Gosh, sounds very serious. What is the illness called, if you don't mind my asking? Morbus Bechterev? And can the doctors - or you - do anything to delay things?

Like for many others, it was a combination of things that got me motivated to lose weight. One of the reasons was (and still is) that nearly everybody at work is slender / normal-sized. I'm one of the very few overweight people, and that is not a good feeling.

Two to three times a week. I'm single and usually cook a portion large enough to last me for two or three days.

I have more fat tissue in the left half of my lower abdomen than in the right. Looks funny when I look down my body :)

This. Unfortunately this is how our society works. But think about it: don't you react the same way? Who did you find attractive in the past - the good-looking football player or the shy, nondescript, possibly fat nerd with huge glasses? It's how we humans are wired.

This. Also, I've added things to the database but some of the information simply isn't available (for example, trans fats and unsaturated fats are usually not listed where I live).

Yup. I've often thought that if I had a stroke on a Friday night and couldn't help myself, no-one would notice until the time I'd have to be back at work. By that time I might well be dead. Oh well. If you can't handle this feeling, though, you do need to seek counselling, as Debbe suggested. Most importantly, do try to…

Was watching an old episode of Top Gear this morning, and couldn't stop laughing.

Hi William! You are on the right track and you have a good plan for the future (getting back into the Sheriff's Dept). And congratulations on losing all this weight already! Getting your life back together again is most important for your own mental health. There's one thing you need to be aware of, though: your wife might…

Am embarrassed to admit that I'll be spending the vast majority of my weekend in front of the computer ... (some of us just have no life) :)

I steadfastly refuse to get a cell phone, simply because I really HATE telephones. There are times when I even unplug my landline :) As a child, I used to eat raw spaghetti, i.e. the dry thing. I have a special spoon for my tea, one that I've been using since I was a little kid. And I go to bed at 6pm and get back up at…

I don't have a "bad date" story but reading yours - jeezus! It's amazing what twerps are running around free! I've been single for ages and occasionally think about trying to get back into the dating game, but now I'm scared ... o_0

I too love garlic, lemon juice and (various) hot sauces! In addition, I love to add ginger, red curry paste, and/or tikka masala curry powder. Oh, and soy sauce and fish sauce!

The hilarious Football Ramble podcast. If you're into football / soccer, it's well worth a listen!
-
Ha! You mean you want your friends to post more? That can be done, hunny ... #threat *hehehe* :>

I'm one of those ladies who LOVE LOVE LOVE baldies! *fans self* Learn from your mistake today, and don't skip shaving from now on, please!

*PMSL* Sorry, I have no advice on the hoover problem. Go to a few stores and ask the clerks, to get some "professional" opinions?

Yes, I have to admit that it's mainly Friedel ... *giggles girlishly*

I love watching the Premier League! My favourite teams are ManCity, Arsenal, and Spurs. Well, up until that point when AVB finally gets rid of Friedel - I'll be SO through with Spurs then! (love Friedel. And Howard Webb *phwoar*) :D Edit: I forgot: I like Newcastle too! Is anyone listening to the Football Ramble? They are…

I tried #1 during my lunch jog (well, when I paused, obviously). I didn't really feel anything, i.e. it wasn't a challenge. Now, it could be that my butt muscles are already relatively strong - I do a lot to strengthen them -; or I was doing it wrong. Or not enough repeats. I'll try it again today at lunch, this time with…

One thing that stops me craving food is a glass soy milk mixed with protein powder. For really "bad" days, I drink one glass in the morning and one at night. But somehow it sounds as if your problem is more difficult than just craving. Have you thought about seeking counselling? It might help you deal better with stress…

They sound awesome and very effective, thanks for sharing. I dare say that #3 also works your lower abs quite well. Will try these out tomorrow or Friday. If I can't walk anymore this weekend, I'll curse you :D

BTW, HBO did a highly interesting documentary called "The Weight of the Nation", highlighting the reasons why good food so often isn't available (often but not only related to poverty). It's on YouTube. If you have a little time, I highly recommend you watch it:…

It's definitely not just a US problem. All countries are facing an obesity epidemic, if the people are rich enough to buy enough food and imitate the Western lifestyle. I saw in a documentary that children from wealthy Chinese families are seriously obese (he was addicted to McDonald's). An American friend told me that…

*BWAHAHAHAHAHA* That's people for you.

Brilliant post! And not too long - or do people not read books, newspapers, or magazines anymore with way longer articles? You have a little devil in you, don't you? *hee hee* Brilliant reaction from you. Hope Kathy will learn her lesson :DD

Ah, that explains a lot. As you're still having difficulties dealing with her behaviour (and that's understandable), how about you seek counselling too? If for nothing other than getting some tips on how to deal with her better.

Claire, the foundation of a good relationship with your partner is good, honest, regular communication. The death of any relationship is bad / no communication. You two need to talk to each other! He's with you, so that indicates he likes you the way you are. But you will NEVER know for sure if you don't ask him. You…
