  • Do you realize how ironic this is?
  • Once a week, but I wish I could afford to go more. I think I would go everyday if I could.
  • I use my food scale everyday. Weighing everything has really taught me what portions are and has allowed me to better guesstimate portions when I go out to eat. I would highly recommend a food scale. Mine is a cheap digital one from walmart.
  • One thing you can do is ask. Which we do. We also did prepare most of our own food. You can buy produce on the street and in markets and we have not found a place yet where we can't find beans or rice. My vegan SO has traveled around the world and to some pretty remote places and has never had to eat something unknown or…
  • I'm not labeling. She labeled herself incorrectly. Words do have definitions. If she had started out with "plant based diet" I wouldn't have a problem with it but to say you are something you are not is dishonest. I also did not like to tone of judgement in her list of reasons she doesn't eat meat. Eating seafood when you…
  • If you eat seafood you are not a vegan. Also, seafood it pretty unethical depending on what you eat and how it was acquired. What is the difference between killing a chicken and killing a fish. Many ways of catching seafood destroy the ocean and produce a lot of by-catch ( which is all the animals they catch but don't…
  • Four ukuleles, one guitar, one banjo, one didgeridoo, a native american flute, one andean flute, two bongos, a conga, and a Kalimba. edit- I forgot how to post pictures and it's late.
  • Mung bean cake, licorice, and waffles. Or days like today...all of it.
  • I suggest looking into a keto diet. I lost about 15lbs before I even started exercising. I never feel deprived of food and I eat around 1200 a day. Some people love it (like me) some people hate it. But there is a lot of information available if you are interested. It's high fat, low carb.
  • Good list but technically, along with tomato, squash, okra, corn, peppers and many other culinary "vegetables" are botanically fruit. The more ya know and such...
  • The word Avocado comes from a Nahuatl Indian (Aztec) word “ahuácatl” meaning testicle.
  • I don't do cheat days unless I have one.
  • It's so nice to hear from others who have done the research! I have spent over a year studying and evaluating keto before I decided to experiment on my own body. I have spent my whole life chubby or worse. Even when I was very active and dieting, I would lose a few lbs and that's it. I never ate what I thought was poorly…
  • I just made some salmon patties last night that were awesome! 1 can salmon 3 tablespoons mayo (I use veganaise because partner is vegan and it's what's in the house) 2 eggs 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari 1 tablespoon mustard left over veggies (i used stir fry cabbage) roll into balls (about ten) pan fry until water is…
  • Yeah, I never sail "all" and I gave sources for someone to research themselves. I have been studying nutrition (specifically hormone responses to nutritional changes) for over a year. I have plenty of journal articles from around the world that confirm that very few carbs are required in human diets and that the body does…
  • Your body prefers them because they convert to fat easier. Your physiology wants to store fat, however, this biology is exactly what we are trying to work against to lose weight. Also, I am not citing any scientific sources for you. Google it yourself and maybe you will read them. I suggest JSTORE if you have a student…
  • I eat a primary plant based diet, stay low carb (under 30g). It isn't difficult when you cut unnecessary sugars out of your diet. I eat at about 1400 cal/day and am fairly active with yoga and weightlifting.
  • If you don't know anything about it, how do you manage to be so opinionated? A quick google search will give you a list of low carb foods. You could even research keto diets and find out about how intelligent people following low carb diets are managing their macros. It isn't difficult and it certainly isn't stupid.
  • Nutritional yeast with ground cashews mixed with a little soymilk makes a great cheesy mixture. Good protein and you can use it over pasta or veggies. So yummy. You can also just mix up the dry parts and keep it in a container in the fridge. add nut milk to a small portion when you need it. We eat a lot tofu also. There…
  • Hello all! I am not a vegetarian but my SO is a vegan. I eat meat only on occasion and never with him, so we cook a lot of vegan dishes. Therefore, my diet is much more keto-veg than keto-traditional. :) I am planning to go vegan when I get to my GW and can start maintenance. I am always looking for new recipes and ideas…
  • I use it to make a great cheesy sauce or Alfredo sauce to cover steamed broccoli or cauliflower. My SO is a vegan so we do a lot of adaptations. I sprinkle it on eggs and really anything else. If you mix it with powdered nut (I use cashews) it makes a very creamy sauce with a little water or soy milk warmed over the stove.
  • Yes you are quite a bit off. Unless the standard american body differs from that of other world peoples, you do not need carbs to function. In some ways your body uses carbohydrates more efficiently than fats or protein, but that does not mean they are needed. I'm not sure how some people of the world would survive if we…
  • I can't wait to hear what you think! I just had my first class a few weeks ago and I love it. It is honestly one of the best parts of my week and I wish I could do it every day. I have very limited hamstring flexibility but I have seen major changes in just these few weeks. Don't rethink! Just dive in! Good luck and I hope…
  • You don't need carbs. You need glucose and your body will adapt to run off of protein and fats just fine. It just rearranges the molecule and sends it to the brain. Yes, I know this is extremely simplified. However, the human body does not require carbs to function.

  • I'd stick to the dryer wines, but I have one of these every so often. Actually, I may drink my calories in wine a little too often. :) Have fun! Edit: Dry wine because keto. All the cheese I can eat.
  • I make mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes. I also sometimes add other root veggies such as parsnips, carrots, beets and rutabaga to a mash. Sprinkle a little cheese on it and my 4 year old eats it right up. I also have him eating baked fish instead of fish sticks and chicken chunks instead of chicken nuggets. He…
  • It's like a horoscope for nutrition.
