  • @orlcam Thanks for your take on stevia. It confirms what I thought about the product. I guess their are no perfect sweeteners out there yet. Maybe that is a good thing? It is hard for me to resist sweet things. How much harder would it be if it was sweet and calorie-free?
  • @mamainthekitchen Probably not much help to you but I keep my fast days simple. Often eating the same thing for breakfast. Today I had peanut butter on a rice cake and a banana for breakfast and plan to have some leftover lamb and veggies for dinner. @meghan509 - so glad you did not get snowed in. Fun at first but a pain…
  • Fast day for me. Looking forward to the quiet it brings. Can't believe April is upon us already! Have a good day, all.
  • @KateNkognito - Glad you are back and glad all your busy was good. And thank you for your prayers I cherish them - from your lips to God's ear. :)
  • Just in case you all forgot what I looked like, here is a pic of me after my weigh-in. :D @sjgold123 - I so know what you mean!!! My husband is saying I am always on my tablet. It isn't because I am doing emails or checking Facebook, it is because I have to log EVERYTHING! If I don't it doesn't take long for me to go…
  • Well the scale, inspite of how mean it can be, decided to give me a early birthday present. I had set a goal last month 145 lbs by my birthday, April 5. Last week I was really sick and just couldn't muster the energy to log, exercise, or even be disciplined about what I ate. I didn't even weigh last week because I knew it…
  • Hello everybody. Finally catching up after my cold. Still have a bit of congestion but over all feeling better. Didn't eat very well last week. Something about taking it out on myself when I am miserable. And then there is the comfort aspect af food. Funny how easy it is for me to believe that I can eat what I want ant it…
  • @sjgold123 - So sorry it has been so hard. It is a new week with new opportunities. The beauty of doing a lifestyle change is every day is a new opportunity to jump into the lifestyle. Overeating does not make you a failure. Even people who do not have to watch their weight overeat. It is the choices you make from here…
  • @Meghan509 So sorry to hear things are not going well for you lately with 5:2. So frustrating to do all of the right things but not achieve the outcome you had hoped for. :/ I have often wished I could go to coffee with my body to find out what is really going on. I hope you do stay in touch because we like you for so much…
  • @orlcam Well, on the bright side, I saw TWO mentions of 5:2. First was in the Costco Connections magazine in an article on fasting that mentions 5:2, fasting windows of eating and the once a month fasting (don't remember the official name but @ryenday has done it). The second was in a web article that talked about Jimmy…
  • @Meghan509 - LOL!
  • Light day for me too. Looking forward to tomorrow, if you know what I mean. ;)
  • Yes, @sjgold123, hang in there. There are lots of things that can cause a scale not to budge - too much salt, TOM, building up muscle, etc. Give it a few more weeks before throwing in the towel. @meghan509 Maybe you and your guy could chase each other around the house for exercise? :D
  • @Meghan509 Glad you were spared. We had a tree knock down a line and our power was off for 5 days in December. We do get quite chilli here at night due to the low humidity. Was soooo thankful when the power and heat returned.
  • @meghan509 Been thinking about you. Sounds like your area was not effected by the power outages?
  • Thank you for the info @orlcam. I will look into Magic Pill. As for me, my basic rule is the farther food gets from it's earthly origin, think foods like Cheetos and foods with unpronouncable names in the ingredient list, the worse it is. My other rule is everything in moderation. :)
  • Good week for me too. Down 1 pound. Very happy. @orlcam - Glad to see you coming out of lurker status. Wondering how you like keto? In reading your post, I had to pause over the thought that we were originally carnivorous. I had always assumed we were mostly plant based simply because, while it is true that meat is…
  • @mamainthekitchen - thank you for your "review"of spaghetti squash. You inched me a bit closer to trying it. :)
  • @mamainthekitchen - been wondering about spaghetti squash and noodles. I have a hard time wrapping my head around them as a substitute for pasta. Do you enjoy spaghetti squash?
  • Heard this on The TED Radio Hour and wanted to share it with you all. - "The opposite of addiction is not sobriety but connection." Pretty deep when you think about it. Welcome @jfp420! Glad to have you with us. If you haven't already, I highly recommend watching the Mosely video pinned to the group's homepage. Lots of…
  • @Meghan509 - Food diva.
  • Very quiet out there.... :# Having a fast day today. Feeling a bit low energy. Had a cup of coffee at lunch time yesterday and I think that was the reason I woke up in the middle of the night. Hence my lackluster energy level today. :/ @Meghan509 - a big congratulations on a year of logging!!! What a commitment to…
  • Down .8 today. Thankful I was still down even with my slip ups. @Meghan509 - Good attitude on the scale. Trust your past work. The 60 lbs is your assurance for future drops. We will have a little virtual celebration for your year anniversary. :)
  • Thank you so much @KateNkognito! Just love the way this group supports each other without judgement. Best MFP group ever!!!❤❤❤
  • Light day for me today. Had a slip up yesterday. Went to lunch with a friend yesterday. Had a choice of bread or muffin. Chose muffin thinking I would only eat half (OK). Loved it and ended up eating the whole thing (not optimal :# ). Then I felt physically (sugar) and emotionally crummy (shame). Then I after I picked up…
  • Fast day yesterday. Today is a normal day. Doing well but a bit hungry. Had a late lunch, which didn't help the situation. :open_mouth: @whatiwont- We wish you well in your journey. Yes, the calories levels get low here. This WOE is not for everyone, yet at the end of the day, successful weight loss is bound up in…
  • I also thought of another angle - making low calorie foods (aka vegetables) taste better. Different vinegars sprinkled on mixed veggies can make them more appealing. One other treat I love is cooking sliced mushrooms in water or broth for a no-fat, delicious side dish.
  • I have often thought if I could only take one food to a desert island, it would be peanut butter.
  • Down .4 today. I'll take it. I moved my second fast day to Wednesday and has enchiladas last night. I am sure there is some water weight somewhere in that number. :) Good loss @Meghan509! You are moving closer and closer to a fabulous Caribbean vacay! Will be interested in seeing how the modified HIIT works for you. Enjoy…
  • @sjgold123 - Deleted your dupe post. I think you need to be an admin to do it. Love this question. I thought of swapping almond milk for cow's milk for a significant savings at 40 cals per cup for almond milk. I would also be interested in foods people eat that are filling and nutritious yet low in calories.
