I work really hard trying to build my shoulders and I still am not bulking there very much. Just don't lift as heavy weights.

One of my pet peeves-glad hubby is with the program when he actually replaces the roll that is.

I agree that you have to lift weights and do multiple exercises to use those muscles from different angles. So, you also want to be doing exercises that work your back and chest because all those muscles connect. I lost 85 lbs and had little pockets of extra skin but now that I lift weights they are quite reduced. It does…

I've been questioning a few things and stumbled onto a MFP group that answered some of them. I recommend checking out the Eat More 2 Weigh Less group-there is also a website. Repairing a messed up metabolism takes time but it is possible (according to the testimonies). I always wondered why I just couldn't be "normal" so I…

Bump, need to check out some of these links.

I just joined the group today and reading the post here almost makes me want to cry. You mean there is hope for me to be normal????? Some of your words are the very words I spoke to my hubby earlier. I am still trying to wrap my mind around this whole concept and yet I want it with everything inside myself. I am very…

You can accomplish a lot in 5 months of weight lifting to reshape your body even if you don't lose a high amount of scale weight. I highly recommend lifting. I have a progress picture on my profile comparing after my first month, second month, and third month of weight lifting. I couldn't do everything perfectly but I kept…

I also have a basement room I use for my workout room. It is unfinished and also houses the washer/dryer/freezer, a file cabinet, a work bench and storage shelves, but the middle of the room is all mine. I have a stereo, resistance bands, free weights/bars/dumbbells, a bench, a stability ball, a Gold's gym cable system…

A few of my favorite ways to eat cottage cheese are: Sauté fresh spinach with garlic (sometimes I just use garlic powder), top with cottage cheese and toasted nuts. Oh My Gosh Yum! One cup of mixed berries, cottage cheese, and Walden Farms no calorie strawberry syrup. Chicken breast, cottage cheese, and fresh shredded…

I had great success loosing with WW, lost 85 lbs, but I never learned maintenance. My local meeting closed down before I got to that part. I regained 40 lbs and now I've been losing it with the help of MFP. When I tracked with WW there were many things that got swept under that 0 or 1 point category. Now that I am tracking…

I am 5'5", turning 40 in a few weeks, 163 lbs and eat in the 1600 calorie range. I started in January at 1200 and once I got enlightened I started slowly increasing my calories because I not only want to lose weight but want to increase my metabolism so I don't have to starve myself for my entire life to maintain weight.…

I am a recovering binger and just last week I fell off the wagon, but I'm back on it and didn't let it completely derail me. I realized that when I am tired I will munch to keep myself awake. I also know that baked goods are my trigger, especially sweet ones. I can't keep that stuff in the house and if I do have something…

Would love an invite, I am on my last push before my goal deadline.

There is a recipe builder on the site that is very useful for figuring out the calories of homemade dishes. It's a tab listed under the "food" tab. I build recipes all the time. Just remember to do your best and take care of your body and it will respond. Sometimes it just takes time but if you keep it up you will see…

bump-I love sweet potato fries, looking forward to trying this tip.

Bump-interested to try it.

You look great! Good job. I am curious to know what program you followed also. I've been looking for one but haven't settled on anything yet.

When you start exercising especially weight training your muscles store extra glycogen and water for repair. Don't worry, keep at it and you will see results. Regular rest days (full rest) are important for recovery.

Well, I know all of you have moved on, and now I am going on to something else cause I finished! Happy to be done but at the same time I kinda miss Jill. Crazy! It was such a good workout, really felt like I got alot accomplished in a short time. I don't have after pictures yet but I have had major improvements in my…

Hi All, I just wanted to encourage you all to keep up the good work. Just do the best you can do and keep at it. Today was my last day of 30 Day Shred and I feel like a proud peacock. I've never before stuck with anything. I did 10 days at each level with 2 rest days per week, usually split up. Due to knee issues I had to…

I love salads too. When ever I start getting bored of them I throw in a little fresh or dried fruit, toasted nuts, small amounts of cheese or meat. It shakes things up and I have wonderful new flavors to enjoy. For the last several years my kick has been grape tomatoes with a cheese stick for an afternoon snack. I have…

I am also 5'5" and while I am heavier right now and in the process of losing a few years ago I was at 145. I was happy with 145-153 lbs, but at 145 I always had people asking if I was going to stop losing weight because it looked like I was getting to thin and losing my curves. Not that I care what people think. I was a…

I've never had a gym membership but it is totally possible to accomplish your fitness goals at home. What you need depends on your goals. A few years ago I lost 85 lbs and all I did was walk and watch my diet. Now I want to build muscle so I invested in a pull up bar ($20) a cheap barball and weight plates at walmart, and…

It may sound weird but for a while when I did a really high protein stint I added plain flavored Bob's Red Mill Protein Powder to my eggs in the morning or to soups, casseroles, etc. It changes the texture a bit to add protein powder to eggs or pancakes, but it didn't bother me much, my goal was more important. You can mix…

I recently heard a pod cast by this very well known weight lifter nutrition guy (sorry I don't remember the name but it was posted here on MFP and everyone raved about him) and he said when you move it to maintenance you should jusst reverse the process and begin adding calories back slowly. His recommendation was to…

I did the first day of level 3 today. At first I was worried with all the jumping because my knees have been killing me the whole time even though I've done the modified moves. I liked level 3 more than I thought I would but instead of doing the rock star jumps I did skaters (from level 2) instead. I've enjoyed getting in…
