Not perfect pics, but.... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/IrishHarpy1/view/two-years-and-a-whole-lotta-pounds-later-437096 I was just under 220 in the first pic, and about 120 in the second. I'm 5'2", and dropped from a size 22 pants/2XL tops to size 2/4 pants/and XS/S tops; I've been on maintenance for over a year, and…

Love, love, LOVE my corsets for ren faire/steampunk/pirate events, but never got into the waist training aspect. While I love wearing them, there is also something very satisfying about that "bodicegasm" one gets at the end of a long day... ETA: A lot of good info on this thread as well --…

I'm getting all dressed up like a demon faerie and heading to a Ren faire tomorrow, so I'd say there's nothing wrong with a bit o'face paint. But even *I* would avoid the bouncy castle... weak ankles and all that. ;)

Forget about the notepad - make it a tape recorder. It sounds like this doctor is more concerned about making money off of an unnecessary surgery than your health. Time to shop for a new doc, I think. And a giant *FANTASTIC JOB* for the 45 pound loss!!! :flowerforyou:

Cigarette smoking for pregnant women was encouraged at one time as being "safe and legal," too. :ohwell: As so many have said before: THERE. ARE. NO. QUICK. FIXES. There is no such thing as a magic pill -- it's proper nutrition and exercise that will help you get healthier and lose weight while doing so. Seriously, try…

Sounds like somebody's hangry. Let's see.... I've lost over 100 pounds, lowered my blood pressure to perfection, my cholesterol levels are excellent, no sign of elevated blood sugar levels, AND I'm at 19% BF. All while having the occasional Five Guys burger and fries, pizza, ice cream, and a Smart Ones/Lean Cuisine every…

I'll be in my bunk.

Let me guess -- it's because your metabolism shuts down when you're sleeping, right? Wrong.

Regular meals are "outside food" as well -- does that mean the OP shouldn't eat *anything*??? Healthy snacks throughout the day can help keep you focused and prevent overeating at mealtimes. Snacks that are higher in protein can help fill you up -- try Greek yogurt, string cheese, almonds, etc. Also, what you may…

Wanna bet? I have friends who were running the marathon today that I only *just* found in the past hour were OK. I agree with whoever said the OP posted this just to prove some "point." It would have never been posted otherwise. Poor timing, poor taste...

One of these days I'll combine these into one pic, but for now: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/IrishHarpy1/view/two-years-and-a-whole-lotta-pounds-later-437096 My highest weight was 222, and I had lost 20 of that before the first pic was taken; in the second, I was down to 120. I now hover comfortably between 120-125 and…

I find this far more amusing than alarming... I'm married to a computer geek, so I'm used to getting nerdy giggles like this!

*Applause* from another (recently turned 44) who isn't ready to reach for her walker just yet. I've never judged my friends here based on their ages, because youth doesn't necessarily indicate a lack of struggling. However, once we hit 40 we don't need to retire gracefully to a rocking chair on the porch and reminisce…

Reading this thread just forced me to go get a serving (yes, a WHOLE 1/2 cup!) of Breyer's Vanilla Bean ice cream, you bunch of enabling bastages. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!

OK... I can do Kraken :) Ever tried Ten Cane? Sweet, smooth, and makes the best rum cake EVAR!

*Real* pirates wouldn't touch a bottle of Captain Morgan's unless it was the last one on the shelf. I'll take a bottle of Pyrat Cask 1623... sure it's about $290 a bottle, but pirates can afford it.

Hi! I am a LONG time Rennie living in southeastern New England, and while I have never worked in any "official" capacity for the several faires in our area (except for some random boothing for friends), I *am* a Licensed Wench, RenMerc and Privateer. I volunteer behind the scenes helping to run our local "traveler's…

*raises hand* I eat bologna sandwiches once in a while... as well as mac & cheese, Froot Loops, and the occasional Ring Pop if I happen to come across a watermelon one. And I'm 44 years old. Does this mean I need to turn in my college degree and go back to elementary school? Or just my proverbial "adult card?" That being…

I am great at being real all week, but *totally* fake it on the weekend. Well... I don't fake *everything*. Do I still qualify?

I've tried the refrigerator recipes... and as much as I love oatmeal, I just couldn't handle how they came out. If you're looking for easy and overnight, try one of the crockpot recipes that use steel cut oats -- dump all the ingredients into a lined crockpot, set it to low, go to bed, and seven hours later wake up to a…

And this makes a difference... why? Unless the OP is hypertensive, sodium isn't an issue. All it does for some people is make them retain a bit of water, which is easily counteracted by -- you guessed it -- drinking more water. Sodium is a vital nutrient, and is essential for proper brain and heart function, regulation of…

Yes, because the first 3,795,297,324 threads like this one haven't had any effect yet. Once more should do it, I think. There is nothing wrong with the spelling, just the usage. But yes, you can "loose" things -- like loosing The Grammar Nazis among those who are here to lose weight. Or those who are loosing their fat into…

The OP said "some", not that her ENTIRE diet consisted of those foods. I'm with ya, OP. Sure, I make healthier choices when I can, but my day is a mix of what can be considered "clean" and/or "nutrient dense" with a bit of processed stuff tossed in. For me it was all about the portion control, and once I learned that I…

This is pretty much how I've structured my eating for over two years. It helped me lose weight steadily, I never felt "deprived", and along the way I learned that I could make healthier choices and still enjoy foods I loved before. I'm still shocked to see myself grabbing a container of Greek yogurt in the afternoon…

Toss it out, and buy real PB.... but that's just my opinion. Tried it and hated it, but others here rave about it. I had to mix in peanut oil and a touch of salt to make it palatable, which sort of defeated the purpose. I even tried mixing it into recipes with very little tasty success. I wish you better luck!

Poor OP... I also agree with everything you said. As for your detractors: while yes, there are some indications that people can develop symptoms that mimic addiction, it's not as bad FOR MOST OF US (see what I did there?) as some would make it out to be. You feel like something "triggers" you? Avoid it. But they need to…

I have a Fitbit and a Polar F6, and use both of them -- the Fitbit is worn all day (even during workouts), but I use the HRM for the more accurate calorie burn during cardio workouts. The Polar results are entered here on MFP, and will overwrite whatever the Fitbit had estimated for that period of time. I've found the…

It doesn't matter when they use waist/leg measurements either sometimes. I have three pairs of Lucky Brand jeans -- all with a waist measurement of 25 -- that are sized 4, 2... and 0. Place them on top of each other, and they look *exactly* the same around the waist, but not the legs; one is "skinny", another is straight,…

I think I love you....

You can't argue with the law of thermodynamics: burn more calories than you consume, and you lose weight. It's entirely possible to gain weight on only 1100 (supposing that they were accurately tracked) calories a day if your BMR was ridiculously low due to lack of exercise. I eat at least 1-2 processed meals a day, and…
