Immediately after surgery your stomach is swollen and so you have the least capacity. Over 6-8 weeks that swelling goes down and your capacity goes to about 4 ounces. Your surgeon sounds a bit extreme! 5-7 a week???? that in a month is what my surgeon expects. Even 4-5 a month now that I am over 6 months out. first 3 months was 10 a month or 2.5 a week.
