I have been CrossFitting for about 4 months now! I love it!! I don't have a considerable amount of weight to lose but I'm getting ready for my wedding and would love to share some support!

I agree with everything everyone else here has said... there's no spot treatment, instant fix, etc. However, I really feel like a lot of stomach bloat/pooch comes from the types of food you eat, too! While I realize my diet choices aren't for everyone, I have taken out most grains, sugar, and dairy out of my diet and my…

Properly fitted shoes, my SpiBelt (great for the day of the race- fits your power gels, phone, ID, $$, etc) but super lightweight, and iPod shuffle. :) I also use Nike earbuds that stay in place pretty well.

If you have the calories (and the willpower to stick to those calories), then I see nothing wrong with treating yourself every day. Again, you have to have the willpower to keep it small, or within your calorie range. But depriving yourself to once a week may just lead to a binge, so if a small daily treat helps, then go…

I think the point of the first phase of the SB Diet is to get rid of your body's cravings for sugar & carbs. So if you are really serious about sticking to the SB plan, then yes, it probably wouldn't be a very good idea. I'm all about moderation, so normally I would say, go have a drink or two. But again, the point of the…

There are plenty of yummy healthy choices at Red Lobster! You just have to know what they are :) Steamed lobster, crab legs, and grilled fish are all delish and healthy options. I was there father's day weekend and had an entire pound of steamed crab legs and a baked potato (you can sub for broccoli!), with a garden salad…

I don't know EXACTLY what you're eating, but when I did the South Beach Diet I fell into the habit of eating too many almonds and cheeses and not enough vegetables. Also, try and stick to a 1200-calorie minimum... and drink LOTS of water! Hope that helps...

I think it is different for everyone depending on what your goals are, but a good way to find a healthy range is to calculate your BMI. If you go to a site like this: http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ you can easily calculate it. Also, here's a chart from Rush on the "ideal" weight and height.…

I agree with Jamie... try to eat whole, unprocessed foods, and limit your sugar intake. And of course, switching up the workout routine helps! But I think it's best to focus on your diet to start :)

Thanks for the ground turkey tip! I have been doing lots of reading about paleo lately, and to me it does not seem like a "fad" diet. In essence, it removes everything that is man-made and really not meant for us to be eaten. I totally understand why someone would not want to do this... it seems very anti-everything we've…

I'm with you there. Yes, a calorie is a calorie, but carbs turn to sugar, and sugar turns to fat. Unless you're an endurance runner... more protein and fat, yay! (I just started the Paleo journey and am learning to love fat!)

I agree, the whole thing makes me sick!! People in today's world just want things NOW, instead of working hard to get their desired results. No substitute for hard work! Sigh....

It sounds like you need some more protein or fat. How about some sliced deli meat rolled up with a piece of cheese? You'll get both, with minimal calories : )

Name: Maggie Where you live: Mt. Prospect, IL (NW burb of Chicago) Time CF'ing: 1 week! haha, I just finished the intro classes and am starting the real ones this week. I'm so excited. Yes, it sure does raise your heart rate! It is very high intensity... I had my first basic workout the other day - it was only about 10 minutes but I was out of breath after about 3! haha. I have a HR monitor, maybe I will wear it next time! Thanks! : )

Wow, 121 pounds.. that's amazing!! I saw this earlier today-- it's long, and it's someone else's post, so I can't take credit for it. But it sounds like it might help you out. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/187973-an-email-response-that-might-help-some?page=1%23posts-2493477

I understand not everyone is going to go searching for me-- I looked a little myself-- just wondering if anyone in the industry knew anything relevant offhand. I used to be a trainer as well, I just enjoy reading up on this stuff! : )

My FAVORITE is Fage plain with honey!! (Athenos makes one too... yummy as well.) It's all natural, and the honey adds sweetness to counteract the plain taste. SO delish and good for you!

Yes, you should count calories from fruit!! I have done Weight Watchers (recently) and they have calculated the points you have per day. They strongly reiterate in every meeting that fruits are not "FREE," they are just zero PointsPlus. You still have to count your servings/portions. Trying to count calories AND do Weight…

Oh definitely. It's not a set night or day, and it's usually not an entire day - just a meal, or a portion of the meal. On Friday nights sometimes I'll have a glass of wine and a little more indulgent dessert than normal. But, I generally try not to deprive myself during the week so that I don't feel such a strong urge to…

Let's say you "sprint" for 10 minutes and burn 200 calories. (hypothetical... I have no idea what you'd burn personally) Or, you might "jog" for 20 minutes... you'd probably burn 200 calories. As far as "burning fat vs. burning carbs".... it's all just about calories. You burn more calories, you lose more fat! SO, if…

Hey everyone!! I've been using MFP on my iPhone only, and just recently started to use it on my desktop at work : ) I'd love to join your challenge! Soudns like a motivational bunch! I really believe that the way these drinks "work" is simply limiting your calories. Shakeology, Slim Fast, whatever... there's no miracle to them, except that they have some ingredients that keep you fuller (protein, fiber, etc) and keep you from eating. I think anything that has a "plan" will work if you stick to it!!…

I gave it up for Lent once in college!! It was really difficult, but I'm thinking of doing it again this year. I typically don't drink anything but water and Crystal Light iced tea at dinner. I definitely noticed my cravings for EVERYTHING went down when I stopped drinking it!!! Time to do that again!
