND 25% of the slowdown was simply because they weighed less (and therefore had less daily caloric need) and…

Everything Aaron said and/or you could have been overestimating caloric burns and underestimating calories. These scenarios are far, far more likely than "starvation mode" Very good read from a reliable source. The decrease in RMR is more attributable to the actual weight loss itself rather than the machinations of…

Anorexics. How do they work???

This is one of the guys from the much touted Minnesota Experiment: Look at all that fat his body held on to while he was in "starvation mode"!!!
