  • I am in physical therapy now so hopefully soon I'll be cleared for more intense exercise. Fingers crossed! :)
  • Thanks for the reply. I'm not used to having to baby an injury, hope I can find something that I like. Maybe biking.
  • Thank you for this! I work 12 hour night shifts and do something very similar. I eat from about 2 pm to 10-11pm. I eat my first meal when I get up in the afternoon, eat dinner with my family, and then eat again at work. I work out at 7:30 am before I go to bed. I've tried the whole 6 small meals thing and it's just not for…
  • I am so sorry that this has happened to you and it makes my heart hurt just thinking about how vicious people can be.. I myself have been subject to alot of harsh criticism and comments, not because of my weight but because I am kinda freaky tall. BUT, now you need to use that as fuel. You have done an amazing job so far…
  • I've never done Zumba, mostly because I have no rythm, but I think it draws people in because it's fun. Not everyone enjoys running, lifting or whatever. If it's enjoyable then people are more likely to stick with it. And for a lot of people, dancing is enjoyble. If it burns calories and you like it, then why not?
  • Awesome job! And your hairstyle is so cute...you rock it!
  • Bumping so I can find it later :)
  • Just an update....The test ended up being postponed until this past Saturday. I got in a good bit of practice beforehand and was able to run the 1.5 miles in 13:15, a minute under the required time!!!! Yay! Thank y'all for the suggestions and encouragement! :flowerforyou:
  • It's your body and 100% your decision but I wouldn't surprise him with it. I have a couple of tattoos that I had before I was married. My husband doesn't dislike tattoos...he says it's a matter of placement. However, he doesn't want any and I'm cool with that... I want more and he's cool with that too. He should definitely…
  • Do not...I repeat...DO NOT worry about BMI charts. They are ridiculous! I am 6'4" and my height usually isn't even on the dang female chart! BMI charts are just waaaay too generic. They don't take your body composition into account. I am 6'4", 190 lbs, athletically built with just a little bit of fat to lose. Take a look…
  • I like to peel my eggplant, cut it into cubes and put in a baking dish with some chopped onions, drizzle a little olive oil over the top, sprinkle with a little salt, pepper, garlic powder and rosemary, and bake in the oven. When it's done, sprinkle a little parmesean over the top. DELISH!
  • Thank you everyone for the ideas and motivational support! I have been running for several months now and just gradually getting to where I thought I needed to be with my runs and had plans to continue running and getting better. Looking back I wish I would have trained harder...I really thought I was prepared. Very…
  • Thank you, I will definitely bump the cals up but I haven't been super strict lately because I've been trying to build muscle. I wm definitly going to cut myself some slack in that department while still trying to eat foods that don't make me feel like crap lol
  • All kinds of things can impact your running....food intake, sleep/fatiigue, boredom, ect. I am still figuring out my running, working on time, distance and all that fun stuff. A few things I've noticed about my own patterns of improvement....My runs are always better in the mornings (I found this out because it was getting…
  • This made me cry....tears of joy. So happy for you! Thank you for this, very inspirational.
  • Fantastic post! I love food waaaaaaaay too much to deprive myself all the time. I just got over having strep throat AND tonsilitis...I was sick for a solid week and the whole time I was worrying about my calories being TOO LOW because I just couldn't eat. Yep, you read right....I DO NOT WANT MY CALORIES TO BE LOW!!!! I…
  • Excellent work so far....keep at it and you'll be there in no time!
  • Ok, so I've been doing a WHOLE LOT of reading the last few days on all kinds of stuff related to weight training. optimal diet, etc. There is just soooo much information and so many options....I'm so excited to get started! So, after all of that reading...the plan it still to begin with the 5x5 program (however I am going…
  • Alright, now we're talkin'! This is the kind of stuff I need to know about, nutrition and muscle gaining/fat loss. This is the stuff I didn't do in highschool and college, just because my physique wasn't the focus of my workouts. I don't know this stuff. So, in order to build muscle, I at least need to eat maintenance, if…
  • Hahaha! That is too funny! And you're right, I am pretty proportionate....tall everywhere lol! I don't remember having any particular trouble in the past with my lifts, but it was years ago so we shall see
  • Y'all are awesome! My plan right now is to use the basics to build strength, build muscle, and drop the body fat % a little more (it's already within healthy range). Once I've done that for a while, I'd like to think about changing things up and adding accessory lifts. I'm going to buy Starting Strength and read it....I…
  • Wow, lots of great advice. Thanks y'all. I think I've decided to go with stronglifts 5x5. So, can anyone tell me if they do cardio while doing stronglifts? If so, how often? And right now I'm eating 1500-1700 calories. More? Less? Thanks!
  • Thanks y'all! It really made my day....soooo pumped!
  • 6'4" with a goal weight of 175-185. Nothing set in stone but I'm already fairly thin at my current weight of 190 and I'm pretty muscular and large framed, so yeah. Everyone's body type is different, I am not willowy looking, and doubt I ever will be. I'm cool with that...I want to be a rock solid mama, screw the scale. You…
  • Okay, so I have two kids. A 3 year old boy and a 6 month old girl. I breastfed my boy for about 6 weeks. Breastfeeding was difficult the whole time....whe wasn't a good latcher, my production was low and I couldn't seem to boost it no matter how hard I tried. I wasn't worried about the weightloss right away, but what I can…
  • I always crave chocolate so I agree with the dark chocolate thing and also maybe try some chocolate protein bars/shakes. They're not quite as yummy, but it works for me. They have come out with some pretty good ones....I LOVE the Pure Protein brand in the Chocolate Deluxe and Peanut Butter Chocolate flavors. and they have…
  • Sooooooo very inspirational! Your physical change is fantastic, but what really impresses me is mental and emotional success. You deserve to feel great about yourself, you've worked very hard for it! Great work!
  • Although using medication for "off label" purposes is common, you definitely have to watch it. I had a ear, nose and throat specialist put my 1 year old son on children's Claritin to help with ear infections. I questioned this and he explained to me that sinus congestion (which my son often gets) directly affects the…
