Have a read through the ‘what YouTube workout did you do today’ thread. Just a few pages will give you guidance. You will get ideas of who offers what type of exercise. I like Hasfit, Sidney Cummings, Funfitt, yoga with Adrianne, and a few others that I can’t remember off the top of my head. (I’ve never been a video at…

So glad to see this exercise raising its head again. It was one of the first things I learnt to do when I started exercising back in 2008 and has held me in good stead ever since. Not that I have ever had visible abs, just a good core strength. Cheers, h. I used to have a good link that I would post on here but when the…

How long have you been a member of MFP? I first joined in 2008 I think, but opted to use another site. When that site closed I rejoined MFP in 2010. Are you at your Goal Weight? Yes, I was st my goal when I rejoined. I just needed a place to maintain. How far do you have to go? No distance I am there. If have met your goal…

No need to go as far as Keto-ish or terribly low carb, unless that is your preference. You may have to give up a few grams of carbs and fat to reach your protein goal but you shouldn’t have to re work your ‘diet’ just make small adjustments. I.e. I changed eating small cups of fruity sweet yogurt with little protein to a…

I take D and B12 on a daily basis. At the moment I am also adding a multi and collagen/biotin. The latter 2 are because I have had a very stressful 8 month, and that is not taking COVID into account, and I know I am probably a little lacking in nutrients. Calcium, I get from dairy as it is better absorbed. If you live in…

Something to consider is wearing good supportive underwear, especially if you are exercising or moving more. Not something like Spanx, just something that will support you and help stop gravity pulling your ‘apron’ skin more. A good supportive bra wouldn’t go amiss either. Don’t stint and wear old Ill fitting…

I’ve only recently started building my own little lists and things on YouTube. I generally dislike working out at home but I’m now bored with what I have been doing so decided to branch out. 10-15 min is the best I can do before wanting to switch to something else at the moment so I am just wandering along. Someday I’ll…

Use YouTube itself to make your own play list. I like chopping and changing 10-15 min workouts at the moment. So I have a play list that holds them all but I also have day specific short playlists for the days I don’t want to decide. I just hit play, cast to the TV (a thing I only learnt this month) and they play one after…

Something else to take into account along with all the excellent adequate nutrition and calories info above. It sounds like you have just started and gone into it whole hog. I totally understand having to do it regularly and stick to it so you will build the habit, but you may be going in just too fast moving from a…

No special diet. I just eat what I have always eaten. I may have had to juggle portion sizes a little to reach my protein goal when in a deficit. For me this worked- maintained 10+yr. ETA. The why I ate my chosen way. It made losing weight less complicated and mentally I could just glide into maintenance. There was no big…

Sounds like you are underfeeding. With so few pounds to lose and wanting to retain muscle adjust your deficit to 0.5 lbs a week and eat back your exercise calories. Use a food scale for everything, and I mean everything. MFP’s lifting cals are pretty good so log your time, including between rep and set rests, and eat those…

Try doing a comparison with this equation which is pretty accurate. Walking calorie equation. (Weight x .3) x distance in miles. (W in lbs x .3)x (distance in km x .621) Running use weight x .6 or .63 .621 converts km to mile. Or go to exr.net and enter your info in the Mets calc. Cheers, h.

To add to @sijomial’s last paragraph. This thread (below) is helpful for just moving more with everyday activity, not adding extra workouts into your day. I’m a small older woman so get few calories even in maintenance. Just working on my daily activity level gave me a couple of hundred extra cals a day without really…

Start now, no need to wait. If you are doing Starting Srength follow the progamme for the weight increase. Cheers, h.

Get a scrap of paper and a pencil. Note the calories of the packaging of your 3 ingredient spaghetti. Add up the total cals. Divide the total to get the percentage of the meal you eat. Find a similar calorie total in the MFP data base. (For any meal you will just have to do the little bit of maths etc once then the meal…

Congratulations. It is soooo exciting isn’t it. I can almost feel your sense of accomplishment and glee. I remember the first day I did my first bench press. I was so excited I almost ran home so I could post a pic on here. It was a full 27/8 lbs. but I was so proud. My next big one was a 100lbs deadlift. Not quite as…

Sounds like you have everything well thought through. As it is a new exercise, monitor your estimated elliptical burn and adjust as needed. Just want to check, as you have lost quite a bit of weight already, that you have been adjusting your calorie goal as your weight decreases. Cheers, h.

There is a way to slow degeneration and build muscle, but it is slow. I started with the 2 programmes l mentioned above (hasfit & Nerdfitness) 10 year ago when I was in my late 50’s. I also introduced Pilates, yoga, Aquafit, Zumba, and belly dancing on my alternate days when I was ready. It probably took me a couple of…

Have a look at hasfit on YouTube they have a good beginner work out that uses little equipment but is effective and simple for a beginner. Nerdfitness is a good website that also does a good beginners bodyweight workout. Both these programmes are whole body, have few moves, and are easy to follow. No leaping about or loud…

You know, I don’t care what country you are in, I don’t care your politics, all I can do is plead with everyone to please do your part. I have been very quiet on these forums for the past couple of months because I am coping with an ill mother in Scotland while I am on the west coast of Canada. I, for the past few months,…

@springlering62 GUNS! you’ve got guns. You are one heck of an inspiration. Cheers, h.

You’ve had the big guns replying, pay attention to what they have advised. No more needs to be said. Cheers, h.

Blame the newly discovered Neowise comet. Don’t worry it is only visible for a short time and won’t return for more than another 6000yr. Cheers, h.

I checked the page. Note, it says ‘firm and tone the appearance of problem areas’ This is probably just a temporary visual effect unless any effective ingredients are being included at a level that research has shown to have permanent results. This cream does not show the quantities of any of the ingredients. For the price…

There are plenty of equipmentless/ minimum equipment home routines on YouTube for free. You really don’t need to pay for a general strengthening goal routine unless you have specific requirements. Personally for a beginner I like Nerdfitness and Hasfit. They are simple and effective. Cheers, h.

There is no OTC lotion that will tighten skin. Lotions can help moisturize your skin, help it look better, and the act of massaging it in helps with circulation which helps a little towards cell turnover. Bio Oil may help reduce the appearance of stretch marks over time but stretch marks are permanent. Reading about Bio…
