  • "binge" day, no. a "spike" day, yes. I perceive binge as eat with no regard to what it is or its caloric quantity is. I prefer spiking where I remain eating healthy and all, but I eat up to what my BMR level is. My BMR is around 2400 and for my weight loss I eat around 1600 so it gives me an extra 800 calories.
  • Any cheap a home video works. Jullian Michaels makes great stuff (biggest loser). Her videos such as 30 day shred and Ripped in 30 require a yoga mat (if on a hard floor) and some hand dumbbells. They are combined cardio/strength in a circuit form and get in a solid workout in 30 minutes.
  • Generally, you will have edema in your feet if you're larger. So yes, you will see some changing in your feet. You may even drop a shoe size. Some people with flat feet when overweight actually have their arch return when they drop weight which causes a drop in shoe size. Try pressing on your feet and look for the…
  • I got fitted at a local new balance store. They had specific insoles with Metatarsal support (a huge memory foam pad that sits right under the arch) and that combined with a pronation correcting running shoe has solved my issues. It was awkward at first and hurt, but after about two weeks of running it has felt soooo good!…
  • Why are you worrying about urine pH? Urine is supposed to be acidotic in general. You secrete various levels of uric and phosphoric acids an titrate your hydrogen levels ong many other things in the kidney.
  • Ill post some updates soon. I did 30DS and am 3/4th the way through Ripped in 30/C25k hybrid
  • Surgery is the only option, its essentially calcified fat tissue. Even if your PCP doesn't recommend surgery, you can always seek a surgeon on your own.

  • One of the largest reasons people see weight gain when stopping smoking is a return of appetite and most people trade snacking for smoking. If you continue to log and are careful about what you do to "replace" your smoking habit, you will probably see minimal to no weight gain. You might talk to a physician about quitting.…
  • Image fixed. Nice job!
  • Haha it's tough love but it really is possible if you schedule it. If you can find time for a favorite television show or a dinner out with friends, then you can make time to work out. For the longest time I used time as an excuse and as long as treat time as fast food and manage it poorly, you will never make progress. My…
  • Yep medical student. End of 2nd year, studying for boards, kid on the way, and all the usual stuff. So what, you're busy? So am I. Make time, it just doesn't happen to schedule itself.
  • You're at a BMI of 21.8 You have no reason to lose weight. If you're looking to tone and muscle gain, you need to be eating at least your BMR and maybe then some otherwise you will never gain muscle. You need some body fat...
  • any doc that won't call back post surgery is an idiot. Call your PCP at least or march up to the office of the surgeon or whomever.
  • I did 30DS 30 days non stop and now am doing C25K/Ripped in 30 hybrid. 30DS was a real wake up call for me, as I hardly could do the first week without stopping multiple times. By the end, my endurance was up and I really enjoyed it. Just for kicks I went back and did step 1 and hardly broke a sweat. Its amazing how fast…
  • Still think you should look into VWD or at least have a physical done by a doc and get a CBC (complete blood count) w/ Iron Study. Its going to provide more answers than the speculation on this website.
  • Make sure you have adequate Vit K levels and aren't overdoing it on Vit E. You may also want to get screened for Von Wildebrands Disease. Its pretty common. If you have ever or are one BCPs, have you noticed less bruising? Are you're menstrual cycles pretty heavy?
  • Too little or too much weight can cause absent or irregular cycle: Try to water this down: Two hormones are key to a cycle: Estrogen and Progesterone. Estrogen is produced throughout, but is key during the first 14 days. Progesterone is also produced throughout, but is key during the last 14 days of the cycle. A cycle…
  • I've had it all my life. Only time it went away is in high school when I was taking Accutane for Acne, but I quickly got off that nasty drug and since just dealt with it. I recently began experiencing plaque psoriasis and was given a topical steroid betamethasone for that. I mentioned the KP to the doc at the time and he…
  • Truvia/Stevia or Agave are the way to go.
  • Neither, go Stevia. All natural.
  • I read your post and suspected underlying conditions and then read your profile. Have you looked into CBT (cognitive based therapy) + medicine? Both have strong efficacy for aiding with PTSD, Eating disorders, etc. They are not a one time patch though. It will take time, it will be difficult, and it does NOT make you less…
  • As a snack food or rarely a meal replacement, I buy the Jamba Juice All Natural smoothie packets. You add apple juice to it and blend for a ready-to-drink smoothie. They run about 200-250 calories per smoothie with juice and all. Sometimes when I need extra protein I toss in two scoops of a neutral pure whey protein mix…
  • Just FYI no alcohol has "0" calories.... Alcohol detox drives the production of VLDL/Triglycerides in the liver and so it completely skips being metabolized and goes straight to fat. In moderation, this is never a issue. However, on those bender nights alcohol has a much more devilish activity. The only way your body and…
  • It has an unpublished formula (proprietary formula) and its main "active" ingredient is just a fiber supplement that has many unproved claims. Stay away.
  • I am dealing with bronchitis right now and despite all the chest crap, I still am making myself run. It sucks while running, but afterwards I feel amazing and my energy gets to feeling "normal." I'd find a way to keep exercising if you could and possibly look into some medicines. I've been taking guafenesin and…
  • For the first few months I was losing weight, the scale hardly moved but the inches disappeared quickly. It really helps with motivation if you measure (all I measured was waist and hips). Part of this phenomenon in my opinion is if you're like me, I was completely sedentary with NO exercise for the past couple of years.…
  • easiest way to post: Go to www.imgur.com and upload pictures. Once uploaded copy the [img]codePost the img code here. Make sure there are no "%20" (without parentheses) in the http link and if there are, delete them and replace them with a single space like so: image%20name.jpg changed to image name.jpgLastly make sure the…
  • 3 simple things to help. Smaller plates. Its a proven fact that your mind will over estimate portions based on plate size. Eat on 6" plates rather than 8 or 12" plates. You will automatically put less food on as you're visual estimating will be more reasonable. This is part of the reason restaurants use such larger…
  • Though the thyroid is king at it, many factors (a lot of which are unknown) contribute to your basal metabolism. They are finding very specific hormones this day in time such as GLP-1 which has become a new type 2 diabetic therapy target since it contributes to increased insulin response, increased satiety and is known for…
