I can kind of do a pushup, but not many in a row and not very fast. I find myself sometimes pausing the dvd just so I can do the same amount of pushups as the people in the video. Sometimes I go into a modified pushup if there are a lot to do. I am trying very hard to put form first and speed second. I feel like some…

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. I feel like, at least with the planks I can mange a few, but I literally could not hold myself up. I'll try the rest of the month with my leg bent at the knee for extra support and see what happens.

23, currently maintaining. I quickly found that MFP needs to be a regular part of my healthy lifestyle to stay on track. I am on nearly every day and love to support others! I am also on week two of Insanity, so if you are interested in that, feel free to friend me.

I've never been extremely overweight, so I don't know that I can 100% know what you are going through. My change has been in body shape. I was a size 9 in high school and, due to increased physical activity in college, got down to a size two, which I have since stayed at even as my weight fluctuates +/- 5 pounds. People…

Way to go!

You sound just like me! I got some curves to me and am a size 32 D. Sometimes, I crave the skinny legs people have, that's just not going to happen. I usually say that even if I were to stop eating and get down to a crazy unhealthy weight my pant size would stay the same. I can't change the size of the bones in my hips.…

I think the key here is to start by loving yourself. I realized through my own mistakes that regardless of what you weigh, you will hate yourself unless you look at your self image. It won't matter if you're 200 pounds to 50 pounds. Whatever you do, I suggest this: Force yourself to compliment your body. Look at yourself…

Age:23 I've never really been overweight and I originally joined MFP because I wanted to maintain a healthy lifestyle in my adult life. I was heaviest in high school - which is where I first started to notice things like weight, and always struggled to stay below 130. In college, I walked to all my classes and joined the…

Thank you for mentioning the soda! I've been in a similar boat where my weight has been around 3 pounds more than I want it to be for a long time. If it fluctuates, that's fine, but I've been stuck here for a month or so now without ever seeing my goal weight. I have also been drinking my share of diet soda simply for more…

Here is another question related to this topic: How do you feel when you see people around your same age, gender and height that have significantly different goals? At 5'2, I say my goal weight is 115lbs, but I see people like me whose goals are as low as 101 and as high as 125. I know people all all different and we are…

This happens to me often too. Usually it's after I've been trying really hard at something and it seems to end up in failure. It's rare, but sometimes it just breaks me down. Like, why even bother where's the chocolate! I don't keep a lot of unhealthy stuff in my house, though, so I have to be active and go out if I want…

Pilates is fantastic! I did it for a semester in college. It's sort of like Yoga, but more intense. It was developed by Joseph Pilates originally to help war amputee victims. He saw that these people would lay in a hospital bed, waiting for their prosthetic, and lose all kinds of muscle. When they finally got their…

I'm 5'2. Currently 118 and at about 21% body fat. I used this site after college because my activity level changed drastically and I needed a way to track what I was doing with my health. I was off of this site for some time because I hit by goal of 115.... but I haven't seen that number for a while. Given, 3 more pounds…

102 is still underweight for 5'5. I'm 5'2 and I'd be underweight at 102. I am happy you are working on getting healthy, but please seek professional consoling and see a nutritionist to know what you should eat and weigh.

Add me!

I agree. My goal is 115 but I tend to float between 115 and 120. That being said, I think there is something to be said for getting to close to the edge of your range. For the past few weeks, I've been in the upper teens a whole lot to the point where I haven't weight 115 for a month or two.To me, that means I need to…

I have dealt with this for a very long time. I actually had college friends who claimed I had an eating disorder because I was so concerned with fitness and eating healthy, when, in actuality, I was just passionate about health. I have a tendency to talk about my passions, but I learned that I can't do that when it comes…

http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/5585219-tk I love making new reader friends!

I'm currently reading Dragonhorse and Seeker of the Forgotten Knowledge by Denice Garrou. I won it on GoodReads and I have a feeling it is a self published book. It certainly reads like self published book, but I think it has a lot of potential so far. p.s. send me a message if you want to be my friend on GoodReads.

For the record, I just started Insanity, but I have know a few people who have gone through the program. I find this video review to be a pretty good summary of what those people tell me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhlN4yB6Kxg For my personal goals, I'm really only looking to lose about 5 pounds (not a big deal, I…

I know this is late, but I wanted to comment here because I have also had issues with my lower back including pain. The key is to focus extremely hard on keeping your core tight, even if you have to move slower in order to do that. Secondly, if you are able, I'd recommend seeing a chiropractor as doing that has helped me…

Or, it could have something to do with your form. I just started Insanity, but I have done similar work outs in the past. When I jump, my feet always want to land incorrectly. Watch the videos and make sure your feet and legs are in the right positions.

I just started Insanity. I am doing the same thing I did when I used to attend a Crossfit gym. I just throw out an estimate of calories I burned - usually 200-300 for a good 40 minute workout. I'm light, so I know I'm not going to be burning thousands of calories. The way I see it, if I really like the program, complete…

Does anyone have a good way of calculating calories burned without using a HRM?

What did you guys do after you finished insanity? Did you just start over from month one again?

This, and also, a person who is tight on money may not be able to afford to have internet in their home. And libraries are only open at certain times. Finding time can be especially hard if you are work 2+ jobs. I don't think people who define themselves as poor are out buying clothes and then lamenting about how much…

I bet there are healthy home made granola bars you can look up, otherwise I would suggest fruit you can just grab and go, like an apple or banana. Eating an apple will usually tide me over for at least an hour or so. But, if you wake at 4, I don't know if there is anything less than eating breakfast that will satisfy your…

I manually put in the weight machines just to keep track of the weight I am using. I remember reading something on MFP that said the reason they don't provide a calorie count for strength training is because there are too many variables. It depends on the weight, age and gender of the person, as well as the number of reps,…

Thanks for the advice. Do you guys have any idea of a scale? For example, using a Leg Press I can do 90 pounds. Would you cut that in half if I was doing one leg at a time? Would you do the same for the arms and simply cut the weight in half?

For the price, I really like planet fitness. I have no idea how others run, but mine includes "personal training" as a part of the 10$ a month. What this really means is that there are fitness classes and time slots where you can sign up to work one on one with the trainer to see what you need to do to meet your goals. I…
