Various brands and models work for me. Best thing I've figured out though is they don't have to be tight to work correctly. All you need is to ensure you get the slight suction effect around your eyes. Basically, you gently press the goggles to your face and they stick a moment before falling off. The band that goes around…

Hi! I'm Marva, and I live in Atlanta, GA. I'm no southerner, however. I was born in NYC, and partially raised in the "NYC annex" of Daytona Beach, FL. I'm 43 years old, and happily three years into my second marriage with a cool 9-year-old stepkid. I am a musician. I majored in opera in college, and I've been singing lead…

I tell everyone I'm losing, if they haven't already seen it themselves. However, I keep my diary closed. I found that when it is open, I feel the need to explain everything I eat, or even fudge some of the portion sizes. Closed, I'm completely honest with myself. This way the only person I hurt if I eat too much is ME, and…

I log in every day and log everything. I keep my diary closed, however. I find I'm more honest with myself that way. If that's okay with you, please feel free to add me. And welcome! :)

You can change the sensitivity of the touchpad in the mouse properties under Control Panel. This may help you.

The clothing thing is the worst for me. I have clothes that fit me over a 20-30 lb range, but now they are getting too big, and the stretchy, comfy, Travelers pants from Chicos are all too long! Fortunately, I can shop in my mom's closet for the next size down, but I don't even like shopping like that. *sigh*

Well, I'm swimming almost a mile four days a week, which I love. But for me the real accomplishment since I started all this in August is that I can walk around places without my lower back screaming in pain. I still have some pain, but it is manageable. The pain was the whole motivator for starting this process in the…

Thank you so much, everyone. As one person here put it, yeah, I'm likely overthinking. I will set my level to 1600 today and leave it there until February 24th. Then I'll re-evaluate. I really appreciate everyone's input. Thank you again!

Hi...thank you for all the feedback. I'm 5'4" and I've weighed between 230 and 231, depending on the day, for the last 2.5 weeks. I used an online calculator to figure out my BMR. I have also figured TDEE before using an online calculator. Today this online calculator at http://www.iifym.com/tdee-calculator told me my TDEE…

I have not had one, but my mom recently did. She is a very young looking 67. Her recovery was very, very difficult. 6 months later she's just getting to the point where her now "good" knee hurts less than the "bad" one. While she did regret the surgery at the time, and for a few months after due to the pain and…

This starvation mode thingie seems true. I had to up my calories to start losing again. I'm trying 1500, which I am finding out might not even be enough. VERY confusing...

I enjoyed the post, and I learned. Thank you. I wish you were local so I could meet with you myself.

That is wonderful. I've been able to shop in my own closet as well. Your post is an excellent reminder that it is not just about the scale. "*slap* Thanks, I needed that!" :)

Interesting...you look much younger now than you did 50 pounds ago. I hope it works that way for me! :) Awesome job!

Generally I do not log cleaning. However, when I spent 90 minutes scrubbing the tile floor in the den, I absolutely logged it, since I was sweating like I'd just come off the treadmill. I was even sore the next day. I also tend to log rehearsal with my 80s rock and new wave band; however, I'll call it 90 minutes of slow…

I think whether to have a diary open or not is simply personal choice. Mine was closed initially by default, and then I opened it. While it was closed, I had no issues being honest and accountable in my diary. However, once it was open, I found I dreaded entering information, or I felt I had to justify my choices...it made…

Also, take it one day at a time. If you mess up one day, vow to do better the next and move on. If you beat yourself up over mistakes, you can fall into the trap of saying "well, I screwed up yesterday, so the whole week (month, etc...) is ruined. This is completely not true. You have a choice...you can get to the end of…

I don't know if there are multiple meanings for this, but I can tell you what it meant for me. It was determined by means of the following symptoms: PCOS diagnosis, Insulin resistance diagnosis, elevated blood sugar and triglycerides, and my elevated weight that I was "pre-diabetic". What this meant was if I did not make…

I think everyone is saying the same thing because it really is true. :) You're building new habits overall, right? So the occasional exception, like this weekend, won't ruin your new habits as long as you get back to them. I'm having to keep in mind that I should just keep on with the exercise and documenting everything no…

Cheating happens, but it's a choice. As someone who used to cheat, I can tell you that that it is a choice a person makes, and that person is responsible for his or her actions. This is easy for me to say at this point, as I finally got into the "right" relationship, and cheating isn't even in my behavioural vocabulary. I…

I love this, and it's awesome of you to facilitate it. Unfortunately, as of yesterday I lost only .6 lbs, and today I'm back to where I started, but that isn't going to stop me. Just going to try and do better this week. :) Thanks again!

FYI, the big trigger for me is barometric pressure changes. My migraines started after flying back and forth to/from Atlanta/San Francisco several times a month. My head is an awesome predictor that the weather is about to change. :) Of course you can't avoid weather changes, but if you can figure out some preventative…

When I was diagnosed with migraines in 2000, the doctor at the ER had given me Tylenol 3. It did absolutely nothing. I called the doctor and he told me to take a large dose of ibuprofen...THAT worked really well! Apparently, Ibuprofen is very good at treating migraine symptoms, whereas tylenol doesn't really do anything…

These are from today, which is .2 lbs down from where I started yesterday, so I didn't think it would be too off. I'm 231 lbs now (down from 267.6 in August of last year). ] ] Hope this works! Never posted pics before. My goal for this challenge is to get to 220. :)

Thank you...was really nice of you to do this!

To put what DavPul said in a pleasant way... many medical professionals will not give out advice, even seemingly innocuous advice, without an examination or consult. I kind of understand that, as it can be a liability issue. Also, the professional would have to ask you a whole bunch of questions to tailor advice to you.…

Okay...I changed my goal to 1 lb per week and I'll be netting 1650 instead of 1200. I hope you are all right. I'm not crazy about only 1 lb per week, but it will be far better than losing none, which is what I've been doing for the last month. Thanks again, everyone!

Thank you all so much! I really appreciate the feedback and information, and I think I'll give it a try. At this point, I have nothing to lose by doing so. (Pun not entirely intended.) Y'know I've seen people attacking people on this board before when someone asks a question that others perceive as dumb or silly. I truly…

Okay...to answer questions... I started at 267.6. I am currently 236.6. A couple of days ago I was 234.4. My current goal is set to 225. I have no clue what my ultimate goal should be. I'm 5'4" and "big-boned" with large, um...breasticles. 150 would probably be good, but no matter what I set my goal to MFP recommends 1200…
