  • @orlcam - I like the new logo. I agree with @KateNkognito, when it is the smaller logo at the top, it looks very nice.. The colors are eye catching. Thx for creating the new look.
  • Well, I am on my 5:2 break, happy to not be having to weigh and measure everything and I pick up a cold! I am thankful it is a mild one. Hoping if I can get to bed early tonight I will knock it out. @Meghan509 - Seems like you have your wits about you. You are a 5:2 role model for us all! Wondering where you are at in FL?…
  • @ryenday I totally agree with @Meghan509. If we can't vent here about 5:2 and our lack of losses where else can we vent? Yes, vent away! Love your dress. You will rock the holiday season with that beautiful red! Fast day today. Getting through it. Looking forward to my 5:2 break at the end of the week. Hope you all are…
  • @ryenday I am so sorry for your struggle. :/ It is hard enough to restrict calorie intake, but is doubley painful if it is combined with a slow weightloss. I think the focus of Edward Munch's painting "The Scream" was that very concept. OK, I made that last part up but I have been in your shoes and it is hard. On the plus…
  • Got a shock this morning when my scale said I lost 2.4 lbs. No reason for such a big loss. Wondering if my scale is getting up in years? :o Y @ryenday - Wondering how tall you are? A TDEE of 1300 seems low to me. December isn't over so you may get a big break-thru next week? Hoping to finish my Christmas shopping and…
  • HI All! Been really busy but doing well with 5:2. Fast day today. We had a minor tragedy over here. I have an 4 TB external drive that I keep all of our pictures and videos on. I have a second one that is the backup to the first drive. The other day I had them both attached to my computer. I got up to talk with my husband…
  • Got sprung from jury duty. Wasn't too bad. Just sat around, went to lunch, sat around some more until they dismissed us at 2pm. Able to get some things done on my computer so all in all it wasn't that bad.
  • @Meghan509 Here is a gif of me after hearing about your huge loss. Congrats! I bet it feels wonderful. I think the strength training is kicking in! Regarding the FL gym, I don't know if you checked into this but sometimes fitness companies have agreements with other gyms so that their members can go to another…
  • @meghan509 - Yes, the alumni will be coming shortly, repenting of their sins of 2017. :D Gym does get crowded! Hopefully the new machines will be close enough to what you are doing now that it won't put you back too much. You are doing so well in your work outs! @RBXChas - I remembered that you were looking for new workout…
  • @RBXChas - With your schedule it was nice for you to take a minute and catch us up. I love when January 1st hits and life officially slows down! How wonderful that you all get lunch when you do jury duty.. I haven't actually been selected for a jury so I am not sure what they do for lunch. Since they only pay the jurors…
  • Doing my first fast day of the week. My whole body has been in revolt, which for me means I am tired and hungry. I think my body has enjoyed not being at 500cals for two weeks. I think a bit of retraining is in order. :# @Meghan509 - Sounds like you had a great weekend. Loved reading about it. Reminded me that there is so…
  • Thx for checking in on us @orlcam. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas.
  • Well, I have reached my first goal of 155. Weighed in at 154.6 (70.12kg ) today! (I am beginning to believe @ryenday and I are 5:2 twins. :D ) I am sure of that is due to my hospital vacation where they treated me to IV drip pairings with my meds until my intestines started to behave themselves. :) Either way, I am…
  • Yes, interesting. Thank you for sharing @ryenday. I found this pique my curiosity "fasting enhances mitochondrial coordination with peroxisomes, a type of organelle that can increase fatty acid oxidation, a fundamental fat metabolism process". I wonder if that is why 5:2 doesn't have the plateau stages like regular calorie…
  • Sorry I have been MIA. I had abdominal surgery as a child which means I am prone to small bowel obstructions. They don't happen often but when they do they sometimes they land me in the hospital for some intestinal R&R. So I have been taking a mini-vacation the last couple of days courtesy of Kaiser Permanente, so to…
  • Just a quick note to say how thankful I am for all of you! <3 You have made this hard journey a lot easier. And to my U.S. friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. Let us all be thankful for the hard work we have done. Enjoy your day!
  • Wow! All this talk about shopping makes me a bit nervous! I haven't started my Thanksgiving food shopping yet so I am a bit concerned about what I will be up against. Been a different year. Not making the transitions a quick as I like anymore. Hoping it is the reduction in calories making me a tiny bit slower.…
  • Fast day for me. Been particularly hungry today but not sure why. Drinking herbal tea today along with @Meghan509. It is nice to have to keep me company until the fast day is over. Thanks all for responding to my informal survey on talking about food. You are the best! I would summarize it by saying that the regular…
  • Hi Y'All! Sorry I have been MIA. Busy week, then my computer decided to have a minor stroke. It survive and is resting comfortably but I hear the drumbeats saying its time in this world is not that much longer. :( Speaking of things going awry. I weighed this morning and saw I lost 1.6 lbs. Sometimes my scale weighs heaver…
  • @KateNkognito - thankful you didn't end up with your stomach on the floor, if you know what I mean. Glad you are on the mend.
  • Hi everybody! Hope you all had a great weekend. Ours was beautiful weather-wise. Love this time of year in SoCal. Fast day for me. I am with @RBXChas - no problem with Monday's fast but Thursday's fast leads me to whine and throw temper tantrums. Not sure why. Same 500 but for some reason Thursday is so much harder.…
  • @KateNkognito - it's that time of the year when our kids find it so much easier to make us sick. Hope your recovery is quick. Have plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. Looking forward to your speedy return.
  • @ryenday - Got a chance to see the Michael Mosley video you posted last week. Loved it. So true about sugar and it's awful effect on the body. I think it is the underlying cause of a lot of disease. Made me think about moving toward the Mediterranean diet. Not a big fish fan but maybe I can have some Mediterranean days…
  • Here is a link to another Michael Mosley talk: How To Be Healthy, All About Women.
  • @Meghan509- Yes, this is the best group on MFP! I thought the same the first time I did 5:2. Some of the other MFP groups can get quite judgemental. In 5:2, everyone is here to help. Love it. BTW, you and your BF exercising together doesn't spell dork to me, it says you really care about each other. Most people would do…
  • @ryenday Happy dance!!!
  • One thing I have been meaning to mention to the newbies, something that someone else in this group told me years ago, is that if you are logging produce and meat you can add the keyword USDA and you will get entries for just the plain item. For example, search "peaches" will get you peaches, peaches in syrup, peach…
  • Thanks all for the ideas. I do think the homemade keyword would help. Wish logging would just come naturally like it does to those who don't have to watch their weight. :/
  • Well I did it. I am officially out of the 160's! I am so thankful!!! @Meghan509 - Yes, sometimes we need to shake it up, don't we. You have done a great job sticking with 5:2 since pretty much last March. When I read your post, I thought about how it was important to take some time and really think about exactly what the…
  • Had a light day myself today. Made it through. As far as Halloween, it is such a crazy holiday. Like @RBXChas as said, the amount of candy the kids bring home is insane (my lose translation ). If the neighbors gave away cigarettes instead of candy we would all be aghast. But give the kids enough candy to permanently…
