Seniors over 65, how are you doing your weight loss?

Wanting to know how other people my age is doing their weight loss without any excersise. I need some help.

Hi, I hope you get this. I am 64.5 years old. I have been losing and gaining 12 pounds all of my adult life. Recently I did find I can slowly lose weight with exercise and diet on myfitnesspal.com using their calculations. However, I quit and regained the 12 pounds. Frankly, I think I lose weight better without exercise, just keeping my calories in check. The judgement I put on "I should get up and exercise" causes some stress and then .....eating. I do best in a really relaxed atmosphere.0

I use a Fitbit and try to get in my steps each day. Without those exercise calories MFP says I would lose one pound
every five weeks and I am just not that patient. That is on 1,200 calories a day! I lost about 20 lbs in 5 months by not eating back my exercise calories. I am a "little old lady", a few weeks shy of 71 and weighing in at 123-125. I am an energy efficient machine unfortunately. I have maintained my weight for 2 1/2 years but still find I must log every day. (Sorry if this is not very encouraging.)0 -
I am 65 and just found out yesterday that I am now 100%cancer free after a hard fight with uterine cancer last year and am just starting on a weight loss journey after losing 25 pounds during treatment. My goal is to slowly lose another 100-150 pounds. I agree with gimpy grandma about the Fitbit, that was my movaitor during treatment. Knowing I had an amount of steps to do each day was great. I now use that along with getting started in water exercise classes at our community center. We also have an indoor walking track there that I will start using. I am also meeting with a nutritionist in a cople of weeks to get me on a good eating plan. Will see what they have to say and if I can stick to what they want me to do on my limited income.0

@janelavalley I do walk a 1/4 mile daily but that is all that I do daily. I did stop eating most all forms of carbohydrates to help manage my arthritis pain to try an avoid starting Enbrel injections due to the cancer and other health related side effects. Cutting out the carbs did cut out most of my pain so I can now can get in and out of cars without help and am more physically active than in 20 years. It is strange to be in better health at 65 than at 45. As a plus over the last 10 months another 30 pounds of fat has left my body in all of the right places. Many years ago when I became physically limited from the arthritis an old man told me they do not bury people that still wiggle so I try to at least wiggle some every day.0
