I thought the only thing you and I disagreed on is your approach to someone here who was body shaming. I never said Miss USA wasn't beautiful. In fact, I think she is. She certainly has a lovely face and smile. She's not my "ideal body style," that's all. (For anyone actually interested in seeing a photo of what I,…

The OP, specifically regarding your comment "thinking people here were adult enough to handle it."
-
Must be new.

Some basics for you: 1) I have a much broader standard of beauty than either you or the Miss USA pageant. That doesn't mean I can't appreciate Miss USA. It just means I'm allowed to appreciate my own beauty as well. And I do. 2) I agree with you that there is no reason to body shame her. I just don't find any reason to…

You are missing the point entirely. It is the pageant that has a narrow standard. The criteria for entering is the opposite of broad which is narrow. I agree. She is all the things you say she is. I did not call her narrow.
-
So, you'd argue that the criteria for someone entering the Miss USA pageant is pretty broad, then? Again, the sarcasm wasn't lost on me. I just didn't find the comment funny. You thought it was okay to body shame someone because they body shamed someone else. I disagree with that approach. It's okay for us to disagree on…

I've already commented on the body shaming that has been going on throughout this thread. I commented on that specifically because it was the first time it was coming from someone on my friends list. For the record, I don't think it's right to body shame any shape or size. That being said, I don't like beauty pageants…

I am not condoning what she said at all, but what you said was just as bad. I like you, too. That sucks.
-
It's a figure of speech that means something is about to happen, not that something clearly already has.
-
Waiting? Basically anyone who utters anything other than "she's gorgeous" is being told they are fat and jealous. I'd say it's already in progress.

I'm saying it's not automatic. You don't automatically go on disability because you are diagnosed with a disease. I work with a woman who leaves X times a week to have treatments for her breast cancer. She's not disabled. She's still doing all the things she did before she was diagnosed. She's lucky she can, as disability…
-
The people who are already disabled for this reason might find themselves told that they now have a treatable disease. Go see your doctor, get treated, and welcome back to the working world!

Diseased =/= Disabled

My point still stands. The AMA decision is hardly the end of personal responsibility that some people are making it out to be. That ship has sailed.
-
Really? After people sued the cigarette manufacturers, and the drive thru where they got the coffee they dropped on themselves, and the mall they walked into when they slipped in a bit of rain someone tracked in two minutes before them, you think the AMA decision heralds the end of personal responsibility??
-
This is already a common practice. Doubtful that this will make it more common as you either are or are not given the necessary paperwork by your physician. They were able to give that before. This doesn't change that. Being obese is not automatically making people physically disabled... there are people out there with…

If you like to be watched, it doesn't get much more public than that.

Instead of pancakes, can we have waffles?

I followed you in here. Ripped. Off.

THIS. it is probably true that the majority of people who are obese are obese due to lifestyle choices... likewise, the majority of people who have many other diseases are sick for that exact same reason. Lifestyle choices. So really, this isn't new at all, is it? But yet everyone is up in arms over it, and their biggest…

Doctors want to be able to bill insurance companies for drugs and surgeries related to obesity. That's what this is all about. It's a money game. It's about making sure that people can get WLS for vanity's sake when there are no other indications. It's just about billing. It's not a statement about the nature of obesity…

Again, this thread is full of people who have never done CrossFit bashing CrossFit. They can read the hell out of an article, though. I gotta give 'em that.
