I don't think there is a yes or no answer, it's more like an "it depends" ... It depends, for example, on whether you factor in daily exercise in your category of "active", "sedentary", etc. If you do, the exercise cals should be considered there, so your goal would be set higher to account for the exercise. For example, I…

So ... should I eat eggs or are they gonna kill me?

If I have the calories, beer or cider. If I have some calories, wine. If I have a few calories, whisky.

Absolutely this, couldn't have put it any better way!

Admittedly, I don't know this Dr. guy, but could the clue be in the name? I mean, am I the only one seeing the red sparkly shoes???

It is good to know that from hereon in I have a safe place to go to if the world is cruel to me again. Thank you all.

I can solve your problem, I am happy to go on the cruise for you so you can continue with your diet and healthy lifestyle!! I am willing to sacrifice my own weight loss plan and schedule for those 15 days so you don't have to suffer!!! Just send me your ticket, or preferably two, so my OH can come as well!

That's a scene from one of my most frequent dreams.

I have been avoiding one of my favourite clothes stores for years, since even their 20 was too small for me and they don't do anything bigger :-(. As I reached the weight I used to be when I was shopping there, I went to the shop to see if I could fit into my usual 16/18. They were too big! So, holding my breath, I bravely…

Why does it seem that you care what everyone craves? Nothing wrong with looking through people's diaries for inspiration but no need to get on a high horse about their choices ... Lite or low cal desserts fit into a diary when the real thing might not, yet it helps to stick within the daily allowance and if that means…

I am a big fan of slang and its globalization. I do my bit by introducing new terms and sayings every day. Being a professional linguist, I love what language can do and how it evolves, how terms change meaning (favourite example is "gay") and how people make expressions their own. Some people would like to be able to time…

Add a dash of colour with a light summery scarf and a hat and it would be absolutely fine! It's a gorgeous dress, and I bet you'd looking stunning in it!

Goulash!!! Is a spicy beef stew with loads of peppers, traditionally served with homemade pasta but you can just chuck a couple of potatoes in for the starch element and you have a one pot lovely dinner! I normally use (for two people) 250 g diced beef 1 onion, chopped 2 peppers (pick your favourite colour), chopped veg…

Border Collie all the way!

Thanks! Apparently I am an hourglass too! Although I feel more like an alarm clock, you know one of those square old fashioned ones that you hit on the head to shut them up!

I have the same issue, I figured I have been conditioned by my mum, as we always used to have dessert after dinner in my family. I am now trying to just have a square of dark chocolate instead of a full blown pud to still get the sweet end of the meal without all the cals. Working ok so far! :-)

Nice one! That got me curious, so I tried one of those website thingies, my result: Sorry your body is not in the 4 shapes we calculate. :explode:

Oh yum!

If the diet is that strict, what IS she allowed to eat? Maybe start there to figure out a fun alternative? For example, if it needs to be fat free you could make a big birthday shape jelly mold with candles on it and maybe a few pieces of fruit through it?

Oh, so bump!

Oh, so bump.

Hell, girl, you are doing a hell of a lot better than me, I haven't even convinced myself yet to start C25K! So hats off to you for battling through it and don't worry about what everyone else does - this particular "everyone" here hasn't even gotten off the couch yet!

Absolutely agree!! It is plain evil!!!

I hear ya, sister, I am exactly the same. Once that lovely number of "Calories remaining" has turned red, and be it by only 5, there is no going back. And once the bottle is open, you might as well finish it, right? Damage's done and it'll just go off otherwise or tempt you to go over again tomorrow. What seems to work for…

That makes a lot of sense to me ... so I should spend the money on food rather than oil for the heating? ;-)
-
Hope so for you, lol! Unfortunately, it's the opposite for me, oil fired heating means expensive to start with ... Having the heating on 24/7 is definitely going to cost me my holiday this year! :-(

Thanks guys, some great tips there! Does anyone know of any foods that are particularly warming? I know ginger and chilli are the usual suspects, but would be glad to hear of more!

Ha ha, that is so me, I always hunch over my desk, especially when things are a bit stressful (which they have been the last few weeks), so I will give this one a go, for sure! Thanks for the tip!
