  • The most surprising is that the insides of my knees have bruises from sleeping on my sides, not enough fat pad now! Kind of funny when it finally dawned on me! An awesome feeling is that my butt doesn't hang down and touch the back of my thighs causing a sticky feeling when I walk. Kind of like getting rid of the inner…
  • Watch all the other people eating the doughnuts and see how those people look. Especially if you see someone going back for seconds or thirds- I bet they are not fit looking! If you really need to eat something sweet, ANYTHING is better than a doughnut! Eat chocolate!
  • What an awesome video- great job! Very inspiring and motivational, thank you for sharing!
  • I really wish I could put that I met Keanu Reeves, I'd love to bump into him!
  • I had a beautiful one going up the outside of my thigh and over my hip- a colorful cobra winding up thru some sunflowers. Then I had surgery (tummy tuck/lift) and half of it is now gone due to the amount of skin they took. So now I have a few sunflower stems and the cobra tail. 20 more pounds and I'll figure out how…
  • I got to serve Sean Connery a scotch at a country club I worked at! He was pretty indifferent, didn't say a word, but he did let a couple of us take a picture with him- that was pretty cool!
  • Ditto the King size beds, facing apart, our own blankets, don't touch me or stab me with your toenails, fan going to drown out the snoring (it works, I can actually sleep with him rather in my sons top bunk bed!). It took 22 years of refining, but we've got it down now!
  • You have a great attitude and will learn how to get through/cope with your daily struggles! I enjoy having a glass of wine in the evening to "wind down" but it used to be much more. The weight piled on over time. Cutting down really made a huge difference. Watch your food diary and weight fluctuations on days without…
  • I love it! But like others have said, it's not like pasta at all. It's just a great substitute you can twirl around the fork! It's much stringier, but really, really great! I cook the squash whole in the oven for an hour (for a big one) or you can easily poke it with a fork to see if it's done. Just cut it in half and use…
  • Like many have said you first need to realize you are a worthwhile person. Small changes can make big differences! My reasons are that I don't want to be tied to a pharmacy for antidepressants or anti-inflamatories for things that exercise and weight loss would help resolve. And really simplistically - I can't stand my…
  • You have done a great job- what an inspiration! Being a yo-yo over the last 25 years I have also had those bittersweet times, and this time I'm feeling it even more. I have gained and lost this same weight and last time did it totally wrong using Medifast, but professed to my coworkers this would be it! The time before…
  • Just keep telling yourself 'what's done is done and I loved every minute of it!", then focus on the next few days in a postive, healthy way. Sounds like you are doing that- great job! Smalls steps go a long way, but you can't fault yourself for having in the meantime!
  • I am enjoying this post and all of the back and forth! I am glad you posted it, great stuff to think about. The last couple of posts spoke about how easy it is to over-consume carbs - yes, it is! Sorry if you're not a believer in this one- but I have been going for acupuncture treatment for a few things (hot flashes,…
  • papaya, 2 jimmy dean turkey sausages, and Daves Killer Bread! Maybe a greek yogurt too. And good, dark, coffee, lots of it!
  • I was referred to a great website fat2fit to figure out how many calories to eat per day based on my own statistics. It's really easy, you just need to take measurements and indicate your activity level. I used the Military Version. I have seen it referenced in several threads so I know lots of people are using it. Good to…
  • This is great way to explain. I went to physical therapy and was told to bend my knees, brace for the punch and kind of GRRRR. She called it GRRR(girl) power. you can get a lot of power by holding that pose alone! Adding little little lunges or arm lifts while GRRRRing is a really powerful move when you are just starting.
  • Like a few others of you, I have a harder time in classes because I feel intimidated by everyone else. Although I can do most of the steps, I find I push myself too hard in classes and it becomes counter-productive. Maybe not the right instructor for me? But I love doing the Zumba (and other) DVD. I also have the wii…
  • Awesome work! Thank you for doing this and hoping you're not regretting! One of my many questions- do you think morning workouts are better or does it matter what time of day? I am not having an easy time getting up to exercise before work but think getting your metabolism going early would be good. And does it really…
  • I'm 5'3 and 48 yrs old. Highest wt-182 CW-162 GW-140 Ecstatic weight-135 I am building up my exercise, currently 4 days a week of a good sweat for approx an hour, try to walk the rest of the week. I've been playing with my calories and found I'm not losing on 1350, so bumped up to 1500. Recent illness so just now getting…
  • It seems I've been told a 30/30/40 split is good. I think it was 40 carbs, 30 protein and 30 fat (that seems really high for fat!). In mine I'm doing 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat to see how it works. I've been losing approximately a lb a week. I'm not that great of an exerciser, but getting better -about 4 times a…
  • Great job- you look terrific!
  • I bet that would be great made out of kale too!
  • Eat whatever you want, but pair it with a protein- force yourself! It will slow down the absorption of the sugars (I've been told). And keep some dark chocolate around. It's amazing how wonderful it tastes when you're wanting something sweet.
  • Have you sat down with him and had this exact same talk? If not, you should. And probably with a councilor like others have suggested. Or a mediator who can be unbiased, with both of you present and speaking openly and honestly. If you can't speak openly and honestly to save your relationship, then there are issues bigger…
  • Thanks to all for the wonderful and motivating comments!
  • Great Job and you look great in your pic! So awesome to read your response, I feel really excited about getting going now! I don't workout quite as many days a week but am building it up one day at a time. I would be so happy losing 1/2 lb a week, especially if it meant keeping it off! You are right, people do say some…
  • That is a very neat story- thank you for sharing! I need to get my mind on-board and think positively about it, and I will remember women like your mom can do it, so can I! Thank you
  • Just remember to give yourself a break because it will happen. Allow yourself to enjoy it and then forget about it and focus on the week ahead, starting with a good workout!
  • I am the same height and weight, so very excited to hear feedback. Almost 48 and peri-menopausal. My doctor keeps telling me my metabolism is slowing down and I may not lose weight. WRONG! I'm going to do it and I think weight lifting will be part of it. I've gone up and down for years, the same 25 lbs. Time to say goodbye…
