Great story, and always love your resiliency. You can do this. For sure. :flowerforyou:

I focus on a healthy lifestyle and the weight follows. Even if it's slow sometimes, at least I know that every day I'm getting healthier and headed in the right direction. Exercise too... it's not my favorite thing to do, but I started off just walking and it helped a lot not just with the weight, but also how I felt about…

Whatta day! I took a long walk in the morning, then went to gym, then impromptu trip to a marina with some puppies and moms from puppy playtime. Jackson had his first swim ever, he looked like a 15 pound seal. Each puppy pooped and I would volunteer to run the baggie to the trash bin cause I get credit for steps on my…

Hello Ladies! I am so psyched! I feel like a fat burning machine! Friday is my official record keeping weigh in day and I am down 3 pounds. Booyah! Total loss now 122 pounds. Tomorrow morning I will go to the gym. Pat: I agree, I’d rather eat something and get that satisfaction than whirl it up and drink it. \ Michelle:…

It's a very interesting topic, for sure. I got a lot out of the book: "Fat Chance" by Robert Lustig. I think he shares very compelling information on why not all calories are equal and impact us in different ways. Keeping processed sugar out of my diet as much as possible has really helped me in a lot of ways, including…

Wow! Well done! Super story and lovely family, thanks for sharing. You've really turned your life around, continued success!

Hi there from scorching humid buggy Maryland! Joyce: you will be in onederland permanently in no time! Suzy: I am in Elkton, it’s near the border of Delaware east of Baltimore. Thanks for the Skin So Soft tip. I found some on Amazon and ordered it. It has great reviews and also has sunscreen in it, so yay! Have a great…

I've been having a protein shake for breakfast every day for months and it's working great for me. I like getting the big boost of protein in the morning after a walk and I'm not much of a breakfast food person. I use EAS protein and mix with water and a tablespoon of chia seeds.

When I first started out, in August, I could barely walk for 5 minutes. Keep adding little by little as you're comfortable with it. Pretty soon, you'll be surprising yourself!

I don't even watch the sugar number, I turned it off in favor of showing other nutrients. I eat a lot of fruit and vegetables, no doubt going over the sugar allotment from MFP. I did my own research and have set the nutrients I want to track at a level that works well for me. Example, I set my protein higher than the…

I haven't run single step and I'm losing plenty of weight. I do walk though. When I first started, I could only walk for about 5 minutes. Now I have a lot more energy and my fitness is much better, but I will not be running due to a bad knee.

I am done with fat clothes, no need to keep them. I donate regularly to Goodwill as my weight goes down. I still have some old smaller clothes and I supplement those as needed. Even my shoe size got smaller!

I'm 55 and on the Vivelle patch and it has relieved the hot flashes, sweats and insomnia for me. I had a partial hysterectomy a few years ago. I have been losing weight fairly steadily, but it's definitely more challenging than when i was younger. Lack of sleep is what tends to derail me.

Barbie: gorgeous lavender! Marcie: I use steel cut oats all the time. They have a nice nutty texture. I add some (uncooked) to my bread when I bake it, adds a nice touch. Also, they are not bad raw if you want something a little crunchy. Cooked up they are well worth the extra time. Tere: WB, I am new. Jamaica is fabulous,…

Thanks Suzy, I sent you a fitbit invite. Looking forward to egging each other on! Anyone else want to be fitbit buddies? I have been getting to the gym more, which was one of my goals for this month. I hope my knee holds out and I can continue. I've tried to simmer down a bit, just doing 1/2 hour on the Arc Trainer. I did…

*raising hand*. 55 here, feel free to add me. Eating healthy foods is a priority for me. Walking with my dog is my primary exercise. :flowerforyou:

I am 5'1" and older (55). Been losing steadily since August, recently slowed down a bit. My main exercise is walking. I focus on healthy eating and have lost most of my weight through that method. I don't tend to eat back exercise calories unless I'm really hungry.

Agree, it's never too late to adopt a healthier lifestyle!

Congrats! Wonderful to see consistency and hard work pay off, keep it up! :flowerforyou:

Thanks for sharing this link, very interesting article! :flowerforyou:

It sure is hot here today, whew. Cut down on the outdoor walking a bit, but did a good job at Planet Fitness today. I tend to be a bit competitive and I love outlasting the younger folks on the Arc Trainer. Heh, some of them jump on and hop right back off after 5-10 minutes. It makes me feel smug and superior, even though…

OMG Ladies, I cannot keep up with you all! I love reading this board... how do you guys do it? Do you keep 2 windows open and read in one and comment in the other? Help! Thanks to everyone who welcomed me, I appreciate it. I had a large fitness achievement yesterday. I was challenged to a virtual 5K for the 4th of July.…

Wow, well done! Very inspiring, I'm working on losing a similar amount. Keep it going! :flowerforyou:

Hello Ladies, This is my first post here, but I've been on MFP since August. I'd like to apologize in advance that I may not be able to keep up with all the posts here, that's what's stopped me from joining in in the past, but I'm giving it a go! I love the way this group is so supportive and I really appreciate the…

Hi there, I started off not exercising much at all. I just started walking, and I could only do about 5 minutes initially. I have had some issues with my hip and knee, so sometimes I am not as active as I would hope to be. It's really been mostly about what I do and do not eat, so I know that anyone can be successful! At…

I can be all or nothing too, and very goal oriented. I find that it's lessened as I've gotten older, but still rears its head and it's the pattern I'm comfortable with. Some things that have worked for me: I forgive myself right away and get right back on track, I don't wait for Monday, or tomorrow, or even the next meal.…

I just baked some and it came out really nicely. I put the fillet skin side down in a pyrex baking dish and spread Gray Poupon coarse ground mustard on top and then put thin slices of lemon on top of that. I baked uncovered for about 15-20 mins at 400f. It was yum and totally easy! Sometimes I marinate for a while in soy…

I'm 55 and joined in August 2012. I am concentrating on having a healthy lifestyle overall and taking good care of myself. The weight is coming off steadily and I feel better than I have in years. We can do this! :flowerforyou:

Great read as always! I've screwed up too (many times), and no doubt, I will screw up again... but long term we are going to WIN! :drinker: I am confident in your continued success and I'll be right there with you continuing on this journey. *pat on the back* Love the quote: "Nothing you did in your last at-bat can…

There are two great compliments that come to mind... First, when I went to have a big check up with my doctor. He had sent me for a barrage of tests, because it had been awhile since I last visited. I was in to get the results. He sat there looking back and forth between me and the test results, shaking his head, an…
