  • When I go to the gym, I'm pretty much oblivious to most things except that it drives me nuts when people don't re-rack their weights. 1) How do I know if a squat rack is free if there are a bunch of plates loaded on it, and 2) should I really have to unload your 6 45# plates because you didn't do it? Oh, and the guy who…
  • I love San Antonio. Such a cool city. I'm going there tomorrow to spend the weekend!
  • Lol...I went to college in Lubbock. I grew up in a super small town north of Amarillo.
  • Also originally from the Panhandle and now living in Houston! Where in the Panhandle and what part of Houston are you in?
  • Big fan of the Rattlesnake Roundup? I grew up north of Amarillo, so I know that area well.
  • No doubt...pretty soon, Austin's traffic is going to rival ours in Houston. But I love Austin.
  • Just read an article breaking down which states the people moving to Texas come from. The overwhelming majority came from California.
  • This made me laugh. If you're not from here, you don't understand. Add me if you like.
  • Awesome story...congrats on your accomplishment!
  • I sometimes drink flavored La Croix in a wine glass to fool myself. It works!
  • Not sure how tall you are or how much you weigh, but it could be that it's overestimating your tdee. You might try just cutting back by 100 calories for a few days to see what happens. Of course if your baby seems fussy or you're hungry, Then definitely eat something. Nursing does funny things to our bodies, I think. I've…
  • I think it can be tough when you're nursing because different bodies react differently to cutting calories. Is your supply ok at 1900 - 2000 calories? How long have you been eating at that level without losing? You might just have to play around with your calories a little to see what allows you to lose without affecting…
  • I agree! It sounds like you and your kids are over tired. I would focus on getting your kids on a sleep schedule, including naps. You might check out Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. I read it when my son was a baby, and it has really good, practical advice that you can apply as your children reach different stages.
  • Paige jeans are probably my favorite. I have good luck with WHBM jeans in longs, as well. Anyone else get annoyed that not many brands make cropped or capri jeans in longs? I think they just assume that since they're short anyway, no one will care about the length. But they hit in the absolute wrong place on my calf and…
  • I also love this topic! I relate to so many of the stories. I can't tell you how many times I have had to stand back-to-back with a guy in a bar or at a party. Also, on the boob level guys, one of my friends taught me the term "THG". Stands for t**ty high guy, and always makes me think of Long Duck Dong from "Sixteen…
  • OP, people are taking issue with your word choice, but I knew what you meant! And I totally agree. I have finally decided to stop trying to out-train my diet.
  • This! I hope he had one heck of a good editor for that book he wrote.
  • No, I can promise you that, like most others here trying to lose weight, I weigh too much because I eat too much. I think most of us wish there was some magic pill (if not blue, maybe red?) that would mean we don't have to do the required work, but that just does not exist. I think you're correct in that there is someone…
  • OP, I relate a lot to your situation. I'm not a fitness professional, but I workout all the time and am in pretty damn good shape. And yet, I am still overweight because I eat too much. Welcome to MFP and best of luck on your journey!
  • You might have to tinker with it a little bit to see what works for you based on the effect it has on your supply. If you are cutting too many calories, your supply will suffer. But the good news is that it won't be permanent, so if you notice a decrease or if it seems like your baby is no longer satisfied, you know you…
  • So many factors play into this. I am 5'10", and the last time I weighed 150 pounds, I wore a US size 4 and my hipbones jutted out of my clothes to the point that people thought my shirt was bunched up in my pants. For me personally, 150 pounds looked too skinny for my height and build.
  • I also agree. I firmly believe that one thing worse than coming from a "broken home" is growing up in one.
  • I am so sorry to hear you are struggling. I think from reading your post that you want your marriage to work out, but I guess my question is why do you want it to work out? Is it for the kids? Because you just don't want to be divorced? Or is it because there is still something between you and your husband that is worth…
  • Very well said. OP, sorry you feel intimidated at the gym, but I can guarantee you that those fit people are so into their own workout that they aren't even noticing anyone else. Just keep going, and it will get easier!
  • I am in the same boat! Friend request sent. :)
  • I definitely know the difference between "too tired" and TOO TIRED. :) Hang in there and know it's a struggle a lot of us have. I have found as my son has gotten older, I feel less guilty about not spending all my free time with him, so it's easier to prioritize working out. Hopefully, you will find the same thing.
  • I wouldn't necessarily call it harsh. But it was dismissive, not helpful, and not what the OP was even asking for in her original post (tips and commiseration). I do appreciate that you modified your post, and I don't disagree with your overall message. I just think when someone seems to be struggling with juggling it all…
  • I don't understand why people post stuff like this on these boards when someone is looking for support. Big kudos to you for having it figured out, and I mean that honestly. Not all of us are there just yet.
