Boy you must have been one very busy mama when they were all little! Were you glad to see them start heading off to school?

 That is so sad but don't lose hope. As a teen I worked for a woman who had married at 23 and tried immediately to have a family. By the time she was 30 she had had 6 miscarriages. Finally she carried a baby to term. A year or so later she had her 7th miscarriage. When I worked for her as a mother's helper she was 37…

Not at all. Back in the 50's and 60's well payed jobs in forestry or fishing were readily available in British Columbia. Many boys left school to go to work when they were 15 or 16. Several of the larger employers of office workers would take girls who had completed grade ten on a business program. It was almost unheard of…

Wow that's a lot of children for a 25 year old. Wondering how old the three that you acquired through marriage are.

Phenominal! .

Your age range makes me think of friends we had many years ago. They had the perfect bookend children: a girl and then a boy. The only thing that was unusual about it was that there was 21 years between them.

I agree that a doctor's visit is in order. I have osteoarthritis in my knee joints and since I have always done a lot of walking I was really suffering with it this past summer. I had an x-ray to confirm the diagnosis and then had a physiotherapist design an exercise program for me. I have had to replace some of my walking…

I was 23 when I had my first. I was in a four bed ward with a 19 year old having her first, a 21 year old having her 2nd and a 25 year old having her fifth. Like you, I was a slow starter. ...(And yes they kept you in the hospital for 5-7 days back then.)

My big dining out experience tends to be when entertaing my grandsons (10 and 6). I actually prefer some of the fast food places because they post nutritional information on line.

   Very determined children. Did they continue that way?

That's one of the reasons a lot of women give for waiting to start a family. More of them are getting university degrees and contending with student loans :grumble: after they graduate. Also in an expensive city like Vancouver it usually takes two incomes to support a family so they want to get established in their jobs.

WOW! Nice that you were able to have your family even though you got off to that late start. I know that we are reading more and more about the fertility problems related to delaying pregnancies. I wonder if we should recommend your unique solution.

Found a Stats Canada page that says in 2008 the average age of first time moms was 28.1. In the mid sixties it was 23.5.

I am taken aback by comments like this. The kids that came to my door tonight were pleasant and appreciative. I didn't notice what percentage said, "Trick of treat," but it was most of them. And as they left there was always a chorus of thank yous.

Ooo...wish we had pictures!

In one word...company. When I was young and had small children, a friend and I used to meet each morning and go for a run. Because we both had little kids we could not phone to cancel without waking up the whole household on the other end. (worth more than your life.) It also helped that our meeting spot was a lamp post…

Nature adhores a vacuum. If all I am doing is thinking, "I must not have, I must not have..." I will almost always succumb to temptation. What makes a difference to me is preplanning my meals and perhaps having some of the prep done. That way as I drive by the fast food outlets, I can picture the nice meal that will be…

How many calories burned for picking them all up?
-
Too low a calorie intake might slow your metabolism and result in reduced weight loss but I don't think it would make you gain weight. I couldn't tell from your entry...are you eating back the calories you burn in your work out? If you are, the problem may be the calculation of the calories you are using in your exercise.…

But yours isn't open. To friends only, perhaps?

I don't understand my Fitbit. On MFP I have my activity level set at sedentary. I am 5'4" 137 lbs. 68 years old so slower metabolism but still...I have logged 7.47 miles today. One walk was 90 minutes and I covered 4.5 miles. I am showing a Fitbit adjustment of 250 calories.

I go with the figure that is lowest....usually the machine's or my Fitbit's since they are always lower than MFPs. This moring I was walking with a friend who has a Garmin. We weigh almost exactly the same amount and her Garmin gave her double the calorie burn that my Fitbit registered. So I am hoping that it is the Fitbit…

I live in a seniors complex and I swear I am the only one who ever stays home. I just don't like travelling that muich. That being said I love it when my friends post blogs while they are on vacation. This past month I followed one pair as they toured the Midi in France and another group who were visiting mainland China…

See if they have a war wonton. This is my favourite. You get a generous sized bowl of broth with usually about 8 wontons, a pile of veggies and a couple of prawns and maybe a few slivers of barbecued pork. I find they will often accommodate a request for more veggies and fewer wontons. This fits in easily with my 1200…
