  • Anything I want within calorie goals, however having said that I try to eat my fiber, choose more vegetables than meat on my plate, drink my water, avoid processed foods and control my snacking by planning portions ahead of time. Favorite choices to keep me on the path are: chicken, tilapia, shrimp, salmon, lean ground…
  • Hi, I lost 60 then got some kind of will power block and stayed there most of the summer and then gradually gained back 5 or 6. Puttin the breaks on that and reengaging with my calorie goals and exercise. I'm already seeing progress, yes we can do this!
  • Thanks, hang in there brother! -Nancy
  • Hi Rachel, these are on my fridge. I read em when I need em. Have a great day! -Nancy
  • Stay calm, like anything else that's worth it, this too takes work and dedication. I takes time and patience to figure out what works and what doesn't and your preferences will also change over time as you open yourself up to try new foods. You won't always be stuck with the prepackaged foods because they are already…
  • Agree! I have tried alternating water between drinks (to stay hydrated too) If its an event where you can bring a dish, bring something you can enjoy that fits into your plan. I do this at holidays with family so I have a "go to". If that fails don't beat yourself up, just have a little of everything (which is OK by the…
  • Welcome Sara, you will be surprised how quickly your endurance and strength improve, great job on signing up for the 2.5k goal, you can do it! -Nancy
  • Good morning! I've got trashed knees too and was embarassed to wear a suit out of the water infront of people. I loved swimming on summer swim team in my youth but stopped being active after HS. When I started swimming at the YMCA in January (25 years later...), I had to wade in on the zero depth end and make my way down…
  • I started with walking Oct 2014, when January came I joined my local ymca for $1 (membership drive) as a reward for first 30 lbs lost. I loved swimming as a child and swam on my town's summer swim team. I was usually in the outdoor city pool from 11am to 5 or 6pm, sometimes went home for supper and came back in the…
  • It took me a good week to "get my stroke coordinated" I looked at several youtube instructional videos to understand the stroke. I still move like a turtle through the water but it is constant steady movement. Since I have reduced in size, the drag in the water has lessened. I'm looking forward to a faster pace eventually:)
  • In January and February I tried to swim at least 3 to 4 times per week at 650m per session and I loved it, low impact and you can sweat gracefully in the water:) I went back to walking outside and recently biking my neighborhood. When it gets too hot I will probably go back to the pool at the YMCA, or actually I think you…
  • Hi Brandy, Momentum was my "one word" (from a short bible study) to focus on for 2015. Making the best decision you can in the moment you need to make it, and acting on it in a positive way was my definition of momentum as it related to my weight loss. It sounds like you have a strong reason to act or accomplish something,…

  • Left over Beer Brat and baked beans and mac n cheese. No, not healthy (except the beans maybe) but leftovers are affordable:)
  • This was me too..we are onions with many layers:)
  • I injured myself 10 years ago and worked on my feet 40 hours a week at a plus size women's clothing store. I had a 4 and 2 year old and thought how can I focus on myself? There is just no time, I'm a FT working mom with a crazy schedule and my injury just won't completely heal. I felt like I was getting nowhere fast and my…
  • Do your best and your good habits will carry you through! Have fun on your vacation and don't sweat the small stuff:)
  • I do CICO daily and TRY to eat clean but end up just eating more whole foods and less or no processed foods. My choices overall have become much better since starting this over 6 months ago, more educated about nutritional content and saying NO to something that is just not worth it calories or taste wise. I am much more…

  • WOW what a difference, keep fighting the good fight! -Nancy
  • I use the 1 pound boxes of butter (the ones with 4 quarter sticks in it) as a mental reminder when I feel like things are moving too slowly. 1 box of butter equals 1 pound of fat lost:) Love these visuals! -Nancy
  • Welcome to the best decision you will ever make, taking control of your health! MFP has been a great logging tool and source of group support. I'm 44 and 5'4" tall, I started at 281 pounds on 10/3/14 and am down 51 pounds as of today. I have never lost this much weight before and am very happy that its finally coming off…
  • Started at 281lbs in OCT last year, calories are set at 1525 per day, 51 lbs gone as of today. Water weight seemed to come off quickly at first, I lost 10 in the first 2 weeks. Then after that and ongoing 1.5 per week on average. Tips: 1. Drink at least eight 8 oz cups of water per day every day. WATER 2. Avoid "diet"…
  • Sweet Potato Brownies http://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/recipes/sweet-potato-brownie-bites-daphne-oz I sub whole wheat flour for white and cut out the chocolate chips, sometimes I use 3 eggs bc I like eggy things and it ups the protein content <3 My brownies are between 37 and 50 calories each when I use a mini muffin tin…
  • Divide and conquor! Its worth it to take some time and plan something out. When I was in school (looooong time ago) I portioned out everything I could so I could make something "fresh" for myself when I cooked. I either froze it, like taking a pound of ground beef and making 4oz HB patties between wax paper in a zip lock,…
  • Wonderful job, I LOVE before and afters and yours is a good one!
  • I can take it or leave it however, I do get that funny blood sugar drop feeling if I go too long without something. I find that routine is best for me. I have 2 slices of high fiber toast with butter and a cup of coffee at my desk during the week most mornings:) Eggs with toast and coffee on the weekends.
