After surgery your best investment would be for a personal trainer - even if for only one month. He or She will get you on the right track. Worth the money, for your health and safety factors as well as knowledge.

sorry don't believe the 1000 calories or even the 800 calories burnt especially when there is no lean muscle mass - as in over 15% body fat

For effective weight loss - don't skip meals. Your breakfast shake sounds great, but I would ease up on the carbs. Try to keep protein and carb ratio close - that way you will be able to eat lunch.

Totally agree with the start of walking. Not only will you get some exercise but your 4 month old will love being outdoors.
