So the thing about those scales with BF% is that they are a crock (in my opinion). Even doing stuff with calipers can be pretty off. Your best bet is to take measurements and put those into a calculator... or go get a scan professionally. I find that the way that the scales work with the electronic wave is bs. Do it also…

I have found over my last year of eating healthy and exercising and my girlfriend not being interested AT ALL with this, that you really need to let people do it in their own time. My gf used to complain ALL the time about being overweight, and now finally has made the decision to actually DO SOMETHING about it.…

I have long since struggled with this! I am 4'10.5 and I always feel because I have a small frame that I need less. NOT TRUE. I am at a weight where I am generally maintaining. BUT I also am gaining strength, and just pretty much shocked my system in terms of my nutrition and exercise AND I have been sick. I eat about 1400…

I agree with ALL of this. I have YET to try Seitan because I cant find it ANYWHERE!!! But I want to so bad. Need to find better ways to prepare tempeh... i find it has too bland of a taste for me but still buy it for a heck of a lot of protein.

Vegan here too! I became a vegan officially in the November/December time and have been going strong since. For those of you asking how to transition just remember its all a process. A journey. JUST like weight loss. AND it is ever changing the more you go. Sometimes I am tempted to go more raw....and then cant because i…

Think of QUALITY over quantity. Make sure whatever your calories are, it doesnt matter if you are eating 1200 or 2100, the biggest factor is quality. Get rid of processed foods if possible.

Have you ever considered it is WHAT you are eating and not how much that causes the gain at 1200? Your BMR is what your body expends were you laying down straight all day long. Example: being in a coma. You really should look at what your TDEE is instead. TDEE stands for total daily energy expenditure. I used to be…

Of COURSE you can add me! I know that a lot of times especially in the health and fitness industry people say that you cant be vegan and get what you need. But there really are two sides to that. I probably have one small apple with 2 TBSP of almond butter and ground cinnamon EVER day. Just because I love it. I get most of…

ALSO I am a Vegan as well!! SO here are some foods I use for protein: Black Beans, Spinach, Non GMO Tofu, Tempeh, Almonds/Nuts/Seeds, Garden of Life Raw Protein Powder, Nutritional Yeast, Sprouts, Asparagus, Kale/other leafy greens, Nut Butters There ARE some wonderful protein sources out there for vegans and a lot of them…

I TOTALLY get you here. When I was first trying to lose weight some bad advice from a trainer told me to eat about 600 cals a day. Eventually I ended up eating closer to 300-450. I didnt do it specifically to starve myself but it just kind of happened. Eventually I realized that I was going to need to eat more.... and so I…

SO one side of my belly has always had a bit more fat than the other. Not exactly how you described.... I think that it will always tend to have more fat than the other though... unless I get to about 10% BF... which I don't really wanna do. I am okay with this.... I think if I am correct, that of course it will go away…

One of my favorite snacks. i love to eat them in the mornings for whatever reason. LOL.

I weigh myself MAYBE once a month... just to check in to see where I am at. Over this month I have stayed the same, and that is A-OK with me.... especially because I HAVE lost inches. I HAVE gotten smaller. I mean it was good for getting me started on my journey but really... yah so glad to be rid of the chains from the…

Honestly--- when I get where I want to be I will most likely give myself another goal and forget that I got to the goal I had wanted before LOLOLOL. Seems the whole journey I have been doing that. BUT something that I do tend to enjoy is going out and buying new clothes. Love having a new wardrobe. AND I cut my hair. That…

Cut out processed crap. Seriously--- processed food is, in my opinion, the reason most of us gained weight to begin with by addicting us to food. We always joked as kids that Coca Cola still had cocaine in it... or friends have said, "Jack in the box has crack in their burgers" or "Chipotle must have crack" and honestly I…

There are lots of ways. Beans are GREAT. Edamame is awesome. Lots of greans (Spinach is a low cal high protein food). NON-GMO Tofu --- those boca products are gmo unless otherwise noted. Organic Tempeh has about 20 grams of protein per serving. Chia seeds. Flax Seed. Raw protein shake. Asparagus has a bit of protein in it…

Okay--- I didn't read what everyone else said on here but I will tell you that I have been where you are. I was eating about 300-450 calories a day for months back when I started losing weight. It was something that just kind of happened and not really a concious choice to "starve" myself. ANYWAY---there was NOTHING I…

Anyone else that's a shorty have a short torso? I am finding that because my torso is so short that I think that I look bigger than I am. SO frustrating.

Hey all. I am 4'10.5 and about 117lbs. I stopped weighing myself tho (or so I am trying to) and focusing on inch loss. I take a photo once a week and am going to be measuring once a month. Since Dec. 6 I have lost 7 inches from my waist and 6 inches from my hips. Am about 27% BF right now but would like to be down to 20.…

honestly... i do believe myself that calorie counting works. however i think the problem is what those calories consist of. i actually am starting a video blog about this stuff because it was something ive been learning the hard way. its all about WHAT you put into your body. How processed it is. How much stuff…

TY ladies. I go back and forth about being excited that I am being vulnerable in terms of my journey and the fact that maybe it could help even just one person, and being COMPLETELY embarrassed about it. Either way, hopefully I will benefit as well from the whole process nutritionally and motivationally etc.

I am a Crossfitter. I started last July... I LOVE it. I was SOOOO out of shape and terrified. But I am doing awesome now. Finally doing pull ups without help, and have dropped 65 lbs. Best bet? Go and try it out at your local gym. They prob have a free intro class. If you like it... try it for three months. Guarantee you…

Honestly I am Vegan--- I started for moral reason and am now feeling the benefits of the diet. The strongest girl at my Crossfit box is also Vegan and has been for 20 years. I honestly think that there are probably pros and cons to each diet and it really depends on HOW you go about your diet. I do my best to get as MANY…

Also I notice that you have lost 10 lbs since you joined in Dec. 2011 that is almost 3.5 lbs a month. While that doesnt seem like a lot.... think about 10 months from now.... thats another 35 lbs.... just keep trucking hon. You got this!

Trust the HR monitor over MFP... MFP is just a guesstimate of what you could burn. Might mean you should be eating more than 1200 calories... when I get an HR monitor, if I find I burn a lot more with exercise, I am going to up my cals.

Hey hon! I am already going to tell you you are going to get people here who are going to say "OMG DONT DO THAT YOU WILL KILL YOUR BODY!" And while I wont say that, and will say that I did lose weight the "wrong" way, I would NOT advise doing it the same. Here is why (and this is why I won't go back to it no matter how…
