The best book I've read explaining the theory/science behind low carb dieting and why we need to eat fat is The Zone by Dr. Sears. I've been on South Beach diet. And, I've been on a doctor supervised "Protein Sparing Modified Fast". Both worked well. If someone wants a good diet to guide them I will recommend South Beach.…

I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out where my husband and I can go for some weight training that we can afford. It looks like it will be PF.

Right. Unless you are currently premenstrual. Then it will take about a week. &:)

You did not gain 3 pounds of fat in 3 days. I'm also guessing that 1600-1800 calories is still a deficit compared to what your body needs to maintain its current weight. The "bad" eating you did over the weekend probably resulted in a significant increase in sodium and you are carrying water weight.

Give him a choice... make an appointment and go see the doctor or the next time he's short of breath you're calling 911.

I've been carrying excess fluid all last week so I have no progress on the scale.

Welcome! 1. Do you prepare the same LCHF meals for the entire family. A baby? Yes. My hubby is now eating "lower" carb. He supplements additional carbs to reach his carb and calorie needs. I can't answer to how best to feed a baby on low carbs other than most baby diets shouldn't include empty calories, starchy carbs…

At age 70 and 80 lbs overweight I'd worry more that it is Congestive Heart Failure. Make him a doctor's appointment and make him go.

Yes. I eat low carb, have been in ketosis for over 5 months and have no gallbladder.

Don't eat dairy. Keep dancing.

That must be why men usually gain weight after marriage.

A new wedding set.

I would find the nearest store and buy packs of nuts, hard boiled eggs, sugar free jello packs, lettuce and deli roast beef as back up food. Keep the nuts on you at all times. Breakfast: Hopefully the continental breakfast will include hard boiled eggs. Many hotel complimentary breakfasts do. Eat those. Lunch: Eat the…

Increase your fat intake to decrease the sugar cravings. Peanut butter will curb your sweet tooth more than jelly. More sweets will make the cravings worse. And make sure you are eating enough calories.

I am on a very low carb diet. I mean extremely low carb diet monitored by my doctor. I eat cauliflower. I use to eat dairy but have given that up for reasons other than my diet. My calories are divided up as follows (macros): 5% carb, 35% protein, 60% fat. I've lost 55 lbs in 5 1/2 months. I dropped weight very fast the…

I had to climb into the church's 10-passanger van last night. That has always been a real challenge. Last night... no problem.

I am a type 2 diabetic. I control my blood glucose with a very low carb diet (monitored by my doctor). It works very well for maintaining my blood glucose levels without medication and, as you can see, I have lost 55 pounds in the last 5 1/2 months. I have more energy and feel great. Eat low carb as your physician has…

Since chap stick and lipstick are oil based it is perfectly acceptable and possibly even desirable on a low carb diet.

Sugar free jello Splenda Spaghetti Squash - I just used a cup of spaghetti squash as the filler in meatloaf. It was perfect. Almond milk - I just used almond milk as a substitute for heavy cream in a low carb pumpkin pie recipe. It worked great. I had to find a sub because I am currently going non dairy for hormonal…

If you are seriously worried about calories in lipstick and chap stick then you have crossed over into an unhealthy obsession.

I've been eating a chocolate MIM every morning for breakfast. It's like having chocolate cake for breakfast. Who can beat that? LOL!

The Low Carb group has a thread dedicated to Muffin-in-a-minute which are made with flax meal. They are gluten free and quite good. Very filling. I usually have one each morning for my breakfast. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/453964-low-carb-muffin-in-a-minute

I just pulled mine license out to check. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I currently weigh exactly what my Driver's License says I weigh. Thank you for bringing this unknown victory to my attention. Woohoo.

I bagged up a closet full of clothes on Saturday to be gotten rid of. Clothes that are now too big, too old and stuff I know I will never wear. Keeping me in clothes that I can wear to work is becoming a challenge. It's a challenge I'm more than willing to take on. LOL!

Turkey "bacon" is just wrong. Fake bacon flavored turkey styrofoam. I couldn't have stuck to this diet and lost any weight without being able to eat bacon. Bacon is good for the soul and the taste buds. I buy my bacon from a local meat producer. It is so lean I hardly get any grease in the pan.

I found the chocolate ones to not taste very chocolaty and not sweet enough. I adjusted the recipe by using 2 packets of splenda and added a touch of vanilla. It tastes just like chocolate cake.

You can crash diet and maybe lose 25 pounds in 7 weeks. But, you will likely gain it all back and then some. Better to slow down your expectations. Set a goal of 1 to 1 1/2 pounds a week and stick to a healthy diet and exercise plan. You will take longer to lose it but it will be a lasting lifestyle change.
