Wondered about that. My arms and legs are getting that crepe paper quality to them. I think it would really spoil the effect of a tattoo. I have also wondered about how they might be affected by pregnancy, nursing or other things that drastically change your body.

Love my Fitbit. I have the world's most demanding dog and never knew how to track my many walks of the day....they vary in speed...you know what it's like with a dog. I got my Fitbit almost a year ago. I set my activity level on MFP to sedentary and then just let the Fitbit keep track of me. I have walked 1,900 miles so…

OMG this is my thread. I am almost 70 years old. I am totally uncoordinated. Was always the last one chosen for sports teams. Very bookish. Had our year book had predictions about those least likely to remain physically active I'd have been top of the list. Add to that the fact that for almost a decade now I have been…

Totally normal. Many backpacks actually have little loops to hook your thumbs in as you walk.

My paternal grandmother was Acadian French. Her ancestors were in Cape Breton Island probably at the same time as dirty's but signed an oath of loyalty to the British crown and thus avoided expulsion. The "Cajun" of Louisiana is, I believe, just a contraction of the word "Acadian." Anyone interested in this migration might…

If you are Canadian, are you old enough to remember when July 1st was called Dominion Day?

Hi 5 for Susie Q.

Was attending university and didn't have enough scholarship money to support myself. Got a job as a mother's helper just off campus. Nice family, a room that was way beyond anything I'd had at home and 5 little boys under the age of 7. It worked for me.

Obesity levels are unusually high among women who have been sexually abused. The fat, I have read, is a shield of sorts. An old book on this subject is called, "Fat is a Feminist Issue." by Susie Orbach. It deals with the unconscious reasons that make many women reluctant to lose those excess pounds.

Because of my age (a month off 69) I can see a long term pattern in my weight gains. I am usually quite slim but at times in my life when I have been under a lot of pressure I have gained weight...usually about 20lbs. It is easy to put it down to stress eating but I think what I am really trying to do is acquire broad…

I am wondering if any churches still consider gluttony a sin. Remember the seven deadly sins? wrath, greed, sloth, pride, lust, envy, and gluttony I once had a portly pastor who bemoaned the fact that his besetting sin was right there for all to see.

November It’s dark by five, The highway slick and treacherous As rain tosses back the car lights In staccato streaks, And ricochets off wet pavement. In bed by seven Warm beneath the down duvet, I centre my book in the pool of light That spills forth From one small reading lamp. Rain, wind driven and wild, Lashes my…

My 5' 1" daughter actually wears shoes like this on a daily basis. I keep expecting to receive word that she has fallen off her shoes and broken her neck.

I found it helpful to concentrate on what I WOULD eat rather than what I shouldn't eat. So preplanning my meals and preparing the day's snacks in small zip lock bags helped.

I start almost every day with Fibre one cereal and berries for breakfast. 14gms +2 gms. I also love legumes and eat a lot of vegetables. I am usually over on fibre at the end of the day.

You are facing so many challenges but I'm just going to throw out a suggestion that might help in one area. May I recommend a "full pack walk." Nothing your puppy would like better. A chance for you and your boyfriend to share your day and a nice bit of exercise for all of you.

Chakalaka is a South African dish. I serve it over rice. I also add all the things that this recipe lists in the optional section. http://www.whats4eats.com/vegetables/chakalaka-recipe

Like many of you I wear my Fitbit ultra clipped to my bra ...BUT NOT AT THE GYM. I did that once and the sweat drowned my Fitbit. They were wonderful and replaced it free of charge but I now wear mine in the clip that is intended for use when monitoring sleep and attach it to the outside of my waistband when I am…

The figure on the scales will vary depending on what you have had to eat or drink and also what you are wearing. I always weigh first thing in the morning before I put the coffee on. I weigh in the nude. If you are going to wear clothes for your weigh-in make sure you keep your outfit the same each time.(Jeans and a…

I think it may be the way you phrase it. For instance, whether you run four miles in 2 minutes or walk four miles in an hour, I think you will find the actual calorie count is the same. There may be other benefits of the faster pace...ie building aerobic capacity but the energy (calories) is just weight(yours) times…

It probably is just one of those days. We all have them. Just think about summer and how you're going to look at the beach. You're over half way there. Think of all the work you've put in...all wasted if you go back to eating the way you were since you will just regain the weight. All that being said, maybe you need to…

Something I haven't seen mentioned is bone structure. I have a full face (squarish jaw) and what my daughter kindly calls "breeder hips." I have been underweight at times in my life....5'4" and 100-105 pounds. Still because of the face and hips, I did not look especially skinny.

Well I don't think you'll find body pump or combat but have you looked at the full data base of exercises available on MFP? I didn't find them till months after I joined but maybe that just shows how slow I am. Anyway if you click on your Exercise tab and then look on the blue bar immediately below those tabs on the…

I had a really slow start too. My second day I had lost 3lbs. Then the third day I gained 3 lbs. There it stuck for ten days. It was as discouraging as all get out. I too was religiously logging and following my 1200 calorie a day diet. (I am not a big person and like you did not have a lot to lose so time would show those…
