  • I never do... I figure that the 5 calories from a piece of gum (that gets chewed for at least an hour) are a lot better than the 280 calories from the Snickers bar I could have eaten instead. Unless I'm going to chew an entire pack, I really don't see the point. But hey, to each their own
  • I put on most of my weight thanks to the side effects of infertility meds. Should I not consider that cause a "right thing?"
  • Love -- *real* love -- doesn't give a damn what you look like. It cares about how you are as a person on the inside. Anyone who thinks that a relationship is based solely on looks is in for a really rude awakening when age and/or disability sets in. I've seen people on here talk about "my wife/husband/SO would leave me…
  • Three boxes of Thin Mints for me, and two boxes of Samoas for my husband. He'll practically inhale his, but mine will go right into the freezer after I bag them up into portions. I like to toss a couple of them into the blender with my Vanilla Bean protein powder, some unsweetened almond milk, and ice. Omnomnomnom!!!
  • OK, I am a born and bred New Englandah who also happens to be a Yankees and Jets fan... and an AVID fan of the Bruins. Just because I live here doesn't mean that I have to like the "home teams." That being said, I have never under ANY circumstances wished bodily harm on a player of the opposing team. Seriously? It's…
  • LOL... I remember that day well. Congratulations!!! :flowerforyou:
  • Ours was "You're the Inspriation" by Chicago. It was the first song we heard on the jukebox during our first date back when we were 14 years old. It will be 20 years for us in May
  • The Vanilla Bean Torte is also SOOOOO yummy!!!
  • MFP will reevaluate you after every 10 pounds lost, and ask you if you want to change your goals -- you'll get the message after you record your weigh-ins. Good luck!
  • No, we don't count. Come on -- you just *know* that we're going to go to bed tonight after having that pizza for dinner (or, in my case, that burger from Outback) and will wake up with all that weight back on us. /sarcasm But seriously...if someone has an issue with controlling how much food they're shoveling in at one…
  • Yeah... the last thing I'm going to do is tell a fully-grown, college-educated adult what he can and can't bring into the house. :indifferent: No one is holding a gun to my head and forcing me to have any of the so-bad-but-oh-so-tasty treats my husband loves to bring home. And you know what? If I *do* happen to want some,…
  • Yeppers... this is it!
  • Old school EQMac player here -- wouldn't touch WoW if you paid me to do it! As someone put it earlier, it's not the gaming that's to blame, but it's a convenient excuse. I still play -- in fact, I think I play more now than ever -- but it's now my reward. Work out, have a healthy dinner... then spend two hours happily…
  • It's the license plate on my car...
  • Eating and exercising are like a religion to some people -- everyone thinks that their way is the "one truth," and <insert deity/non-deity of your choice here> forbid that you deviate from what *they* think is right. And they will occasionally try to force it down your virtual throat. What works for some will not work for…
  • I've been told this a few times... and, quite honestly, it didn't bother me in the least. Why? Because I placed absolutely no value on the opinion of the people shallow enough to say it. Attractiveness is a helluva a lot more than how one looks; it's attitude as well. My husband (whose usually brutally honest opinion I…
  • ^This... totally and completely this. I have NO one to be "accountable to" except myself. I used to have my diary open to friends, but was getting awfully tired of the "I can't believe you ate THAT!" comments when I would have pizza or a burger and fries from Five Guys -- especially from people who considered a pint of Ben…
  • When I had lost about 35 pounds (and it was finally becoming noticeable), my husband mentioned in front of his mom that we would need to start shopping for new clothes. She commented that I shouldn't throw away all my old clothes -- I thought it was because she wanted me to donate them, but no. "You need to save them for…
  • I'm *pretty* sure this means that spending cash on Christmas gifts was pushed aside in favor of funding a family vacation. Some of us do that, after all... doesn't make us any less observant of the holiday. And yeah.. my MIL who loudly proclaims to anyone who will listen that I'm "too skinny" gave me TWO boxes of…
  • Nectar Sweets Chocolate Truffle -- i mix it with skim milk and water, and I've found it to be quite tasty. I've also mixed half a scoop in with a cup of nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt... yummy and packed full of TONS of protein!
  • When I started MFP over a year ago, my hubby put together an "exercise corner" for me in the room with my elliptical -- I have a wall-mounted TV that is hooked up to an Internet-enabled BluRay player (yay, Netflix!), and surround sound that will occasionally rattle the windows (and startle the dog  ). Makes the…
  • Depends on which one(s) you're drinking... some of them replace much-needed electrolytes after a hard workout, and others are just caffeine carriers. Water alone is great, but won't replace some of the things you lose after prolonged exercise. Have you tried looking into protein drinks instead?
  • I've been doing KettleWorX since August... love it!!!! I log it under "Circuit training," but I don't use the MFP defaults for calories burned. I use my HRM for each workout, because 25 minutes of Week 1 Cardio burns a lot more than, say, Week 1 Core. Since I don't want to over/underestimate, I rely on the HRM to tell me…
  • LOVE breakfast-type foods for dinner! Scrambled eggs (one whole/two whites) with a little low-fat grated Cheddar, a slice of honey wheat toast, and a strip of bacon... easy and oh-so-YUMMY!
  • Some of us *can't* run because of various knee/ankle/hip issues. Running puts a lot of stress on your body... thanks, but no thanks. I'll stick to my low-impact elliptical and long leisurely walks with the dog and hubby on the local paths. The roads are all yours :)
  • I dunno... I like it when my hubby calls me "cute." But maybe I'm just nostalgic about the fact that he used to call me that when were in fifth grade  I *did* feel complimented the other day when we stopped for dinner. We were at the local Hooters (hey - they make a great grilled cheese sandwich!) and I teased him…
  • Dream Whip, maybe? You can find it in the baking aisle at the grocery store.
  • The "point" of exercise isn't just to burn calories. It helps to build muscle (which in turn helps you burn fat more efficiently), has been shown to lower "bad" cholesterol/improve "good" cholestrol numbers, makes your heart work more efficiently... the benefits are mutliple. As far as whether or not you should eat them…
