  • Pure awesome -- this should be required reading before someone is allowed to post in the forums here.
  • If your music player is Bluetooth-enabled, check out the wireless earbuds by Jaybird. I have a set of Jaybird Freedom, and LOVE them -- a little on the spendy side, but at least you don't have to deal with the aggravation of a wire getting tangled up while running!
  • I've been married almost 22 years, and had been dating my husband for years before that... I have several male friends here on MFP, and even more in the real world. It's not disrespect. It's called *trust.* And yes, I occasionally post pics of myself with my husband, sometimes just me, and occasionally something totally…
  • THANK you!!! I'm pretty tired of people telling me that I'm not "acting my age" because I'm 45 and have long hair. Really? And no, I'm not "hanging on to my lost youth" -- quite frankly, I look HIDEOUS with short hair. I also like the versatility of ponytails/braids/updos/etc. and you just can't do that with hair that's…
  • Wow. Just... no. Oolong tea =/= ice cream. A smaller portion of ice cream, however, will satisfy a craving and allow someone to stay within their calorie goals. It's called self-control. Try it sometime -- you'll be amazed at the results. The only people making us overeat is ourselves, because there isn't anyone with a gun…
  • I used to wear those back in my pre-MFP days, and the closest I was able to find after losing all the weight are the all-cotton briefs from Victoria's Secret -- IMO, they're even more comfortable than the Cacique ones were. And they're on sale right now! :D
  • Thanks for the suggestion, but I already do... It's right on my public profile, which is "the topic at hand."
  • No, MFP isn't real... all the weight and inches I have lost are totally fictitious. ::eyeroll:: Some of us have personal issues that affect our health, and are a bit more selective about with whom we choose to share that information. The friend requests of random strangers who can't be bothered to do me the courtesy of…
  • It makes me feel "important" and/or "exclusive" when all I ask is a few words about *WHY* you want to be on my friends' list? Did you ever think that some people want to know why a total stranger would find them interesting enough to befriend? Aren't you selective with your friends IRL? Or do you become buddies with every…
  • I traded my "girls" for a healthier me and most likely extra years added to my life. And I'd do it again.
  • Sorry, but this lady of Irish/French Canadian descent has two skin tones -- pale or lobster. Don't like it? Plenty of fake tan Oompa Loompas out there to ogle. Besides, I happen to *like* being mistaken for ten years younger than I am, and that my face doesn't look like an old catchers' mitt. Also, melanoma.
  • Hard to make things like meringues and angle food cake with whole eggs....
  • Why go? Because as frustrating and boring as it is sometimes, it's still family -- a few hours out of my life won't kill me, and it's not like they're going to be around forever. You never know when it's the last time you'll all be together. But I won't lie -- it's going to be nice to have just *one* alone with my husband…
  • For the past twenty years, my husband and I have been subjected to Thanksgiving at his brother's house -- usually nontraditional food as the one year he attempted turkey it was FOUR HOURS late. His brother fancies himself a bit of a "gourmet," but I have yet to eat anything at his house that was even slightly appealing...…
  • Feel free to send the ice cream my way... I've had it just about every day for over three years, and managed to lose weight and get healthy. There's no such thing as "bad food" -- just too much of it. If you feel that pushing everything that you used to enjoy aside will work for you, then most of us here will wish you…
  • Not a big fan of them myself... but nothing looks tackier in a business suit than bare, pale legs (I don't tan either -- French-Canadian/Irish heritage). I'll only wear then for work and the occasional wedding/special event, and when I do I always buy them two sizes up to guarantee that they won't have a stranglehold on my…
  • I had a bit of trouble with mine last night, but I followed the reset instructions and everything synched just fine after that. Check the Fitbit site -- different models have different reset instructions. If you have the One like I do, plug the charging cable into your computer, attach the Fitbit, hold down the button for…
  • In all the time I've been here, it's never happened to me. Then again, I tend to stay faaaaaar away from all those ridiculous "Bang/Smash/Etc." and "Rate the Person Above You" threads. Take a look at some of the threads you've frequented -- this shouldn't surprise you in the least. I'm here to get into shape, not pretend…
  • I understand what she did... she gave herself a once-every-few-months treat. And I say good for her if she enjoyed it and it fit into her day!!!
  • I know, right? What's the purpose in wearing *anything* at that point?
  • And some people delight in spouting nonsense, misinformation, and conspiracy theories solely for the sake of being inflammatory...
  • There are no GIFs awesome enough to fully capture my appreciation of this thread....
  • Yes, please... and Scottish heritage isn't required as it isn't really a Scots invention. Irishmen (like my fine husband) can wear them as well, albeit in County colors rather than clan tartan.
  • Absolutely this... we had some leftovers from a party and I forced myself to toss out a perfectly good container of dip so that I wouldn't eat the entire thing for dinner. Crunchy Cheetos are another -- although now I'm finally able to buy the single-serving bags and limit myself. It also helps when you have someone much…
  • MFP tends to exaggerate calorie burns , which is why I rely on my HRM for a more accurate reading. These days, the readout on the machine is pretty close to what I'm getting from my Polar, but I"m still recording the HRM results.
  • I'm an *AWESOME* cook... when I have the time to do it. Working 60+ hours a week sort of puts a damper on that, so I rely a lot on Lean Cuisine/Smart Ones/Healthy Choice/Trader Joe's meals for quick lunches when I run home in the middle of the day. Breakfast and dinner are usually homemade, but I like the convenience when…
  • I am accountable to no one but myself -- and managed to meet (and exceed) my goals for weight and fitness without having people creeping through my food diary. I'm a pretty reasonable and well-educated adult who doesn't need the approval (or disapproval) of virtual strangers to keep me on track.
  • Yep, this. And I'm a straight, married woman... who very often ends up pointing out the more attractive waitstaff to my husband!
  • I can see this as a quick energy snack (like trail mix) -- but as *breakfast* with a serving size of only two tablespoons??? :frown:
