  • Did anyone else read this post to the tune of The 12 Days of Christmas? OK, seriously - I suspect many of us have weeks like that. If we get in extra exercise, lots of water and some healthy eating, you can undo the negative effects.
  • I ran outside all last winter. I wore breathable layers, including a scarf across my face to help filter that cold air, and I loved it - and I HATE cold weather. I found that after the first 10 minutes, I warmed up and was in the zone.
  • karin - it sounds like you have a lot to be thankful for today. Enjoy that prosecco!
  • Hello fellow Canadians! I'm from Toronto (well, actually I'm from Rhode Island, but I live in Toronto!)
  • How did I miss this thread! Hello to my fellow lushes! Wine is my weakness - I love the stuff. I actually calculate how much time I have to spend in the gym so that I don't have to give it up. I have cut down from my "worst" behaviour - but certainly haven't cut it out of my life. As of this morning, I'm officially down 20…
  • This is me too. I seem to run best when I have Guns n Roses, AC/DC, NIN, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickleback, Soundgarden or lost of classic rock pouring out of my headphones. The second best music for me to run to is disco - embarrassing, but the beat is perfect for my pace.
  • A big YUP to that. When I started, running for 1 minute was torture. Now I run for 10 minutes, then walk for 1 minute, and can run 10k that way and not feel like I want to die or have someone kill me when I am done. You can do it - just build up slowly. I did the Couch to 5K program through week 5, then switched to my own…
  • I have the same issue. I'm down 20 pounds (lost before I joined here), but also am down 3 clothing sizes. I"m losing way more inches than pounds. People are telling me that I'm shrinking before their eyes - but the scale certainly isn't showing it. It is frustrating - so I try to focus on how my clothes fit.
  • Wine is my hobby - and I most certainly haven't given it up. I've picked up the pace of my exercise to make sure that I more than offset those wine calories. I've lost 20 pounds over the last 3 months (yes, a bit slower than some are losing) - so it can be done.
  • iTunes gift cards - to refresh my running playlist good running socks gift certificates to sports stores - to buy new exercise clothing (cute new clothes always are a way to boost workouts) healthy cooking cookbooks
  • YAY - fellow newbies! I've been thinking of adding speed and hill training to my routine - but tonight ran (5k) for the first time since my race on Sunday and am in serious pain - I think I have shin splints. I have great shoes, so they aren't the issue - but I think my body just still is trying to adapt to all this…
  • A friend of mine did the following to raise funds for her breast cancer 3 day: (a) emailed every single person she knew - I mean everyone - explaining why the charity meant a lot to her - and asking them to donate; (b) approached local businesses that she frequents and asked them to either donate product/gift certificates…
  • For me, the evening is the best time - but that is because I am SO not a morning person. I schedule my workout like a meeting for work and am not allowed to sit down at home or have dinner until I've gotten it done.
  • Leftovers - whole wheat pasta with homemade tomato sauce.
