  • Hmm, didn't think about adding peanut butter to the granola! Sounds amazing though :D
  • I blog recipes that I've made healthy/veganised: sarahsuperfluous.co.uk :)
  • I have my porridge (oatmeal) with a bit of maple syrup, or homemade compote (which isn't full of sugar!) :)
  • Smoothies, yum ... I have those at home but (stupidly) never considered taking to work! I do make museli because its so easy, but struggled to find actual healthy granola recipes not full of sugar or honey (don't eat honey). I made my own and it's about 200 calories for 55g serving :)
  • I don't eat eggs much (on my way to vegan) ... but when I do I find they don't fill me up at all! I eat breakfast at my desk at about 9:30 usually, so try and stick to stuff I can make with minimum effort or can make at home then just eat at my desk! The whole breakfast is important/is not important thing is so confusing -…
  • Wore trainers yesterday, much better on my ankles! Knee's are still painful but this is more down to my knees rather than the workout. I haven't lost any additional weight since starting (I'm on day 4, with 2 'rest' days where I did other exercise) but I have already lost 5cm on my waist, 4cm from hips and 5cm from my…
  • I'm not in the U.S so can't share decent locations there but I can attest to how awesome skipdiving is! We do it at the larger supermarkets here (UK) and get loads of veg, bread, flowers etc - it feels good knowing we're creating less waste, and of course it's good on the bank balance ;) People ask me if I worry about…
  • I confess I didn't do it on Saturday or Sunday :( I did go hiking on those days though, so I'm hoping that makes it less naughty! Going to try and do it today as I'm all still from the hiking, but not looking forward to those bloody jumping jacks. The skipping rope really makes me knee's hurt too ... think I need to wear…
  • Nope, its an allergy. I used to get the reaction to water also, warm weather, sunshine ... my body isn't normal!
  • Got through day 3, knees hurting like crazy during the jumping jacks but I gritted my teeth and pushed through it. Viva day 4!
  • But the same can be said for any normal diet - put thought into it and plan it or you'll end up eating crap. Being vegan/veggie doesn't automatically = healthy, but that goes for any diet! Thats most of the vegans here said 'make sure she learns about eating healthily before she goes vegan'.
  • Well done for supporting your child :) Determined not to get shouty at some of the stupid comments regarding nutrition and veganism - my only advice is that as parents we should always make sure our children are eating a healthy diet, REGARDLESS of if they're vegan or not.
  • Not necessarily true - most of my meals are vegan and I eat tofu once or twice a week, max. Vegan's do not eat anything derived from any living creature. That includes bees.
  • I think people often mistake 'vegetarian' for 'healthy' and its not always the case. It's easy to eat badly as a veggie too! Too much processed fake meat, cheese, ready meals, etc. I was vegan for some time, then veggie, now I'm pescatarian although I limit myself to fish once a week. I also limit dairy to eggs once a…
  • Day 3 workout due this afternoon. My muscles say no, no, no, NO! Wondering if I should push through the pain? Annoyingly, my 'exercise hives' seem to have come back too ... reminding me why I usually stick to swimming. Does anyone else suffer from this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urticaria#Exercise_urticaria My Dr…
  • THATS what that mock stuff is?! Woah. Never bought that because, well, fake meat sucks. You learn something new every day!
  • At least 3 large cups a day ... my morning one of those has a serving of matcha tea mixed into it also. Extra oooooopmh, and I'm crazy enough to want that much caffeine ;)
  • Really? I've never seen it in whole foods in the UK =/ I buy the yeast flakes with extra B12, and take supplements, but generally thats the only thing I worry about in terms of being veggie and missing out on anything.
  • Ah, great idea on the two bras thing! Shall try that today. It's crazy but I'm really looking forward to my workout this afternoon - I'm practically bouncing off the walls with energy today :D
  • *waves* Hi :)
  • Beans, beans and more beans! Kidney, pinto and soybeans have loads of protein, and chickpeas and lentils are packed with it. Tofu has lots, and my american friends tell me seitan is pretty good too ... sadly none of that in the UK :( I try and drink a veggie protein shake daily, made with soya milk for extra protein. It's…
  • Started yesterday, feeling it in my abs today! Had a moment of weakness when I realised I couldn't even do the modified push up and considered stopping (and throwing a tantrum), but pushed through it and felt proud when I got to the end without dying. Anyone else have problems with those? Need to invest in a better sports…
