This made me laugh.

Janet, I am impressed with your sister's strength. It must run in the family! The next three weeks until school starts are going to be very busy for me. For the newbies, I adopted my sister's grand-daughters last December. They have been living with me for three years. Last night, the neighbors, who have boys in the same…

Thanks Barbie, you are the greatest!

Kim, I was going to suggest cats, too. Most shelters have cats that are too feral to adopt out that they will send to farms if they are going to have food and shelter. They are neutered and have an initial rabies shot usually. My four indoor/outdoor cats, all strays who came to stay, keep the bunnies and voles under…

Awesome quilts.

Katie, you look marvelous!

Five hours in the yard. Mowed my tiny patch and path of grass. Weedeated along the back alley and other spots. Pulled a LOT of weeds (really hot and lots of rain for two weeks is great for growing weeds). Then moved a few hostas to a less sunny spot, and moved some day lilies and peonies to where they were. Then quit…

Joyce, so happy that Charlie is getting the doctoring he needs! Allie, way to go telling Tom he is a bully. It isn't likely to change him, but there is always that small chance. Michele, jerky is, by definition, salty. A salt marinade is made to pull the moisture from it so that it is preserved and does not need…

Allie, you do know that what Tom does to thwart your plans is a form of abuse? I did not realize that it was, when my former husband did the same thing to me, but when I had a PTSD flashback and terror attack when someone changed plans on me once, I realized how abusive it was. I called it "pulling the rug out from under…

Love to all. Love the photos! When I went to get a new CPAP machine about a year ago, Medicare refused to pay the supplier because I did not have a recent sleep study. I wrote them a rebuttal, saying why should Medicare funds be used to pay for a sleep study, when I have been using a CPAP nightly for twenty years and this…

NSV- I tried on a swim coverup that I had not been able to wear for over a decade because the upper arms were too tight and it didn't close over the bust. It fits!! Yippee. xL!

Barbie, New Balance is the only shoe I can comfortably wear. I wear a MAN'S 4E in New Balance! I have always had incredibly wide feet, and never had shoes that were wide enough until I discovered New Balance. My shoes would always pinch, and then the upper would separate from the sole along the sides. They would be okay by…

Karen, I tried to send you a message, but it got lost. Thanks for the support. It is not each of you individually that I feel alienated from. But one person's inability to follow the rules of the forum at times makes this a hostile environment for me. The majority of the people here are incredibly ladies and very…

Thank you Janet!!! In my own self protection, I have chosen to never read a certain someone's posts because of all the political jabs. It makes me feel alienated from this entire group.

Re in tx. My mood has been down, which is why my posts are rare and brief right now. It is mostly due to two things. Fear about what will happen to the supports (SSDI and Medicare) that I PAID for, if the GOP wins this election and what will happen to my son since his supports are one's that don't come out of FICA. And one…

Janet, you have naked ladies in your yard!!! That is one of the common names for that flower. I have some too, and love them. For those that don't know, they have flat strap-like leaves in the spring, similar to daffodil leaves. But those die back, and late summer you get one stalk with one flower. They are a bulb that is…

Katla, happy birthday. The superman plank is where you lie on your stomach and extend your arms out straight in front and legs straight out back while arching your back. So you look like superman flying.

NSV tonight. My daughters take Tae Kwon Do. They are so focused and learning so well that they have been invited to stay for the adult class after the kids' class. The adult class is a LOT harder. Tonight they were doing a lot of strengthening exercises. The instructor gave them directions to do a 60 second plank, then a…

Janet, being single, I have had to move toilets around by myself when I renovated both bathrooms in my house, as well as when the wax ring needs replaced. Not much fun.

Katiebug, my mom gave me a pair of hand-me-down pants, "I hope you can fit in to them. I had them before I lost weight. They are HUGE!!!" She had a tiny bone structure and no muscles at all and could not accept that I inherited my dad's bone structure and muscles. These were a size 16 pant.

Pip, it just occurred to me that you might be interested in a bike "race" here in Iowa. It occurs annually, usually the last week of July. Folks come from all over the country to participate. My brother did it with some of his scouts one year, and they live in Texas. It is called Ragbrai. It starts on the west side of the…

Kim, ((hugs)) Karen in Virginia, that movie, and that pair, reminded me so much of my own childhood. I grew up in Nashville, and we had "help" MWF to do the housework and another TTH for laundry/ ironing. My mom was either in the throes of depression and in bed, or manic and gone, so I was on my own from infancy. Older…

Those of you who are not getting enough sleep need to know that you are sabotaging your weight loss. Lack of sleep causes weight gain. It slows metabolism and it decreases the "feeling full" hormone so you eat too much!

Linda, my dad's first parish, in the early 50s, was in Sioux City. Before I was born. The Episcopal church.

Charleen, my oldest sister lives in Boulder, with the mountain directly behind their house. The fires a few years ago were so worrisome! I hope Nederland survives. I have a lot of fond memories of taking my middle son and girls up there when he was still out in Boulder (he is now back in Iowa just down the street from me).

KJ, you are pinching the nerve in your wrist by the angle it is in when you ride. So it is very much a fit issue. If you can alternate how you hold the handlebars so that you relieve the pressure that may help. When I had a "racing" type bike, I would alternate between holding the downward curve handle as it was designed…

Karen in Virginia, after I started working in mental health, I realized the effect that suicide has on the families left behind. That was when I decided it was no longer an option. And when I chose to have children, I renewed that commitment. I have sometimes had a hard time reminding myself of that, but it has kept me…

Cheri, hugs to you. Glad you have a great realtor. Karen in Virginia, we have Bipolar type 2 rampant in my family as well. It is part of the reason I am now disabled after working until over 50. It is part of the reason my 32 year old son is disabled (plus sleep issues, PTSD, Social phobia, OCD and some autistic traits).…

I don't know how finished your basement is, but when I was in high school, we had an unfinished basement. I turned a corner of it in to a lovely rec room and sewing area by using bedspreads tacked to the rafters to create soft walls on all four sides. Put down a room size rug WITH A GOOD PAD to insulate the floor. And had…
