  • I started 8 months ago at 272 now I am 225, I am pretty sure it will take me more than 2 months to get under 200,but I would love to get that much closer ! Count me in.
  • I have a bad knee, I swim. It never hurts in the water and I think it actually is helping it heal. If something hurts it,I don't do it. I had a doctor look at it to make sure it wasn't something that I was worsening by walking on it and such, mine is torn catilage. I can get surgery to fix it, but I am waiting for the right…
  • I am on time released 500 mg. I am down under 100 most of the day,but my fasting bg is always higher , like up to 140 or so.I was doing better with the regular metformin at 500 2 x a day, but was having stomach issues. I may need to increase mine or go back to the regular dose non time released. Good luck ,hope you doctor…
  • I don't like to cook, but love to eat out ! the hardest part is my husband and I have used food as our entertainment, and he is still pretty obscessed with food, so I feel like I am fighting this battle on my own. He is also over weight, but until he is ready to join me, I am exercising and eating healthy on my own. Every…

  • Did you try the time released metformin? The other type made me sick too,but I have had no problems with the time released one. I am not on insulin, but the Metformin has been a great help for my weight loss and my sugar control.
  • I lived in Mississippi for 8 years (Brandon ,outside of Jackson), I am from St. Louis. There is a lot of good about the state, weather for one is so nice. My kids had a very hard time adjusting to school down their, but they did adjust and made friends. The main issues is there is ingrained posverty, we just get use to the…
  • I am from St. louis Mo. but I am an older member who also has quite a bit to lose.I have lost 44 pounds I have another 60+ to go . Feel free to friend me. :) Best of luck.
  • I agree with the last post, try not to go under 1200 calories, especially if you are young. I am older (grandma older) and can eat less and be fine due to my metabolism. You don't want your body getting too use to low-low calorie days or it will refuse to let go of the weight for you, sounds silly , I know it to be true :)…
  • You are an inspiration ! So happy for you and all your success.
  • Hi Dave and welcome to the group. I am pretty new with the desease myself (Aug.2012). Wit the help of this site and the life changes I have made plus medformin medication,I have lost 44 pounds and have lowered all my numbers to a healthy level ! Initially it is very scarey, but it is a way of life and it gets easier.…
  • I am so sorry you feel so lost and stuck.I have fought my weight all my life, it is so hard and embarrassing . I started on MFP in August due to being diagnost with diebetis. I was so depressed and frightened. I am 56, I felt like I was 80 ! I started this diet and exercise program (I swim) and I feel younger now than I…
  • Congratulations on your decisions! I am a diabetic and have changed so many of my bad habits,it makes you feel great to take control of your life. I have los 44 pounds, but I still have 50 to go! I have found swimming a great exercise, it doesn't hurt anything and it is fun! Feel free to friend me and I will try to support…
  • Hi Tammy, Start by counting carbs and going to whole grain as much as possible. The numbers this site set for me are a little low in my doctors opinion, but it has been working for me. Cook low fat, lower carbs, low sugar. Just get use to reading labels and it isn't bad. I love this web site because so many people are in our…
  • Hi, I was diagnost in august. I have been very lucky with diet and exercise and metformin meds. I found out that exercise is the biggest piece to my puzzle. good luck, feel free to friend me, I am more than happy to share my experience with you :)
  • Great job, you look wonderful ! Enjoy your achievement :)
  • Days I don't exercise I stick to my goal of 1280, but when I do exercise I still try to keep my net calories around 1200. So I do eat my calories back with in reason.
  • This is the best tool I have ever used. You can watch everything you do and be objective about it. I started with almost 100 to lose and I am half way there.Feel free to friend me :) Best of luck.
  • Congratulations! great job :)

  • Hi me too, I was diagnost in Aug. I have done very well lowing my numbers (glucose ) I also have hypertention but I am doing well on medications. Sorry about your stroke ! Hopefully you will not ever have that happen again :) :flowerforyou:
  • My doctor told me to never eat less than 1200 calories a day, however,I do have the same issue with exercise and net calories. I average 1100 or so calories a day after workout (MFP has my calorie target at 1280). I have been losing pretty consitantly. I have been on the program for 6 months and have lost 44 pounds, grant…
  • You are welcome to look at my diary and also to friend me. I was diagnost in aug 2012 and have gotten my numbers pretty well under control :) Best of luck.:flowerforyou:
  • I o not usually eat back my calories.I do use them as needed for special meals and like you said, to keep from being hungry. Your diary is so healthy, I don,t know how much you have to lose, but just seeing what you are eating I think you are on the right track. I would lower my calories just a bit,and continue to…
  • I am diabetic, I love sugar free pudding,it really helps when I am craving sweets. Of course "splenda" is a great substitute for sugar in coffee and tea and some baking.
