  • I eat shiritaki noodles almost every day to add bulk and fiber without calories. I prefer plain shiritaki since the calorie count is 0, and the tofu noodles have 30 to 40 calories per small package. As someone said earlier, the trick is to rinse them well, then dry fry before you use them. I add them to soups or a stir fry…
  • So glad to hear that it might get better! Now that I'm CAPABLE of doing sit ups and "rockers", I can't because it hurts my tailbone too much. Also, the loose skin. I'm so glad I'm healthier, but I was hoping to be able to wear a bathing suit without being so self conscious. Nope. I have nothing to wear. Slowly replacing…
  • It's obviously a lot more likely to have a big drop when you have a lot to lose. I've dropped 6.8 in a week several times when I had a "whoosh".
  • I'm 5'9". Started last September at size 28 or so, 333 lbs. I'm now wearing Medium tops and size 10 pants. Hang in there. I lost 50 lbs. or so before I really starting going down in size. Not sure why.
  • I was extremely fortunate to have connected with Tony Paradis, a really wonderful Registered Dietician, when I started my weight loss and exercise plan. He has REALLY helped me sort through all the myths and stupid stuff on the internet and kept me on track and safe. He has an answer for the twists and turns in my journey…
  • ^^^^This. It works really well for me. Eating breakfast or a large lunch makes me really hungry much sooner and I hate going to bed kinda hungry and "rumbly". I discussed this with the Registered Dietician who's keeping a friendly eye on my weight loss just two days ago and he says it's perfectly fine.
  • ....and yet another vote for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. The Double Chocolate is yummy and it mixes really well.
  • Yep. Totally can't handle multi vitamins with any iron in them. I'm almost instantly sick whether it's on a full tummy or not, am or pm. I take a multi without the iron - no problems.
  • To each their own I guess, but I've been at 1050-1200 for 9 months now. I'm being followed by my physician, a Registered Dietitian, and a trainer. They're all fine with the plan I'm following. I'm 5'9", started at 333 lbs. in September. Now at 205. I focus on getting plenty of protein to help preserve as much muscle as…
  • I was on a Dr. supervised VLCD a few years ago. I drank six 100 cal. Medifast shakes each day and had blood work and a urine test each week. I lost 70 pounds in about 3 1/2 months. My rate of loss was faster than most other plan participants (we had weekly meetings) because I was able to start exercising as well.…

  • I really like the Flatout flatbread that I bought at Costco - it's multi-grain with flax, high fiber, 9g of protein and only 100 cals. They're really big and hold lots of healthy sandwich goodies. I've also toasted them under the broiler for a minute and used them for pizza crusts. Lo cal pizza, totally yummy!
  • Yep. It's definitely possible. I'm 56 and have lost 107 pounds since Labor Day. Still have quite a few to go. I was a computer vegetable before then. I also no longer have high blood pressure, high cholesterol or sleep apnea. Hang in there!
  • I just recently came off of Lisinopril/HCTZ after taking it for 3 years. My blood pressure problems resolved pretty quickly when I started exercising and losing weight. (Yea!). However, I gained 8 pounds in the first day, and 6 more the day after! After discussions with my doctor and lots of research into the latest…
  • Hi Tony. Thanks for doing this! I'm in Flower Mound, too. It's about time we got some rain.... Soooo....I'm 56, 5'9", 312 lbs. at the moment. I swim 45-60 minutes a day - leisurely laps. Until I started exercising a month ago, I was the definition of "sedentary", spending all my waking time at the computer. I still spend…
  • I've been a lurker on the boards for a few weeks, but your post inspired me to complete my profile and send some friend requests. I have about 150 lbs. to lose and have just started the journey, but eating healthier foods and starting to move is already making me feel better. It might just be in my mind at this point, but…
