Some genuine appreciation, I think. As wives we are often guilty of taking their contribution for granted.

Fiber one cereal, skim milk and berries. 16 grams of fiber...you will stay full.

I plan my evening indulgence so it fits within my calorie allotment. I often have a 16 ounce milkshake which fills me up and satisfies my sweet tooth. I freeze a few strawberries or a half a banana sliced. Then I put 1 cup of skim milk in the blender, add the fruit, a teaspoon full of lite hot chocolate mix and some…

I usually look under the "Success story" heading because I find the before and after pictures inspiring but your story is even better. Really puts things in perspective.

I am 68 but could easily pass for 65. The good news is that so far no one has told me they thought I was 70.

I am not a cute young thing so no one bothers me when I am working out, EXCEPT the staff. I love my gym but they are always trying to sell me something. Because I am so special they allowed me to join for $99 instead of the usual $198. Just for me they will assign a personal trainer who bills out at $85 an hour but will…

I think the general wisdom is that you are unlikely to be able to get the necessary nutrition at much less than 1200 a day. But even if you use that as a start line, do you want to stay that low? It depends on who you are...how old, how heavy. Check your BMR. At 140 pounds and 68 years of age, my basal metabolism rate is…

I am in the same boat. Started with 16 lbs to lose and have been at it about 5 weeks now. Some days my scale shows I am down five pounds, some days only three. It's been seesawing back and forth. MFP has set my calorie goal at 1,200 and I am complying with that. I have joined a gym and added weight training to my exercise…

I don't see why not. I am flat as a pancake so I always set my goal weight a bit lower. I know that the extra pounds some of you put on your boobs and booty will hang on there on my belly and back.

Well count that as a major victory. And if you still feel down just imagine how depressed you would be if you had succumbed to your craving for sugar.

Hi treehugger, For a short time...well for ten years,... in my past life, I was self employed. I HATED working for myself. I was such a slave driver! Counsellors are good but even a friend could help to assure that the demands you place on yourself are humane. Right now it sounds to me like you have been responding to the…

I am not able to run but I start each day with a vigorous walk. I totally agree that it is putting it first on my schedule that prevents it from being crowded out by other concerns. I go the gym two or three afternoons a week between 1:00 and 3:00 because that is a time when they aren't busy and because I always hated…

Maybe you could clip your Fitbit onto your ear.

General Mills Fibre 1 cereal. The fibre one original has 14 grams of fibre in a one half cup serving. It is a bit like eating bark mulch but I like it with berries or half a banana. You can can get it in flakes now too and they are tastier but higher in calories. Eat it with a cup of raspberries...7gms of fibre Oranges and…

30 days and 4 pounds. I'd like to see it come off a little faster but they say this is a healthy way to lose so as long as it's going in the right direction I will keep with it.

I too am new to Fitbit. Mine arrived 3 days ago. Love the size and the fact that I can secure it pretty well anywhere on my person. Have checked it with a friend's Garmin and the distance is dead on. But I too question the calorie count.

See for yourself. I have an open diary.

Shedule is the British pronunciation. I am Canadian and here you get both the American and the British pronunciations. At least for this word the British pronunciation makes some sense...ie we have schnapps, and schnausers, and schnitzel....not to mention school...pronounced shool of course.. But the one that got me…

Maybe it's time for another relationship to end "spectacularly" or not....it needn't be dramatic but it is a relationship that probably needs to end.

I started MFP with 16 pounds to lose and am down 3. It's been slow going...a pound a week, just.

It was a dark and stormy night.... Well not when I started out. After a day with grandkids, I ended up with 300 odd calories still to burn if I was going to meet my goal for the week. So I set out for a walk at about 6:30 P.M. I decided to try a new route and I got all tangled up in some residential cul de sacs. Finally I…
