  • I am all over this one. Yummy.
  • I had figured out a date that I expected to reach my goal weight after seeing how the weight loss progressed for several months. I set up intermittent goal dates as well. I even figured in the weight slow down as I got closer to goal. As soon as I figured all that out, my body decided it was on its own time table and I…
  • It's easier to hit those calories when you add fat to your diet. You also just need to eat better food.

  • You are consistently not eating enough calories. Do eat above 1200 a day most days. An occasional dip below is okay but don't make it a habit. Also, track your fat intake. It needs to be at least 60% of your calories.

  • I experienced the cold flashes before and during losing weight. As I'm losing weight I just get very cold but it's different than the cold flashes. The weight loss cold doesn't feel like it's coming from inside of me. It feels a lot more environmental and my feet especially will be like ice. With the cold flashes my whole…
  • Are you peri-menopausal? Cold flashes are a symptom just like hot flashes. I never got hot flashes but I would get cold flashes.
  • In the USA most insurances will pay for a basic glucometer for type 2 diabetics. You don't need a meter that monitors continuously.
  • You need liquids more than anything. Broth, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, water, more water. Scrambled eggs are a good start for something more solid. Keep some glucose tabs around if you are taking medication that will lower your blood glucose.
  • You probably already read bloodsugar101's "You Did NOT Eat Your Way to Diabetes!" but it's worth repeating: http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/14046739.php
  • A battery powered electric travel razor. You can get one pretty cheap at Walmart. They use AA batteries.
  • I'm turning into a shar pei. I'm looking great in clothes though. &:) I'm planning on needing surgery to remove excess skin. There's no way I could build enough muscle to fill this bag of skin. And, at my age, I can't expect much elasticity. A friend of mine had excess skin removed from her tummy after losing 94 pounds.…
  • The other day I wanted to chuck my whole diet and drive thru McD's for a caramel frappe. It's not that I even had a taste for it. I just wanted the pleasure of driving thru and ordering it. It was crazy. I got home safe and sound with my BG still under control. But I understand just how easy it is to go off the deep end.

  • The only way to "blow it" is to give up. This is just a bump. I second Kiramaniac's suggestion of adding probiotics and prebiotics to your diet to keep your digestion on track. In case of emergency: Coffee works well for me.
  • If you stay very well hydrated, and you should, the ketostix will often show negative. Also, if your body is very efficient in producing and using ketones, there often isn't any excess ketones to spill over into your urine. If you are sticking to a keto level of carbs, aren't craving sugars and feel great, you are in…
  • No such thing as "too much fat" as long as you are meeting your protein needs.
  • Tell yourself over and over and over again, "I cannot gain 2 kg of fat overnight." When you see the scale jump like that it's just a fluctuation of water weight.
  • Everyone experiences different symptoms of PCOS. I'm different in that I always had very regular periods until peri-menopause, had no difficulty with fertility, and am unaware of ever having ovarian cysts. However, I have a multitude of other PCOS symptoms. I shave my face every day, thinning hair on top, I have skin tags,…
  • You didn't ruin anything. Your body is probably thanking you. Awesome meal. The only reason to have eaten only 5 oz would be to have 2 more meals just like it. Yum.
  • Definitely get a second test done to confirm it. A lot of people see a huge drop in triglycerides with a low carb, moderate protein, high fat diet. I know that sounds counter-intuitive but it works. While I didn't have high triglycerides, they dropped from 106 to 68 in a 3 month period.
  • I don't consider WLS cheating or easy. It's not. I also understand the difficulty of losing weight with PCOS, insulin resistance, and diabetes. I also know that the struggle with weight often times has nothing to do with will-power. I have PCOS. I'm also a Type 2 diabetic. If my only option for weight loss was bariatric…
  • Besides the ribeye, I do enjoy making "Bucky Burgers" (named after my late brother-in-law). 1/2 pound of ground beef (they've got to be big to be a Bucky Burger) pan fried medium-rare with Worstershire Sauce. Then covered in mushrooms and onions sauteed in butter with garlic. Throw some bacon on it all and your cheese of…

  • Don't decrease fat on a low carb diet. You need the fat. Eat whole eggs. Use butter. I highly recommend that you get a book to help you learn how to follow the paleo diet properly. Borrow one from the library. I hear "Practical Paleo" and "It Starts with Food" recommended a lot.
  • I am a lot more sensitive to caffeine in Keto. I have to watch any caffeine intake in the evening or it will keep me awake. That never use to bother me. I could drink tea, coffee, cola all evening and still sleep. Not anymore, not in keto. I also find that my muscles get very restless if I go too long not using them. They…
  • It only takes about a minute to make homemade mayo with an immersion blender.
