  • I think @orlcam changed our picture to be officially fall. Very nice!
  • I also (FINALLY) had a good week! Lost 2.4 lbs. That puts me about 11 lbs from my first goal. Very thankful! @Meghan509 Congratulations to both you and your guy! I think it is very cool that you are doing 5:2 together. You can cheer each other on. I found the stuff you wrote on Atkins fascinating. I always thought eating…
  • @Meghan509 These look really good! I would love to try the Highland Stew. I think my non-5:2 family would like it too. Have you added these to one of the pinned recipe post at the top of the 5:2 page?
  • @KateNkognito - what works for me on fast days is to have the meals planned out before the actual day, usually the night before. That way I can go on auto-pilot knowing what I need to eat for the fast day. Since your schedule is quite hectic, you might even want to consider having the meals weighed and measured the night…
  • @Meghan509 - So glad your sister's home was spared. I too have been watching the news since my family is in the Ft. Lauderdale area in Southeast FL. All of them were evacuated so I have not heard anything about damage yet. I know there is lots of power outages. Praying that looting will not be a problem for the areas…
  • @Meghan509 - Thanks for the ideas. Eggs and veggies work for me. That is a great idea. I have been doing overnight oats for a long time so I do know how to make those. I was really interested in how to get the protein-veggie thing going in the morning as I am a very much a breakfast person. Maybe I should…
  • Ended up losing .6 lbs when I weighed on Friday. I have my calories pretty high for my non-fast days so I was happy the scale moved at all. I was looking for breakfast ideas for fast day breakfasts. @flumi_f recomended protein and veggies for fast days. I think she is right but the thought of protein and veggies at…
  • @KateNkognito - Hope life calms down for you soon so you can enjoy your weight loss and your life at the same time. Been a good weekend. I decided to fast on Saturday since I didn't know what the Labor Day holiday would look like for me. Tomorrow I am going to a brunch. Hoping to not go overboard! And really hoping the…
  • Wow! Thx everyone. This is new to me. Hoping the exercise and my body will work things out this week. I appreciate all of the input. @Meghan509 - if you google the topic you will find more articles on how it works. I picked the Weight Watchers article because it seemed accurate and easily understandable.
  • @hannahbananna80 Me too! Thx!
  • @hannahbananna80 I did some quick research on the water gain and exercise and it is absolutely true! I found this website that explains it: http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/art/index_art.aspx?tabnum=1&art_id=11331 Here's what it says: "Weight gain with exercise may be disheartening. But before you hang up your running…
  • @hannahbananna80 Thank you for your thoughts. I have considered water retention. I didn't know that exercise can cause water retention. Hard to know if that is it. Wish my body could tell me! I am going to to give it a bit more time to see if the scale budges. If it doesn't then I will cut my non-fast calories.
  • Again no loss to speak of today - .5 lb. I am starting to wonder if my non-fast calories are too high at 1800. It was the calorie count given by several calculators if I want to maintain at 155 (I am 5' 7"). I am weighing and measuring all of my food and I am hungry a lot so I don't feel like I am overeating. The plan does…
  • Yes, I use the Coconut Sugar as well hoping it is more healthy and nutritional than Aspartame or Splenda. But I didn't know Trader Joe's has coconut sugar. I will have to look for it there. I also am interested in stevia. I think it is getting better. When it first came out I found it very bitter. I read that the sweetness…
  • This is a very grace-filled group. If you have a week it doesn't work we will be here to cheer you on the next!

  • @hannahbananna80 Welcome! Glad you are joining us. I too am back after a two year break. Found that 5:2 with a younger child is hard! Easier now that our son is older. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

  • Last week (my first week back) went well, fasts and all. Didn't lose any weight to speak of but did notice changes in inches. Hoping I will see the scale budge at least a little bit this week. If not, I will have to reassess my non-fast calorie level. :disappointed: @Marmitegeoff - Welcome back! I remember you from my…
  • @orlcam Here is one I always liked. Might not work for your purposes but wanted to share it with the group anyway.
  • In addition to all of the things you all wrote, I realized, I eat because I want to be like everyone else. I was always seen as the heavy one in my family so my parents tried to control what I ate while my sisters could eat whatever they wanted. They got treats in their lunches for school, etc.. I think I just grew up…
  • Many talk about losing weight and I think "Losing weight??? Piece of cake! Staying at goal weight??? Now there is the real challenge!" :cold_sweat:  :fearful: :#
  • Get outside into the sunshine and go for a walk, or just go for a walk. Stimulates the serotonin in our brains to help us to feel better AND gets us away from the fridge.
  • Good to be able to join you ladies. Stated back on 5:2 last Thursday with my first fast day tomorrow. Doing pretty good except the usual apprehensions - is my calorie count right, am I eating too much, am I eating to little, am I exercising too little, am I exercising too much, will I trash it all if I show a gain at my…
  • Thanks everyone for your input. I appreciate you helping me get started.
  • @elize7 - I am new to posting in this group, however, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your honesty. I see your post as a step out of the pain onto the path of healing. It may take time but that kind of openness and honesty will lead you back into knowing that you are a valuable person and worth maintaining your…
  • Maintenance is 6:1 so that one is still gaining the benefits of fasting but not still losing weight.
  • You go girl!
  • Others can chime in but my understanding is that a fast is around 30 hours than just 24. So I think what you thinking would work as long as there is no snacking between your normal lunch and bedtime on the first day.
  • Working on my second fast day this week. With my son home from school I am still working through how to continue 5:2. Just taking it one week at a time. :) Keep going everyone!
  • Glad your back. You add life to the group!
  • You are doing great! Today will be over before you know it and tomorrow will be a better day.
