  • Since your snack attacks seem to strike at the same time each day it may be that your blood sugar is low and you really need a snack then. I have found that prelogging my food helps a lot. Why don't you plan in the morning a reasonable snack for your afternoon doldrums? If you can take the guilt out of it you may well find…
  • I use a Fitbit and try to get in my steps each day. Without those exercise calories MFP says I would lose one pound every five weeks and I am just not that patient. That is on 1,200 calories a day! I lost about 20 lbs in 5 months by not eating back my exercise calories. I am a "little old lady", a few weeks shy of 71 and…
  • Probably the same person who eats 1/2 cup of ice cream.
  • I join you in these sentiments. So I have lost a lot of my friends since joining but I don't hold a grudge. I joined in September 2012 and lost 20 odd pounds. My bf saw my progress and joined a month later. She's lost 55 lbs. My sister joined that November. She's lost 39 lbs. Another friend lost 25 lbs. Another is down 15…
  • At the top of your Fitbit profile page you will see a line that starts, "Profile as viewed by you..." This is followed by your public URL. If you have a your mom's public URL you just go to that and you will see an Add Friend button.

  • I second the vote for Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole series. I am also a big fan of Susan Juby's three book Alice series ..."Alice, I Think" "Miss Smithers" and "Alice Macleod, Realist at Last." We are not told much about Alice's appearance. One YA novel about a bigger girl is "Looking Good" by Carole Lazar. It is available…
  • I had a BMI of 19 throughout my child bearing years. Always had regular periods and healthy pregnancies.
  • Congratulations!:flowerforyou:
  • I am old and sedate if not actually sedentary . I take my maintenance calories as shown under the goal tab here. (1340 because I have entered my activity level as sedentary. I wear a Fitbit so get credit for every step I take. MFP gives me a calorie adjustment for that. I then eat the lot of them. I have been maintaining…
  • 150 distributed in all the right places.
  • But this too can be a problem. I am not really short (5'3") but even at that size it was harder to project an image that suggested competence and power. I was a lawyer in my younger days and always wore my highest heels to court. You are definitely at a psychological disadvantage when opposing counsel is literally looking…
  • In to see if you get any answers/suggestions.
  • Obesity Index 22bmi You have a lower BMI than 86% of females aged 70-79 in your country. You have a lower BMI than 74% of females aged 70-79 in the world. If everyone in the world had the same BMI as you, it would remove 22,335,602 tonnes from the total weight of the world's population. You're most like someone from…
  • Some great ideas here. When it comes to breakfasts, I found when I did a lot of work related travel that in virtually any restaurant I could by-pass the menu and order one poached egg and two slices of multigrain toast and they would accommodate me.
  • I am facing the same issue though our get away will be for two weeks and it is a road trip so lots of restaurant eating and many hours sitting in a car. I will try to get in at least an hour of walking a day but I find it hard to calculate calories when eating out. DH is heavily into ethnic restaurants so salad and grilled…
  • And just how much does it cost you to see a doctor? (I too am from BC, Canada.)
  • We don't have Trader Joe's in Canada but everytime I go across the line I stop in to buy their less guilt spinach/kale dip.
  • I found an entry on the Fitbit site that explained that they used BMI and age in calculating the calories burned. Because my sister is a bit shorter and a bit heavier than I am, her BMI is 24.7 as compared to my 21.4. We have both enabled calorie estimating so we will have to check in the morning and see what our estimate…
  • Oh thanks, I will look that up.
  • Neither of us logged any activities on either MFP or the Fitbit site. Following, you may have the key to it there when you talk about intensity. She showed almost an hour of high intensity. I showed only a few minutes (probably when we were climbing a steep hill.) That being said we were walking side by side throughout.…
  • I tried changing my MFP settings so they would be the same as hers. (ie her age, height and weight.)That brought my calories for normal daily activities up by 80. A far cry from the 300+ difference in our Fitbit adjustment.
  • 15,461 steps for her. 15,623 for me. She has a Flex and I have a One so wear it on my bra band. I didn't do it for the day because we went our separate ways after the walk but she is staying with me so the numbers I am using include our morning activities and the walk which we took from about 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
  • I will have to ask her about that.
  • Yes, Sovi, I agree. My Fitbit and the sync between the two sites has worked really well for me. I have been at goal now for over a year. My sister too, has lost a lot of weight. Still I am curious. I can see her burning more than me but not twice as much.
  • I know how the adjustment is calculated and that there will be variations but this just seems so extreme. Re the Fitbit section...So maybe I should have posted there. Is there anyway to move?
  • I have been married for 51 years so I am talking about ancient history here. Once our kids were in school, I worked full time. I was also in charge of the kid and the housework. My husband cooked a lot. (That's why we've lasted half a century.) Still I remember being away on a work related conference and arriving home to…
  • That's what I was trying to say.
  • The question you might want to ask yourself, and then him is "What was that all about?" His attack on you makes me wonder what is really eating him. There is an old saying, so old it might be new to you. "If it's not your sh**, just duck."
