I get up early to savour some alone time and to mindfully eat my veggies about 5 mornings a week (saute a clove of garlic, a whole onion, bell peppers, a tomato, mushrooms, with one or two eggs, feta cheese and fresh basil or dill)...other days, a couple slices of pumpernickel toasted with peanut butter. Today, I ate an…

The way I've handled this is to pick one of the guests to 'mirror'--I try to pick the healthiest, fittest looking one--and eat exactly the same thing he/she does on a five minute time delay so no one notices.

So inspiring! Thank you, congratulations, and best wishes as you maintain!

Just carved some time out of my day to catch up...I've been logging daily, but haven't had an opportunity to sit down and enjoy this thread for over a week. Now I'm a little teary-eyed and have been reminded yet again of how important a supportive social network is. This thread is such a rich tapestry of the real lives of…

Thanks for the inspiration! AND congratulations!

A Gr 10 and a Gr 12--it probably averages out to a couple of hours a week. But we're semestered (four courses per semester, 75 minutes per day) and neither is doing math or a skill-based subject that would involve being assigned practice work. I am a high school teacher and I almost never assign homework--practice makes…

My goodness--a couple of days of extra-busy-ness kept me from this thread--so much to catch up on! I can't remember who said it, but the phrase "compassion fatigue" jumped out at me. It's been a trying time at work, my DH has been away more than usual, and I feel a little emotionally volatile. I am looking forward to this…

Hiking! But wear long pants for climbing deadfall and take a little first aid kit with you... :) It's fantastic exercise getting all the muscles that you don't use walking a sidewalk.....

Just curious, and no flippancy intended at, because I know I am greatly affected by hours of sunlight and I think my fall/winter appetite differs from my summer...what line of latitude are you?

@Linda--keeping you and Kathy's family in my prayers...) In a real hurry this a.m., but excited to be down 1.1 pound (total of 11.6 since I joined) and very happy that my DH has seen the benefits of MFP and when he got home from Presbytery yesterday was proudly showing me how he had been using his phone to log his eating…

If you are shopping at a mall, consider sitting down and doing some people watching--who is wearing what and how does it look on them...who seems to be a similar size to you and what looks flattering...

Glorious sunshiny day today and I'm looking forward to a longish drive down the highway to take my 15 year old daughter to buy the mukluks she wants. I haven't bought any clothes or shoes for myself since last spring, and I'm glad--because I'm not packing away my summer stuff, I'm giving it to the Salvation Army. To treat…

Not knowing what your expectations were....all I can say is that you're definitely doing three things right: biking, weight lifting and joining MFP... The best advice I got when I joined here was to buy a digital scale--for my food, not me lol--I got a cheap one at Walmart and have been keeping myself strictly…

Perhaps that's the total of loss/gain/stay the same since you joined?

I lost 7 in my first three weeks, then one week the scale stayed exactly the same, then the next week I dropped 3.5. Stay accountable and keep going...
